| as the internet technology progresses more its not impossible to think that our brain can directly connect to the internet in the future so its not impossible to think thought police will be invented, same with brain hacking and ads in our minds especially if capitalism is still the economic system by then im scared of thought police more because personally im fine with some limit to freedom of speech but when it comes to freedom of thought it should be absolute imo, i do not want some authority like the police to constantly spy/monitor, ban, punish or just heavily influence my thoughts brain hacking is more scary yes but todays computer hacking is not much of a widespread problem so i expect future brain to internet connection hardware to have some good security against hacking so do you think this technologies will happen? what evil future internet technology are you scared more? and other thoughts about this are welcome EDIT: added social credit system of china on the poll https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_Credit_System EDIT: added more fake news that can lead to infocalypse source https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1742504&show=0#msg55841332 |

| A global China-style social credit system, scary as fuck. Edit: Any sort of ID requirement for making comments on social media or elsewhere. I've seen a few politicians and journalists toss around the idea. |

IMO the most worrying thing is not a technology but change in mentality of users, and it is already present. People replacing irl relationships with online equivalent for example. If things like this will become a norm for significant part of humanity in the future, then some kind of global crisis likely to happen. To complete the image add cybersectarianism and brainwashing of various sorts. |

| Well you could always choose to not to have a neural link to technology but even if you did it can't take info from your brain just external storage. It could maybe read or even partially control your thoughts though. If ads could be projected into peoples heads it would probably take place in dreams. Worst most likely threats already exist or can exist with today's technology. You could take a concept similar to social credit but without the punishments and turn it into a game with it's real motives hidden and make the consequences not so obvious for many by making it all seem like a game only. You could get people to rat out friends to police or carry out surveilence or hack accounts simply by making it fun for the users and give them that high of in game accomplishments and make the rewards appear in real life for extra power over people. Any government or terrorist group can utilize this. |

Brainwashing, thought control, and more are hard to enforce while the credit system might be filled with corruption. i can agree with your point too considering that social credit system is being implemented on china already, we might see how it will affect their society as a experimental case |

| Every country invested in geopolitics (Israel, Russia, China are the biggest online because the USA has all the news corps) and political group has an army of pundits, false-flaggers, psyops and even (God help me) memesmiths poisoning every venue of human communication. It's part of hyperreality spinning out of control. It's impossible to sift through the news, let alone through raw information, to find out what's real and what isn't, because, by definition, bullshit is much easier and quick to be created than to be debunked. Signal is always rare, a line of meaning amidst a universe of noise, and those fucks are piling the noise on in exponential amounts. Eventually the signal-to-noise ratio will reach zero, and civilization will collapse in an infocalypse. |
