It's hard to say right now. But this fandom is going to get bigger in the future. I haven't seen any toxicity right now. We'll have to wait and see.

I do not think that the WHOLE community is going to be toxic, although it is inevitable that there is a certain group that will be (or already is)

For now it's a good fanbase, but later on some people could join and make the fandom toxic. not yet though

You're over exaggerating.I didn't see any hype outside of the anime community.Even Critical isn't talking about it.

If you exclude Twitter, it is not that bad.

One glance there, and you'll see something like that and similar:

Yes, Twitter really thinks that two characters of the same gender having any sort of interaction makes them homosexual. Even if they kanonically have a love interest of the other gender.

Its so annoying for me.
I get a stroke everytime now when i read "manga is masterpiece, just you wait".

I don't think TR fans are toxic (at least not from the ones I've seen) tho they do overate the anime/manga wayyyy to much tho I guess that's a problem with any fandom

You can be sure that the fandom is gonna keep getting toxic especially because of the female fans and their gay shipping even though there's absolutely nothing like that in the story. So annoying.

Most of the toxicity I've seen comes from the people outside of the fandom surprisingly. New viewers who can't understand, or rather, don't want to understand, why Tokyo Revengers is doing so well. They hate to see it succeed, call it overrated and bash on it every week, start drama... but still continue to watch. Hate watchers man...

Yes, it's time travel with middle school biker gangs. I won't deny that it's kinda goofy and unrealistic. Yes, it's not as deep as those other sci-fi "masterpieces", but I still find it enjoyable and somewhat refreshing. It's different... in a good way. Seriously, you can like other shows people.

Personally, I'm a big sucker for gang shenanigans and these types of relationships/dyanmics where troubled kids with rough upbringings come together to find someplace to belong. It can be seen as cheesy to those unfamiliar with these types of gang relationships or developments, but the author manages to deliver some rather touching, emotional, or heartbreaking moments that keep me invested. There are times, however, where TR gets a little too shounen for me, later on down the line, but we'll see how people respond to that when those scenes get adapted in the future. It's not perfect, and I do have a lot of criticisms that I can't discuss here because of spoilers, but there's a reason why it's sooo popular right now. I read all the way to the latest chapter in like a day or two it was that engrossing lol

On a side note, I've noticed that shows that involve time travel tend to attract a certain demographic... Mainly "intellectuals" who have to dissect every little detail and uncover "plot holes" or inconsistencies and compare it to Steins;Gate or whatever... Criticism is certainly allowed, but it's really not that serious or deep guys. There will be character development too, but this is only season 1... Don't hate on my boi, he's a little slow but he's trying his best. He'll get some time to shine.

But, those types of conversations are inevitable I guess.

I, on the other hand, look forward to watching it every week and seeing the community's more uh... positive responses. Hopefully, with increased support comes a better adaptation and we'll see future seasons with improved, consistent art and animation.. The directing is good at least. Don't sleep on this series!

It reminds me of the Black Clover fanbase. Not particularly toxic but a lot of the fans seem to fight for their lives when somebody criticises it.

That's over-exaggerating things. AOT's popularity was because of its influence even outside the anime community.
Tokyo Revengers hasn't offered anything to pander to casuals.

It's already getting toxic because of some stupid female fans who are only here to ship two straight guys. They are so annoying, I wish they would disappear, I really can't stand them, they disgust me. Tokyo Revengers has nothing to do with gay stuff so go read your yaoi and don't bother us.

The TR fanbase is actually "fine". They aren't nice but I have never seen them be toxic lol. Like someone else said, the anime watchers are really the toxic ones. Especially the haters, who bash the anime whenever they can.

You can tell especially when someone in this thread says "They just say the manga is a masterpiece and some even spoils without knowing themselves. It's so annoying for me"

I don't know about you but getting annoyed by a non-toxic fanbase enjoying an anime is pretty toxic. This is one of the rare cases where the haters are more toxic than the fans lmao.
I gave up on character of the week since it takes too much thinking. I'll just change my forum pfp to whoever I want every week lol.

I'm not one to interact with Fandoms in most cases so if I see some toxicity in the normies realm then the answer is obvious. For the most part no one from any side gives a dam about the anime in a toxic way.

As soon as you say you're not impressed with the show, say because of the MC for example, they lash out on you. They can't take criticism.

I said that I don't understand why the MC has to be this bad for the change/development to seem significant, and someone was like "then drop it". I don't know if that counts as toxicity or not.
I sometimes forget to finish my sentences.

So far...I have never seen any toxic ppl...well I had seen few but there are not many of them but yeah I have seen where ppl sexualise the minors like they draw arts you know and that's kinda uncomfortable to see. But, most fans I counter are all nice and cool!!

I don’t think it will turn toxic, it’s too mature for it. If it gets overly popular, maybe. Or if people start hardcore pointing out toxicity.

Ofc we can expect _some_ degree of toxicity but that’s expected everywhere tbh. Our best shot is to keep it contained.

I’m a little afraid about the male part of the fandom on tt/twt (and here lmao) gatekeeping and bashing shipping a little too much, fr why do you care they’re headcanons (and this isn’t coming from a shipper, never been the type). I think tr attracts more girls in comparison to the usual gang-shonen because of its more sentimental tones but that’s… it?

If this is toxic it means you haven’t witnessed mha/hq/aot fandoms at their finest.

I hope the deeper tones of this anime will keep the toxic ppl away, it didn’t work with aot but I blame (tumblr, ofc, and) its EXTREME popularity on that one.

The best way to avoid toxicity is to just let people have their (bad) takes + headcanons and scroll away if you disagree. People argued and interacted with the first mha exaggerated fans and you can see what happened. Boi this isn’t my first rodeo I’ve survived tiktok, tumblr and Twitter, trust me on this one.

Not that I've seen so far. Seems alright.

The manga is selling like hot cakes in Japan but I've heard nothing outside of it to suggest it has the popularity yet to start attracting a vocal enough minority that even registers on the toxicity scale.

Well The Anine watchers are the toxic ones and cringy ones too I was a manga reader before the anime was actually announced but I have actually seen no toxicity and no gay ships and most of the manga watchers are good but the anime watchers are the most toxic ones and they made a meme out of it's all mikeys fault and everyone started to use that and it became a lot of cring and overused . The manga readers never actually made it a meme and overused
