I don't know if you know but there is this thing in writing called IRONY. It's what happened here. Plus this wouldn't be the first time that Eren said something in the earlier chapters and did the exact opposite of what he had intended then. Remember Eren's conversation with Bert and Reiner in the trees in season 2 where he lambasted them for killing people that did no wrong for him. Only for Eren to do the exact same thing to the people of Marley. And the entire world I guess. |

Everyone he touches he ruins. There is no escape from this cruel certainty but humble acceptance. One can only hope the judgment day passes without their turn comes. Maybe the real Lelouch was Isayama all along. Uniting all of the fanbase but the people who already lost their sanity against their one common enemy: the shittiest ending in history. |

I for one didn't really saw him as this man who abandoned his humanity to destroy the world. I always believed that his primary goal was to save Mikasa and Armin because of the memories The Owl received in season 3 which is what he accomplished here. Also The Rumbling pretty much decimated the world's entire military structure and chances are atleast half of the world's population is already dead. I am not saying that they are all going to shake hands and sing Kombaye. Hell, the freaking leaks point this out to. The ending isn't idealistic. It knows that conflict is inevitable but atleast with this, Eren provided them with a chance to finally do the one thing that they all should have done from the very start: talk with each other. And while I am not really an EreMika shipper, I never believed that Eren didn't have some feelings for Mikasa. He knew at the very least she harboured some feelings when she thanked him back at the end of season 2. Hell, he even asked her in 123 why she cared about him this much. The idea of Eren developing some feelings for her isn't really out of the question. |
