It's neither Noein or Higashi no eden, tnx for replies though. I haven't watched Noein before but it sounds interesting. The art style is more "modern" like Zetsuen no Tempest or even Jormungand from what I remember. But it's been a while since I watched it so I'm not really sure how old it is...

It is about a girl that asks for help from the legendary swordfighter. Her village is about to be destroyed by the army or something.
