Loved this episode. Hiro being a confident man and not being a flustered little boy with Zero Two this episode was really nice to see. These Hiro and Zero Two moments are making me kinda sad though. Its like they are really setting us up for something heartbreaking between them in the future.

And Mitsuru and Kokoro! Was not expecting that!! That was awesome to see!! Still can't really believe that happened between them haha

Am I the only who's thinking Kokoro's decision to have a child is not only stupid but also pretty immoral? Like getting pregnant will put her and by extension the Franxx she pilots with Mitsuru out of commission for several months as I doubt her body would be able to take the strain of piloting while bearing a child. This could end up putting her teammates at a big risk as time goes on.

Going past that, there's still the question of whether or not it's ethical to bring a new life into this world in the first place. What kind of life would await a child they have to leave behind? (probably before it grows too much if the advanced aging theory is correct) Would it have to go through the same training as they have? Would it be consigned to a life of fighting the Klaxosaurs? Chances are having a child before the whole war is cleared up puts them at a big risk of experiencing a life of fear and suffering. Is having a child just out of some desire to "leave something behind" really the right choice?

Kinda reminds me of the recent film A Quiet Place:

I brought up the first point earlier as well. She's acting completely selfishly with no regard for her own, her child, and most importantly - humanity's future. She's out of line and has fucked up priorities. She's a mecha pilot keeping what's left of humanity safe, not a housewife. This is no time for pregnancy.

How would you feel if you were raised since birth to act as a soldier until your death or spend your whole life serving others? Protecting humanity is important but its ridiculous slavery to task someone with that burden their entire life without letting them ever pursue their own desires. Kokoro never asked to be a soldier and if she has to die to protect humanity she should at least be able to pursue some of her own desires before she does.

People who hate on Kokoro for breaking the promise are completely missing the context behind it.
1. They were in the middle of a mission. Do people think she should reject Futoshi right before a battle and probably get themselves killed due to conflict? Futosh pressured her into making that promise by choosing the completely wrong time and place
2. When she made that promise, she didn't even know that the partner switch was an option

She could have been more sensitive to Futosh's feelings but hating on Kokoro is ridiculous especially given that their environment couldn't be less ideal for learning how to navigate situations like these

I don't think she knows the implications of having the burden of a child. For all she knows maybe they mate like animals and somehow a life comes into existence. You have to keep in mind that they're all totally in the dark about everything and she's curious about this new found "power" that they might have that contradicts the idea that they were created by Papa.

Oh, I'm sure that she has little to no idea about what she's getting herself into with pregnancy and raising a child. Point is, she should be smart enough not to take such a risk when there are people and by extension whole race that is depending on you.

At this point she has suspicions of the validity of Papa creating them. If she can create life, it means that she confirms that they're being lied to. If that's the case then she might question whether other things that they've been told are true or not. I think she is pretty sharp in realizing some of these things or maybe I give her too much credit for wanting to know the truth.

She’s not an adult. Teenagers are more likely to make irrational decisions especially in her case where she has limited understanding and no guidance.

I agree your points on how she's been to Futoshi, but I still can't get behind the child stuff. I understand why she has those desires and all, but the child born into this world would likely just share the same fate, put into as you said this "ridiculous slavery task." Following her desires would likely just create another child forced to live a short life of conflict, and quite frankly I don't think that's fair to the hypothetical child.

That's quite a question dude. As if anyone can know that. What they're subjected to is an indoctrination of sort and as far as I know it's pretty hard to sway people who are indoctrinated from very young age, so I would probably be loyal?

She's only a teen, underage even most likely. There'll be plenty of time for her to get pregnant (if she doesn't die in a fight that is). Some will call it slavery, others will call it honor and duty. She's been given that task because few can do it. I'd like to point out that there has been a breakthrough in the fight against Klaxs lately, pointing at possible ultimate victory. It shouldn't bee to much for her to wait a while longer, should it?

As I said before, I couldn't care less about Futoshi or his feelings beyond how it affects the squad's performance. That's why making a promise she likely didn't plan on keeping and then breaking it very quickly in a very bad manner is one of the worst things she could've done, especially knowing his personality. As I said, it might've turned out that she's not compatible with Mitsuru and has to continue piloting with Futoshi. Imagine how bad it would be after her attempted (in this hypothetical scenario) partner switch. The dynamic would be completely broken and you're pretty much down one mecha. She could've cleared it up with Futoshi before trying out compatibility with Mitsuru, I'm sure he'd be dissapointed, but with how pathetically forgiving he is towards her, I'm sure he'd manage somehow.

Ok first of all Kokoro is not a whore. But she most certainly is an immature, ignorant kid who makes bad decisions.

On another note that book she had...just how much detail did it go into? It looked like a friendly kids book (although when the Nines start reading about that fetus shit I was like um....) I just wanna know if it clearly tells you all the steps to the birds and bees because otherwise how the hell did they even know how to do it? Maybe they're just naked in bed together and failed because realistic if an ignorant kid like Mitsuru started moving in on an unprepared Kokoro I'd find it more likely for them to stop than go all the way.

