I liked the ending, but nothing really happened. It would have been nice if any of the character development had survived for more than a single episode. especially Tamami's, she was still being a b*tch even at the end, even though she knew that she was being selfish and inconsiderate to the person she claims to love more than anyone else.

also, while did Haibara's book have to fail? just because he had some more money coming in doesn't mean that he's going to leave. he must have had a successful book or something in the past for him to be able to afford to live there as it was.

I'd like to know what they told her about that cake, since she's not supposed to know that the others exist.

This show is somehow nice to watch. But the show just ended... somethings were not explained and we didn't saw the kiss, not even a hug, i mean did they end together?

Im gonna read the manga and see if its better.

This show surprised me. I wasn't expecting it being that good. Its not usual type of the show where 1 guy got attention of all girls and all other guys get jealous of him. There were many type of relationships like mother-daughter, best friends, long distance relationship...
i liked it . its unique in its own way :)

Though i miss something, guess they should have kiss at least, Id like second season for that.
(Also but not necessary her other personalities could have been fused in to Kozue-chan and her mind healed due to Shiratori-kun being there for her now she doesn't need to hide from reality anymore she can cry at his shoulder if theres need) :P

8/10 for show :)
( Currently interested in OP MC genre. Recommendations are welcomed, preferable those yet not on my list )

Good show. They could have used more episodes to develop other residents.

I actually read the manga a while back, before watching the anime. I'm disappointed that they didn't include the ending. They also changed Kozue's backstory somewhat as well.

A lot of things made it into the show, but many also got left out or changed. For example, Sayo-chan constantly trying to kill herself, or the Tama-chan vs teacher fun. Overall, it was still amusing to watch, but really doesn't live up to the manga.

Just finished this. Fun to watch, interesting...

THOUGH

1.A lot of bother could have been saved if someone had gotten Kozue-chan a THERAPIST! Like..after the parents passed.

2.And I was expecting that somehow Kozue would have been awoken by...UMEBOSHI!

10/10 anyways! The children's story tho....liable to mislead children into thinking that there are magical rugs or somewhat...

For what might be an otherwise standard SOL that focuses more on 'just things happening' and less on an overall plot (which it does, by the way, and if you're looking for something with more substance of plot you're just watching the wrong show) I thought this was surprisingly pretty nice.

Well, this finale was mostly a retelling of the picture story + reactions from Kozue's personalities.

Everyone pulling up at the end was so outta nowhere, last minute and super forced....I loved it, lol. As far as enjoyment goes it really was a great anime.

Read the manga alongside and I'm looking forward to the conclusion there.

12 year old comment, but I don't care

A bit harsh. I mean, Tamami admitted that she cared only about herself, that's plenty for an evil person like her xD

I'm kinda sad that they didn't follow the manga despite having 26 episodes which means enough episodes to cover the manga.

I wish they touched more on Johnny! Like how all the other residents had an entire episode to themselves.

Very surprised the romance went nowhere at the end though that did change my opinion on the series much. I think the strength of the series was some light hearted comedy while the negatives were on the drama out of nowhere. Kind of curious how the mc would deal with all the forms of the girl though. Lol

Decent ending, although it could have been much more fulfilling. It's alright though, since it isn't the complete adaptation.

Overall, love it.

Phew the ending is just sort of temporary closure for anime only but I thought it's fine for what it is. As much as I love Maison Ikkoku, I have to say that I like most of the tenants here and the drama much better than Ikkoku. The drama in this show were surprisingly great and very impactful for a gentle and silly lighearted slapstick comedy. Mahoraba doesn't have any annoying misunderstandings to drive the drama like in Maison Ikkoku. For show that pretty much peak 2000s Moe artsyle, it also doesn't have any fan service just pure iyashikei with a little hint of drama slipping through, I love it so much. The soundtracks in the show are all so good too. The handling of Kozue's Dissociative identity disorder was also tactful and it never made fun of her illness for the sake of comedy which is also very nice. Kozue is a pure sweetheart and also the heart of the show that binds them all together with a very strong bond familiarity, friendship and love. It also don't forget to remind you to always cherish every precious moment that you have with the love ones. Mahoraba is telling the story about the life of these people that happened to have a landlady with a very unique condition. So the first encounter between Shiratori with Kozue from the start of the show might disappoint some people for lack of romance because let's be real, people come to this show for the pairing lol. But that's fine to me. Just like Kozue said in the earlier episode, "peach and chestnut trees take three years to bear fruit, persimmon trees take eight years, citrons get demoted after 9 years, and the stupid pears take 18 years ." There is a great time for everything and everything takes time. I heard the manga is even better than the anime so I'll just go continue the story there for its conclusion.

9/10 PEAK 2000s MOE. ;D

This show definitely had a lot of promise. I thought about dropping it after episode 9, but I'm glad I kept watching. The main cast and extended cast are pretty great, even Tamimi and Momo become much more bearable by the end. We really could have spent more time with background characters, and we definitely needed an episode focused on Johnny.

It really doesn't make sense why Sayoko completely went back to her old life. You would think her rich parents would cover her rent at least. It also doesn't really make sense why she was so determined to never move on. Finding a new partner doesn't mean she stops loving the old one. She has to think about providing for Asami too.

Momo's long-distance relationship is also weird. They're apart for years. They never call or visit, just occasionally exchange letters. Does she really think he'll become an award-winning film maker after a few years? It might take him 10 just to break into the industry. And yet she always says, "accomplish your dream first, then come back to me." She's basically waiting for him to find someone else, and I felt like that was going to happen after a while.

The romance was way too weak in the story. It takes him so long to say her last name. It takes 20 episodes for them to hold hands even though they go on one date early on. He never actually tells her that he remembered her. They never explained why his drawings "saved her" as a kid. They don't even really spell out the reason for her personas. "You don't need imaginary friends because you're not alone anymore." I was expecting the last episode to be him comforting each girl, for the storybook to say the important pieces she gave away returned to her, and for him to seal it all with a kiss.

The slice-of-life bits are fun, but the show takes too long to get going. It almost feels like things are done out of order, which strangles the pacing. Like Momo is trying to force him to crossdress the episode before they humanize her. You need to show at least flashes of her good side earlier if you want your audience to like her.

5/10. Could have easily been great. The personality switching is a comedy goldmine that writes itself. The trauma associated with DID easily lends itself to tear-jerking scenes. But we never really dip our toes below the surface. We hint at what's below and let it remain a mystery.
