Is it possible to add private entries?

I use both MAL and Anilist to keep track of what I watch. On Anilist you can click a little check box when you go to add an entry that says "Private" and while that's checked it will never show episode count updates, completion, etc. on your activity feed, nor will it show up under your anime list if someone goes to search for it. Is there a way to do that on MAL? I could've sworn there was a way to do it before...

If it's a way to hide r18 shows then no, there's really no other option other than to make a separate account for it which a lot of users tend to do

Sorry to dig this up but I think this should be a feature. A simple check box for each items on whether they show or not on your list whether it's public or friends. Thank you!

It is not necessarily hentai but also personal preferences towards specific styles that I should not have to hear criticism for.
Also it's a simple feature to enable so that I can keep my private garden private :) and peace of mind intact :).

Honestly think this would be a good feature to add. In theory it shouldn't be to hard. You could programmatically create a separate (private) list that would be added into the main list whenever the user views their anime list. Some people probably have seen an anime or 2 that they feel the public doesn't need to know about.

Would actually be nice. The feature on AL is amazing. It's not even about hentai but it's about people bashing one another for a different opinion. Like yes you can make it private or for friends only but what if you want an outsider to look at your list for either recommendations or whatever you want them to look for/at?.

But the devs of MAL have other priorities for now it seems as to ruin the entire layout of MAL for users.

I still think this would be a great addition. I am now erasing titles on my list just because I decided to share my list with friends in real life and I don't want them to know I've watched and actually enjoyed certain things

I support that statement, but I also I agree that there should be an option to hide certain entries. Maybe even with multiple levels like:
Everyone
Registered Users
Friends
Link Only ? (like you can give someone a unique link to your list and they can look at the hidden entries)

using this https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=2008302 and my CSS Tool it's now possible to hide any entry on your list, not just hentai.