At absolute worst. These kids are barely functioning members of society aside from following the adults aimlessly and interacting with one another. Thought I may have just described pretty much every anime character with that one. Despite the war with the gummies Kokoro probably thinks/thought "Papa" would consider her feelings and allow something like that to occur. She has no idea how much trouble she and Mitsuru have gotten themselves into. Assuming Naomi (the original partner for Hiro was going to be disposed of or at least reprogrammed for something else (like Nana who probably had a use after she enter adulthood or was no longer an adequate fighter) we can assume they powers that be will likely A) Euthanize her or B) Reprogram her in some capacity.

Aside from that a lot of the criticism I've seen about the female characters lately makes me feel like I'm on a board with a bunch red pillers. I mean sure from a subjective point of view you can go on about loyalty or consideration. But I'm not sure if this is because the characters didn't fulfill the typical anime girl role we're all so used to seeing or y'all in some way just misogynistic. Refusing any practical autonomy in these girls and projecting it on them.

And this kinda supports what I had written above. Sure she technically broke a promise with Futoshi but mass-murder? I know you're not serious about the extreme and all but part of me feels at least the entitlement you're projecting through Futoshi and onto Kokoro runs kinda deep. They didn't fuck, they didn't date, they didn't kiss, the only theing that could be possibly implicit of a relationship is the symbolism involving the mechas and the early on pairing in animes in general. Beyond that they're just friends...

I think they went all the way. She went ultra-instinct on son pelvis. Dat girl Megatrachea sucked the shit out of that garden hose and found the golfball Sergeant Hartman was talking about. She caught the drill that drills straight to the heavens in that room. What Kokoro did to Mitsuri's back puts the scratch marks in zero two's room to shame. Some of Eminiem's lyrics were inspired by what transpired (bars) by what went on in that room. Mitsuru inspired Tyrone's "long dick style." Mitsuru used the infinity stones and infinity gauntlet to reduce Kokoro's hymen to dust.

But seriously Anime seldom shows things getting that far. The last time I saw a scene like that was between older characters (Argevollen) and before that it was a rape scene (Valvrave) *shudders*

That is highly dependent on the animation studio. I think the girls from Lucky Star were in their teens, too but could pass for kindergartners.

are you serious? Did you forget how much of a douche the dude doing the cucking is? He should have died after he paired with someone else the first time tbh.

edit: To be completely honest with everyone here, I wished I had never watched this show. It sucks how in japan is the norm to have these predetermined pairs in anything then have some douchebag steal the girl from another guy. How the author can make a girl fall for a complete douchebag is beyond me. At least, make the romance only for the main pair and leave everything else as is. if I wanted to watch NTR I would go to a hentai site and do it there. Don't see why they keep pushing for these NTR is the norm kinda crap in everything that comes out from japan.

we can only hope my dude, death to everyone except the 2 MCs

edit: in a serious note this is how I would like this to end:

everyone dies ("humans", pope too, etc..) except for Zero Two and Hiro, they are "true" humans and what had happened was that humanity had evolved, but some people (church) didn't like this and tried their best to genetically alter and create "old humans".

The above for me would be the best ending possible, whats the cause for humans evolving? who fucking knows.

Another ending I would appreciate would be for Futoshi to have a psychological breakdown after finding out what Kokoro and Mitsuru and fucking kills them, this would be extremely hilarious to me.

There was so much going on and so many reveals and hints in this episode I could hardly keep up. After 5 minutes in I forgot all about Hiro's horns.

So Mitsuru and Kokoro did something forbidden. I'm sure that Kokoro is now pregnant, otherwise what was the point of this extended buildup? Papa will not be pleased. A pregnant girl probably can't pilot a Franxx. I have a bad feeling for them, they are going to be made an example of and either be killed or at the least detained, maybe to return at some point, or maybe not.

Am I the only one who was cheering when the Klaxosaur Princess went ballistic all over those "peace negotiators"? I think by now we should all know who are the Good Guys and who are the Bad Guys. At some point the children are going to turn on Papa and either join the Klaxosaurs or simply refuse to do their job, which would have the same effect. The X Factor in all this is Dr. Franxx, is he a Good Guy or a Bad Guy? Since Papa and his gang are clearly Bad Guys, I think Franxx will turn out to be a Good Guy and will somehow be instrumental in turning the children, maybe at the cost of his life.

Of course they will also have to fight and defeat the Nines before it's all over.

Now who comes out alive? Right now I think the only one who will NOT die is Hiro, I just don't see that. I think either Zero Two or Ichigo will bite the dust. Zero Two probably has the largest Death Flag over her head, but maybe she will make it through. As for the others, some will make it and some will not. This show is too dark to have a Disney ending.

Now this is just all speculation, since this is anime-original who knows how it will turn out. But for me anyway, this makes the most sense right now.

We still need more reveals about who the Klaxosaurs really are, and what everyone's goals are.

A great show and a great episode 5/5.

Piss off, Fatoshi. He pressured her into saying sure, she had no idea that swapping was even an option so what else would she say? You could tell she was just placating him, there were obvious allusions to her being attracted to/interested in Mitsuru before that particular episode, and when given the option to switch, she took it.

