It was pretty weak compared to Mappa's older shows. They even made some pretty noob mistakes.
I hope they Will do something about it in the future.

Were you expecting Disney level CGI? Japanese studios are overworked and their TV and movies simply don’t have the budget for the kind of CGI you’re used to here in the west. It looked fine to me and I don’t think you fully understand how much time, money, and work would go into animating this scene any differently. These Japanese studios simply do not have the budget or manpower to please you. The CGI looked fine and I doubt it could have been done any better, so you’re whining is pretty petty. Think of how much movement is being shown on screen and the restrictions they’re facing and you try to come up with a solution half as good. I swear some people will find anything to complain about lol. Obviously the 2D animation looks PHENOMENAL for this series and I don’t think the 3D CGI modeling looks bad at all. Given the context, I think they made the right call and this was a strong first episode.

Instead of watching this just re-watch your "PEAK SHOUNEN" KNY and JJK...

Traditional art will always be superior than digitally enhanced. CGI is just not comparable to hand drawn. It’s kinda like saying a commuter is just as good as an exotic because they both serve the same purpose; an exotic drives yes but the quality and enjoyment of the drive is superior. I think it is fair to criticize the CGI, while also praising the very well made animation.

The CGI wasn’t gonna be good enough for anyone no matter what because nothing is ever good enough smh. It looks fine and the animated camera direction is good. Anyone that’s gonna have an issue with the CGI all season should probably stop watching because it looks like it’s gonna be heavily used.

never been a fan of MAPPA's 3D animation nor any kind of 3D animation in anime but the actual demons look to be almost full 2D, or that's some extremely impressive camera trickery going on. I won't mind it but it's just a little disappointing. I'll still watch dis shit like crazy

This is why you shouldn’t watch this in Low quality to save data. It looked really good(as good as Ufotable’s. And it blends with the 2d animation). If you’ve seen better, feel free to counter me.

If I had been stingy like you had, then I probably would be complaining about the same thing.

I wish CGI would be on the level of Fate/Zero's Berserker. Although CSM's not that bad, it's better than most of CGI but Vinland Saga's first episode CGI and Berserker's CGI are better. Berserk 2016's CGI is the worst one. Also I can understand people who don't like CGI in anime, not everyone must love CSM's animation.

yes definitely. The CGI took a piss on the manga till it soaked. Never trust animation studios to deliver ever. Glad i stopped watching anime long back.

I don't think the CGI was bad...it's not the best but certainly way above average
but I don't think they can do that fight 2D...I'm not a manga reader but from what I heard chainsaw man has a lot of action and battles
so animating those chainsaws in 2D will be next to impossible....the alternative is having still images and powerpoint presentation and let's be honest that would be criminal
so CGI was the only option plus that fight scene was done well! beside that fight scene look at every frame in looked beautiful! and animation was top tier plus the colors are very dark and depressing I think it sets the tone very well, that was an amazing work by MAPPA you can tell a lot of work has been put into this episode the staff deserve praise!
