As expect, with the release of volume 19, KNY is still trendy. Until February 2, 17 million copies were sold.

With 3 million copies are sold from last week, the franchise has sold over 20 million this year so far.

I hope the story's ending will be satisfying so it will not affect the upcoming volumes. It seems the upcoming movie will not affect much to the series sales until this point.

I haven´t caught up with the manga but I heard that its like in its final battle or something already. Hope the creator get to end the series on her own terms rather then milk it out just because its extremely popular lol

My biggest regret for this series is that we cannot witness Rengoku's father and Urokodaki in action. Before the fight with Muzan, I had hoped that new Upper Moon 5 located Nezuko and attacked them so we could see their fight skills.

I'm not as big a fan of the manga as I am of the anime, but I'm really happy for Gotouge and I hope it continues doing very well until the end.

Amazingly, volume 19 with Obanai's cover page sold 1.378.000/1.500.000 initial copies in last week. I guess when I type this comment, all the copies were sold out during this week. If VIZ releases English versions faster, the sales can be definitely higher for volume 14-19.

Without no doubt, volume 20 will have more initial prints than volume 19 with this pace. KNY is really attacking on "Titans" of the manga industry now. Unfortunately, the manga's glory will vanish within this year because the story nearly ends.

Even though I am a neutral reader, I must admit that the commercial and social success of KNY should be carefully studied: KNY franchise (manga, bluray, and fan stuff) generated over ¥3 billion, approximately $35 million, from Dec 30th to Feb 2nd. Tanjirou, the best charcoal seller, now can help Ufotable pay its tax, lol.

It is a very interesting development which I am watching in the shadows. I'm still just 6 episodes in the series and so far its alright but what it is doing is certainly impressive.

I'm so happy for Getouge sensei! been supporting the manga as well, pretty hard to get a copy so you need to pre-order ASAP before them running out.

Interesting stats. With sales like these, I'm surprised the publisher hasn't asked the author to elongate / extend the series as long as physically possible to maximise those profits.

The series probably has another 10-15 chapters max before it ends.

In my opinion, there is another scenario although it may sound illogically. Despite of the success of KNY, it seems that Shueisha, especially Jump, loves other old series than KNY right now. Even though KNY is a cash cow for the company, unlike Western companies, Japanese companies may favor seniority more than talent.
It happens all the time in the world: you are the best money maker for your company but you may not have the best chance for promotions without backing up by your seniors. As a newbie with a huge success like this, you can be a target for bullying and hatred at workplace. Why can it happen? The answer is that Jump can heavily criticize other authors and editors due to their lack of popularity. From Wikipedia, KNY is the only youngest manga (4 years old) which has 40 million copies worldwide until now.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_manga
My assumption can be silly: the way Gotouge tells the story in recent chapters is different from their style in previous arcs, it seems the author "was forced" to rush to the ending. The success of KNY can upset loyal fans of other "titans", which can lead to the decrease of revenue in long-term for Jump. In order to save reputation for some long-term manga and their authors, such as Oda, Jump may not want to boost KNY so much.

This is just my personal opinion, we never know what actually happens inside the industry.

I doubt this is the reason it's ending.
The manga was not considered popular before the anime at all, so i think the mangaka planned to end the series before the anime because it was not very popular and when the anime became extremely popular it was already too late to change directions in the manga.

Read this about this here [link]. Sad that the mangaka is pushing with ending the series soon. But gotta respect that in spite of recent success, the mangaka isn't using that as a reason to suddenly change the direction of the story but is instead pursuing the original plan. Although, I'm not too sure if the manga is actually coming to an end soon. I've only read about it in forums.
Ya boy is going to Con Alt Delete 2020! See you there!

There is still a feasible option to extend the main story without dragging it. If I were the author, I would switch the scene to Nezuko, who is running alone now. There are 59 mins left until dawn, pretty much time for an ambush with around 10 chapters more, lol. During 70 chapters, Nezuko shortly only appeared 2 times. Many fans were hooked to the manga due to her cuteness. I still hope that Muzan has a new Upper Moon 5 or Gyokko is alive, his hidden card. He filled the position of UM4 and UM6 but left a vacant of UM5. Moreover, the author must show how and why Muzan killed the family and turned only her into a demon through Nezuko's flashback. It is an important detail.

That would be my line of thinking. The author probably had a good idea of when they would end the manga before it blew up last year.

As it should. The Kimetsu no Yaiba is actually super good and even sometimes when I don't like what's going to happen, I'm always excited for the new volumes or chapters released.

Unfortunately, they cannot sell more until next month due to the delay in the reprint schedule, especially volume 19. They initially printed only 1.5 mil but 1.38 mil copies were sold last week. It means there are around 122.000 copies left until the next reprint.
This week and next week, we may see the significant drop of KNY sales because of shortage of supply.
Here is the reprint schedule:
