First two episodes and we get a chapter adapted for each. When it comes to action fights MAPPA moves at a snail’s pace (at least that’s what it seems like for me) for some reason, Hell look at part 1 when they declared War on Paradis and it took 6 episodes for 5 chapters to get adapted.

well that is capitalism for you milking the cash cow to make MAPPA do 3 seasons too like WIT did and bonus points for MAPPA being in the production committee so that is huge profit boost

but i see a lot of people enjoying the slow pacing though

the chapters are like 40-50 pages which is the normal pacing for most anime so until now the pacing has been faster than average.

I personally think it’s fine, mainly cos I find it very interesting, and I ain’t the quickest so I’m usually still thinking about other things that happened. However although I don’t have any problems with the pacing, the start of s4 pt 1 was a bit of a letdown for me cos I was looking forward to seeing eren and co. but instead I had to deal with a bunch of characters that I hated (the brainwashed eldians) for several episodes (too long imo but that’s just adapted from the source so ain’t studio’s fault ig) which was kinda annoying. Icl i personally thought that some of the action scenes from wit, (despite being very good) were very lengthy and slow paced at times.

The pacing is adequate... Gives room for good rate of adaptation for chapters yet to come

Mappa doesn’t decide the pacing though? That’s more on the responsibility of the script writer in which AOT have had the same script writer all throughout the 4 seasons, Hiroshi Seko. I mean I guess the script writer may have consulted to them on how it will be paced though. Anyways, I find the pacing fine this season, I wouldn’t want them to cut anything out for the next few episodes.

It was not hypeful as part 1. I was expecting way more intense battles in the beginning of this part but it didn't live up to my expectations.

The pacing is good as it is. Imagine having some of the dialogues rushed or scenes being cut just for the sake of adapting 1.5 - 2 chapters. In Part 1, they rushed the first few episodes.

I think the pacing is fine. The problem is the recaps which might make it seem slow, we had them in both the eps so far. Also, the structure of the first ep was weird, they put the dialogue after the action and ended the episode while the hype was on the low. Ep2 is much better in this regard.

I don't mind the pacing at all. The only thing that matters is the story and animation. It's still not better than Wit and I don't think it will ever be but I hope it does.

Not a fan as well, the way the recap the first 2 minutes is just not good enough. But still the adrenaline rush during at the end is real. Specially "Ashes on fire" OST

You do realize that aot manga chapters are twice as long as most shonen manga chapters right? The pacing is perfect, better than season 1 pacing.

Now imagine this pace but for the 2 episodes where they'll adapt chapters 126 and 127. It's going to be painful.

It took them 6 episodes to adapt 12 chapters
Marley starts at 91 and declaration of war is on chapter 100. 2 chapters per Episode

The only criticism I had of the pacing in S4P1 was that they adapted the Marley arc far too quickly, and then adapted everything from 106 until 116 too slowly. I would have preferred 10 episodes on the Marley arc to flesh it out more, and 6 episodes that covered until 116 as it did drag a little at times.

S4P2 has been largely well-paced aside from the 2 minute recap at the start of this episode.

What you talking about mate? The pacing's been fine. I don't even mind the recaps since it's easier to recall what happened last week. The story, animation and voice acting are all that matter and they're all great AF

I kinda agree. I think it’s partly due to knowing how crazy the next couple episodes are gonna go. But yh, it’s a little too slow for me.

Yeah, it is a bit slow honestly-I never thought I will be saying that about AoT. It is noticeable that they are slowing down the story a bit.

It's still faster than a lot of animes remember each chapter is around 50 pages and on average I think they have adapted more than a chapter for each of These 2 episodes, overall I think aot was more fast paced in it's first 3 seasons now it's more about dialogues rather than fights

Honestly I'm hoping Mappa can salvage the dog ass conclusion somehow. I know they can't rewrite the story but maybe putting lipstick on a pig is the best it's gonna get. Having said that, there was a fair bit of wheel spinning this episode.

I'm actually loving the pace in the first 2 episodes. While I wish the scenes had been moved around a bit so the Titan fights happened continuously without a break.
I love character moments and the odd depiction of the overall carnage happening around the city.
In the manga all of the fights seemed to have happened really quickly. Here you get to see the common foot soldiers fighting eachother. Massacred in the streets. You see the air ships crashing and the city burning.
You get a better scope of a proper invasion taking place.

The fight scenes suffer quite a bit from the slow pacing but the dialogue scenes are basically perfect, it'a win-lose situation.

the cliffhanger of ep 2 was extremely annoying to me. it felt like hardly anything happened this ep and now we have to wait again (ive the read the manga so maybe it just feels more torturous but idk..)

Not a fan personally, when the first couple minutes of the episode were recap, I was not happy. Even tho it might not be the reason, they're probably just trying to milk the franchise as much as possible to get a movie, and that upsets me

It's a normal pacing IMO, AOT manga is 40-50 pages one most of the time only adapt 1.2-1.6 chapters per episode. Maybe people find it too slow because they are expecting insane amount of action from these episodes.

This pacing would be good if the dialogues were bearable and if the storyboard had some sort of common sense, not a huge fan either, just show me some big dong fights

Pacing is way too slow. Episodes seem to drag on for too long. In episode 18 the minutes before the OP were basically a recap of episode 17. If Mappa or whoever is really in charge really wanted they could end AoT in this part but if the rumors are correct they'll sell the ending through a movie. So this Final Season Part 2 is final in name only.

People forget that they had to fit 15 or so chapters and arrange events in such a way that after every episode people stay interested, for example chap 123 has to be its own episode, and that "eren scene" has to be a cliffhanger at the end of ep 3 (it can't be the end of ep 2 because things would be rushed, or at the middle of ep 3 because it would feels anti-climatic because we would know what happens right after). Therefore they needed to stretch things out these 2 eps and went for a slower pace.

I prefer this pacing over part 1 pacing in which they cut out many important things like zeke explaining how fritz changed their name to reiss and put a fake King fritz and about ackermans created as a result of titan experiment etc etc. Right now this not great but they are not cutting stuff so it's good.