And how is this your first post??? /smh/

Beyond that they're just friends...

are you serious?

You're talking about Mitsuru, correct? Here's the thing; these children have been trained their entire lives to fulfil the role of Franxx pilots all for papa's sake. He knew the partnership with glasses wasn't doing it, him, being aloof and a tad arrogant (due to his relationship with Hiro) blamed this largely on his partner. He attempted to find a better match with the worst of the lot and nearly died, that definitely threw him off his game. If we are to look at the partnering as romantic or sexually (at least symbolically) is basically the equivalent of being pinned down by a hot chick and fucked to orgasm in a matter of seconds (though it was minutes I'm guessing but for the sake of comparison) in plain view of "the boys." While dude who he really isn't cool with for whatever reason (promise/ghey shit [joking]) pretty much goes through the hurdles, often with a smile on his face.

By playing the aloof character he pretty much shoved his foot in his mouth and really has issues opening up to others about his humiliation. Despite this the kind sweet girl who's been crushing on him (for probably a while) suggested working closely with him. Being the only one who would even consider getting close to him and her finding that info regarding human reproduction it was almost inevitable they would get closer.

Big homie didn't get "cucked" he simply didn't have those feelings for Kokoro returned to him. It happens, she's not an evil person and while on some level it does seem like the "asshole" kid gets the girl in the end he really isn't an asshole but rather an emotionally immature teenager who never learned to cope with (perceived) betrayal. I've kinda been in the big guy's shoes being passed up for guys who I "knew" were gonna break the girl's heart and asked myself why didn't they make the "right" choice problem is people don't make the right choice (and we already know how subjective "right" can be) they make it based on emotions or perceptions that we believe tell us about the person and whether those things match up with whatever we deem important at that particular time.

I don't think Mitsuru is a bad match for Kokoro and neither do I think the big guy is bad or even a bad match for Kokoro, barely creepy, but I am saying this as a man and not a woman who has experience harassment by bigger, stronger, and often more aggressive members of the opposite sex in a patriarchal cul-...you get what I'm saying. The big guy has emotional immaturity the same as Mitsuru, you can't deal with rejection and is probably thinking he did everything "right" so "why?" But that's life death isn't justified with that other wise most MC in shonen anime would be guilty of terrorism or ideologically motivated murder and should be whacked by the first episode..

Do you guys remember that Kokoro made a promise with Futoshi? Now, she is like cheating

apparently we have alot of NTR hentai watchers in these forums and they enjoy what Kokoro is doing right now, whatever floats their boat :)

Fuck off, it's not even NTR when Kokoro and Fat fuck were never dating. It was a broken promise, deal with it.

Okay i don't know about anyone else but i really did hate that kokoro and mitsuru shit at the end. I'm not a fan about it like there seems to be no reason.Granted if it plays into the story i will look the other way. However the way it looks right now i don't approve.

I have a feeling that everyone here dies and only Kokoro would survive...along with her future child with Mitsuru. I think she's gonna be a fine mother in the future.

The problem is that she is a double faced slut, and very horny at least

Aaaand we have another one right here. You don't understand this show, so for your own good I suggest you stop watching it. Kokoro a slut? After the whole development of emotions she has eyes for Mitsuru only. And where was it implied that Futoshi and her were an official couple? Nowhere.

Your comment is embarrassing. Think before posting.

Who do you think you are asshole? If you like People who can lie to your face without even blink, be my guest cucklord. It's not about the fatso, it's about honesty and facing other People with the truth

There is no Psychological or Tragedy tags, however, all I want right now is for fatty to go insane and kill them both. Such a happy ending :D

edit: ps, the above post made me laugh pretty hard

These dudes sound so possessive. I remember how Emilia from Re: Zero was a "bitch" for a month because some kid she just met basically told her she owes him so much. True but completely impossibly to perceive from a character's perspective. No one acknowledged how justified this girl's cluelessness was. And even if she had know, maybe she didn't want his ass. What's so hard to see about that.

omg kokoro tried to make a baby?!? OMG what will happen if she really gets pregnant?!? NO BABY PLZ!

its really an interesting ep with the realisation of reproductive and how to make baby. Nana seems to remember something and is her 'emotions' erased by the Ape and Dr. fran xx? And the blue princess is fascinating too

Hope the next ep will finally be about Ikuno's story, oh my lilies :P

PS. I heard the news that Goro's voice actor is ill or currently in hospital and his voice acting roles aren't done yet. Will he be alright to continue his job? Anyone has an update about him?

They should give zorome and miku more development, miku seems much more interesting than this cheap drama. It's been like 3 eps lost with the cucking and the fatso suffering. Or I don't know, show us more of the World and the nines

Lol I also thought about A Quite Place! Impregnating some girl in horror is not the best move.

This episode was interesting on all fronts. Hiro growing horns, The nines, Kokoro And Misturu relationship development and eventual sex, emotional indoctrination, and the Klaxosaur Queen made this a pretty plot heavy episode. I really want to know more about “Nana’s” past, as her past experiences seems to be something major that can effect squad 13’s future. I’m really excited for what next week brings to the table after this plot dump of an episode.
