For some reason hitting/smacking people is some sort of gag in anime and it's honestly starting to bother me a bit. People don't actually act like that irl, do they? It's a bit odd lol

Dunno, but I agree with you that it is bothering. Only sometimes I find it funny. And yeah, people don't actually act like that in Japan lol.

As mentioned its slapstick and it's pretty much been a gag everywhere since like the 16th century. For a comparable reference many early anime were inspired by Disney or other western cartoons and if you were to watch some of those you'd also see a lot of slapstick.

Occasionally they are pretty funny so in a sense it works so I guess that's why they use it

It kinda works as comedic effect but some series take it too far, to the point where a character is just strangely violent and abusive for no reason and nobody seems to mind it. Toradora threads a real fine line, for example, domestic abuse and violent partners are not funny experiences.

You can buy lossless digital music from your favorite Japanese artists on https://ototoy.jp/.

ps. if you are looking for Japanese albums, you have to search it in Japanese (not romaji). Just copy and paste the name.

Because everything that has a shape has a comedic side to it?
You should first understand what comedy and laughing are before you ask this question.
You seem to have a trauma regarding violence.

It always existed in small doses, but it got really bad once Rumiko Takahashi came on to the scene.

I'm not a fan of her works for many reasons.

For some reason teenage sexuality/fucking is some kind of comedy in american movies and it's starting to bother me a bit. People don't act like that in the US, do they? It's odd lol.

i think it's some kind of japanese traditional comedy, such as manzai, they do that in variety shows or gag shows not just in anime, it's just for show & entertainment anyway.
i think it's more horrible people that do pranks and upload it on youtube

Tom and Jerry? Looney Toons? The 3 stooges? It's everywhere since always, it's not a japanesse stuff.

I do find odd that they use it considering how their culture is.

the bolded part is so true. the most striking example include a guy who would kick a cat (heard this from anther youtuber, who for obvious reasons chose not to show the actual footage) and a couple who verbally abused their children "as a prank"
