A question for those of you who prefer subs - have you ever felt the inclination to watch a Japanese dub (maybe with subtitles) of a favorite non-Japanese animated work?

There reason I prefer subs is because very few dubs are able to bring out emotions as well as subbed anime, the same goes for non-japanese animated works I prefer watching it in the language the original creator speaks in unless the dub adds something to the voices that can makes the characters and the show better like Ghost Stories.

Rwby is the only show on the top of my head I'd bother to.

No but thats because there are very few good dubs. Most of the time, the dialogue sounds unnatural.

The Simpsons in Japanese is great, except for Bart he had a pretty shitty voice.

Don't worry about being lame now, you were always lame anyway!

Nope, never. I almost always prefer the original dub in any lenguage, except for a few exceptions. I like anime but I'm not a Japan lover.

I'm curious but no. I majority of times always watch shows/movies by its original language.

Help, I'm hooked into the Fate series (not all) and am obsessed with Shirou x Saber!
Also, forever hoping for a ufotable remake of the Fate route!

I like to see some in Japanese dubs but no, I like it more when they are on their original language.

In terms of understanding what they are saying I prefer the dub but for voice acting I prefer the sub.

I've watched a couple of episodes of My Little Pony: FIM's Japanese dub just to see how Japanese dubs of western cartoons are, and it wasn't bad. It did sometimes have the problem of "sped up" dialogue that a lot of English dubs have, because they need to cram the lines in a specific time frame meant for a different language, but for the most part, it sounded a hell of a lot better than a lot English dubs I've watched. They even managed to mimic some of the original voices almost perfectly.

Also, I'll watch a good dub if it's done right, like with Space Dandy, Cowboy Bebop, Steins;Gate, FMA (2003), but I usually prefer subs these days, because they fit the setting and themes of a lot of anime much better.

OP here... In general, I concur with those who have responded that it's best to watch any film or series in the original language, at least in most cases. That said, I can think of a handful of favorites that I would be curious to see in Japanese, just for variation and out of curiosity. Subtitles might be helpful but some of those films I know so well they'd be superfluous.
