First it happened with the mother during the Rui fight.

Then they did it again during the Mugen train.

Last episode the little sister comes out of nowhere to remind him to breathe.

Now the little brother tries to wake him up.

This is getting a little overused now.

Well they are using different family member most of the times so it’s fine, for Nezuko and Tanjiro their family was everything to them so it’s fine if they use it over and over ig

Since the beginning of the series, the whole point was about a strong sense of familial bonds, and how far Tanjiro would go to preserve, and avenge his family.

I think that's fine but it's odd that a random family member just appears in their mind to save them or tell them to wake up to save the other sibling.

honestly man, everyone always complains about bad writing and made up power up, but like if they let the show put out more episodes this stuff all gets explained. People love feeling cool hating on an anime

Yeah, like they were hating on the instant powerups of Nezuko and Tanjiro a week ago and now that that was explained they hanging on their dead family coming up as a symbolism (on a battle shounen at that). They just want to stand out at this point.....

Idk why everyone saying you're hating it's a valid criticism. Not only because they've done it so many times but bc shonen in general has done it so many times. When the character is down and out think of someone you love and have a random power up. I just kinda go "that was kinda corny but whatever" and move on from it bc I've seen it so many times.

Maybe it is because of cultural difference between Westerners and Asians. In Asian cultures, we believe that our deceased family are still watching over us and sometimes, can help us during tough times. or warn us about an upcoming disaster.
There are many stories about a person was planning to take a trip and then they had a dream where a deceased family member stopped them and they listened to that. The next day, there was news that the flight or the bus they were supposed to take got in an accident that killed all passengers.
Tanjiro's family are still watching over them and always try to help them whenever it is possible.

They need something to explain the ass-pulls and it's staple of shounen anime. Nothing new.

I guess it's getting a bit overused. But I don't mind. I've had some similar experiences too. My dead grandma appeared one time when I was about to masturbate and she gave me the strength to hold back for another day.

I feel like an easier way of explaining the dead family’s reappearances is calling it a visual representation. Like during this new season Tanjiro is unconscious and one of his siblings is telling him to wake up and save Nezuko. As Nezuko saved him just before he fell unconscious, Tanjiro would know she’s around and since he needs to protect her, when he wakes up he immediately knows what to do. I think if you take the sibling waking up Tanjiro literally then yeah it’s inexplicable and dumb, but if you take it as a visual representation of him (in this case) regaining consciousness then I think it’s easier to understand.

When they first did it during the rui vs tanjiro fight it was great but now it is happening in every important arc making it too annoying, I got that family one of the most important theme in demon slayer but how much it is being used just make the show more annoying

Otherwise I agree, but you gotta keep in mind that these are in reality probably just Tanjiro and Nezuko's mental acrobatics that enable them to (for example) not kill themselves with overusing Sun Breathing, stop the demon mode from progressing etc. Then again, there are demons and shit running around so who's to say ghosts can't invade their thoughts. I think that much of it is just their imagination, just like how the waves, fire, wind effects and so on certainly don't exist. It just feels like that.

In short, visual representation.
uh oh!

This anime is a solid definition of a shounen tropes. Like in romcoms or shoujos that when a girl and boy meet up, became friends, confession, and a happily ever after.

I disagree, the family being dead plays a huge role in the plot so it’s understandable for them to keep appearing, it wouldn’t make sense if they was just never seen again.

His family meant a lot to him and the family was massacred by Muzan, he feels overly guilty for not being there and at least protect him. I believe they appear in their minds to show they still live on and want to encourage them to live in the real life and not end up like them.

Tanjiro and Nezuko only have each other, so having a deceased family member to remind their love to each other and also a way to protect their sibling from further harm.

I dunno, I feel my explanation didn't make sense T-T

I think its meant to be symbolic/emotional etc basically its just their consciousness telling them to wake up but as their family in stead but I do agree its becoming a thing thats used a lot lately and most likely will continue

I have to agree that Tanjirou's family appearing out of nowhere to save the day is being used a bit too much.

Not only that, what's up with Tanjirou's connection with ghosts for no apparent reason? this includes his ghost family appearing to save the day and those 2 ghosts he trained with in S1 near the rock.

Also, what's up with Tanjiro's blade turning black? this was never addressed, not even in the manga, it appeared like the story would be going somewhere with that plot but it never went anywhere.

I'm not hating on this season, it's still a decent season but I wanted an explanation for those things, oh well.

All nichirin blades wielded by worthy swordsmen change color. Inosuke's is "Indigo-Gray" aka blue, Zenitsu's is yellow, Tanjiro's black, etc. I'm not sure what you mean by it never being addressed though? Urokodaki said that not much is known about black blades because the wielders never go far. Rengoku then said that black swordsmen don't know which style to master. It's considered a bad omen for those reasons - black swordsmen don't survive long enough for the properties to even be discovered. It sets up Tanjiro as an antithesis to the whole "Chosen One" trope. His blade didn't turn bright red like Haganezuka was hoping for since Tanjiro is a "Child of Brightness."

What I meant is that in my eyes that sword turning black thing would lead somewhere later on but it never did, of course, this doesn't necessarily make an anime bad, I just wanted that sword turning black to lead somewhere, it was brought up like it was something important so I expected some importance out of it but it never happened.

For example, Tanjiro has an affinity to see Ghosts, for some reason he can see his family and the 2 guys he trained with near the rock, maybe this type of "affinity" has something to do with his sword turning black?

You know, something like that would lead somewhere, at least it would try to explain something, it would have been interesting IMHO.

Do you even watch anime?
The heck is the OP saying, and why your list is hidden? Are you scared? You only got less than 100 completed and you saying something like this is repetitive?

Back to the topic...
Mugen train did it right. It was a pretty emotional scene.
The question is not how many, instead it should be how well it was directed.

Ufotable did a great job with the execution on that arc.

I seen over 1000 anime, I can confirm that anime doesn't become out of no where. You should look at one anime and compare to the all anime between 1990 and 2021, and see what stand out as one of the several good anime. There's a solid reason every time. Don't disagree if you haven't seen most of them. :/
