Some I can think of:
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure manga (1987) -> TV anime adaptation (2012)
*Happy anniversary to Phantom Blood, released October 6th, 2012*

Parasyte manga (1988) -> Parasyte anime (2014)

Banana Fish manga (1985) -> Banana Fish anime (2018)

Any other examples? It's fun to see how anime studios might modernize their adaptations in the cases of Parasyte and Banana Fish.

I feel like the new Netflix anime Bastard!! Ankoku no Hakaishin qualifies. It did have an OVA in '92 but it's only now getting a proper adaptation

Fruits basket comes to mind, at least with the remake.

I think they give everyone smart phones instead of flip phones but I could be wrong.

Dorohedoro. I watched the anime first (it came out in 2020) and was really surprised when I later found out that the manga series started in 2000. It just goes to show that the series has this fresh punk quality to it that doesn't feel outdated.

Oh, cool! Wasn't aware that today was the anniversary of the first episode of the first season. Jojo is one of those series that feels timeless, but the anime does give it new life and I'm glad that it got all of the adaptations that it's getting.

Hi no Tori first serialized from 1966 - 1988. The first adaptation came out in 1986 and that only adapted like a fraction of it. There's a 2004 tv series tho but not sure how faithful it is.

Vinland Saga 2005, adaptation 2019.

Golgo 13: 1968, 1983 (movie), 2008 (50 eps tv series)

Oh that's true. But we could consider the most well-known one as THE adaptation, I guess... at least for me, since OP also mentioned JoJo (it had an anime in the 90s).

But yes, you are right.

Most of the 2004 anime is rushed, but the parts that aren't rushed are faithful enough.

Not a manga but it took exactly a decade for the Isekai Meikyuu de Harem wo light novel to get an anime adaptation.

Some say it is the true godfather of isekai as we know today.

The 2004 anime adapts 5 arcs. When combined with the three older adaptations, that's 8 out of 12 arcs.
The "Resurrection" and "Sun" arcs originally jump around between multiple perspectives. Sun alternates between 7th century and 21st century settings. The anime cuts all but one perspective from each arc, leaving Sun with only the 7th century storyline.
