| Whoa I didn't expected this. I knew that he was doing to die but I didn't know in which episode. But honestly Ace made a dumb move. Why would he pick a fight, with Akainu no less, while he knew how strong he is. |

| The reason why Ace got provoked is explained in the Flashback of Ace and Luffy after this arc. IIRC it's about, If I ran I can't protect anything. or If I ran I would lose something precious. smthng like that. |

I liked that moment when WB told Ace that they have nothing to say to each other and he let after giving his respect to his father. But it seemed like Ace understood what his crew went tru to save him and to end this with him falling for Akainu's bait. Its just a dumb move imo. It was still a very good episode, it made me like Akainu a bit more. I always perfered villains over heroes anyways. tr1ckst3r, I heard good things about the next arc. I look forward to watching that. |

| Stupidest death ever. Your captain already told you to run away, with him already putting his life on the line. Tons of buddies already sacrificed themselves when trying to save you, yet... | There was some serious tonal whiplash this episode. Were those Buggy and Mr.3 parts in the manga? To have Ace accepting the situation, something I hadn't expected, and him running as the Whitebeard's die and finally Ace taking a blow that severe for Luffy spliced up with yet another Buggy camera joke and a Mr.3 comedic moment felt weird. The Buggy joke was hardly anything new although it's still funny how stiff he is when filmed and I found his fake kindness quite funny too. And the Mr.3 bit was hysterical to have him hide himself in a wax shell and roll away, I would have just preferred a fully Ace and Whitebeard centered episode or the Mr.3 bit alone. So for the actual bread and butter of the episode, that was traumatizing. The vivre card flashback really dulled the last moments for me, but apart from that I loved all of the Ace centered moments. The prostration similar to when Sanji thanked Zeff for all he's done, and the of course I am and jolly laugh of Whitebeard's. This is so sad, I didn't believe Ace could let Whitebeard sacrifice himself, Luffy never could after all if he was in Ace's shoes, but he did. As sad as it is he understood that if both of them died this was all be for nothing. As sad as it is Whitebeard is giving his own life for Ace and his children. Any who stay and die with him would just sully that. At the very least I hope that the camera captures his glory so that the slander does not live on. Akainu is a damn punk. He is cruel. Kizaru may be sadistic, but Akainu is just truly cruel. 'Any unjust should die. Any deserters should die.' He does not know what sympathy is. And he's so good at manipulating people into anger through talks of slander. He did it to Squard and he did it to Ace now, but it does seem he believes Whitebeard is as bad as he is saying. Ace may have been able to run but he cannot let the man who gave them all a place to live, who made the world a better place, who would forgive his children for betraying him and let them leave if they so be it be insulted in his final moments. Like Luffy of course he would want to make Akainu shut up and it really broke him into a rage, as irrational as it was. But my jaw dropped when he closed the distance to Luffy, Akainu went to kill Luffy before Ace's eyes. I don't want the death of many people in One Piece and knowing Oda I should have sympathy for nearly everyone but in this moment more than the Squard manipulation, I want Akainu on the ground freaking dead.... I love my boys and he's going out the way to spite everyone who fought for what they believed in tonight and make Ace suffer... Whitebeard will be devastated, everyone will, and this is the kind of moment I don't know how Luffy will react. When he thought his crew was dead he could not even fight back against Kuma. Will he need to be carried away, will he unleash insane haki and punch Akainu super hard, will he go berserk. I think however Luffy reacts here will be a notable moment of characterization. |

| All Ace had to do at this point was to respect Whitebeard's wishes and immortalize his legacy in memory but things just had to turn out this way, damn. Akainu really knows how to emotionally manipulate his opponents and mercilessly hit it where it hurts. He definitely believes that the ends justify the means when it comes to dishing out absolute justice. It's very ironic that the vivre card that symbolized Ace's life turned out to be the very same thing that let Luffy's guard down enough to leave himself open to a fatal attack that his brother ended up taking. I can only imagine how sorrowful things would be in the next episode... |

| This was a great episode, but I can't help but feel slightly annoyed that after everything everybody went through for him Ace so easily fell for Akainu's obvious bait. Frustrating as that was to watch, I suppose it was in-character for him and that was probably the point. His hot-headedness, stubbornness and pride essentially drove him to disobey Whitebeard, pursue Blackbeard alone and get captured in the first place. It's a bit of cruel irony that he loves and respects Whitebeard so much that his pride would let a bit of trash talk from a merciless enemy influence his (poor) decision-making more than even his captain's final orders. |

| This episode is the example of a great arc, going full dogshit and throwing everything away because Ace "fell" for the bait in a SINGLE episode. Es que, qué puta vergüenza de episodio, Ace llorando por todos los que se están muriendo por salvarle, todo para la decisión de mierda que toma de suicidarse, literalmente su padre, Barbablanca, se suicida para que Ace y los demás se escapen, y a él se la suda. Todo el arco se ha ido a la mierda por esta basura de decisión. Increíble la vergüenza que ha dado el arco al final. Ni siquiera me ha emocionado la puta mierda de muerte que ha sufrido, me ha enfurecido, qué vergüenza de writing para el final del arco. Easiest worthless death of any shonen. |

| It was pretty annoying that Ace fell for Akainu's trash talking. But I guess like Luffy often does, he could have genuinely thought he could beat someone who was far stronger than he realised. After all he had no problem with Aokiji. I actually really enjoyed the comic relief with Buggy. Especially how his kind words to the transponder snail made it finally come out of the shell. That was cute xD Also Buggy and co unintentionally trolling everyone at the Sabaody Achipelago xD As for Mr 3, I never thought I’d say this, but I do feel genuinely sorry for him for being left behind at Marineford. I hope he makes it out of there. He turned out to be huge help in saving Ace from being executed! And he seems to have developed a much better character over the course of the last two arcs. |
