Why did they have to show Kamoshida psychically assaulting Shiho? That REALLY makes me want to beat the crap outta him now. They never showed that scene in the game at all. As for pacing, a few bits were rushed a little bit, but they got the main scenes spot on, with Ryuji's awakening and Morgana's appearance. Speaking of which, his face while being petted was really cute. =3 The animation is holding up pretty well thankfully, although the battle scene and all-out attack could've been better. One user mentioned that they could've just copy and pasted the attack from the game instead and they could, but that would look VERY lazy on Cloverwork's part and wouldn't fit in at all. People are expecting too much from the animation, as usual, so the criticism is a little annoying. =/ The OP song is still great, as well and the ED, but the animation for bit only used clips from the first episode, so I would assume that the proper animation for it is not finished yet. If so, then I hope it'll be finished soon. =) All in all, this was a good episode. |

Like i said, good luck trying to import a 85-90hour video game(relying heavily on dialogues too)in 24episodes . Obviously it will feel rushed because it cant be otherwhise. It may be a wise choice for people that dont like the pace so far to drop the anime till its finished and watch it later all on. |

Second Persona get, and Kitty get. Plus two tragic backstories also revealed. We makin good progress, but unfortunately this is an anime, and some things just ain't as good as it was in-game, such as the all out attack and so on. Still, this was good. |

Well the OP song is great but we already heard it before in the trailers. The stock footage used during it is a bit lazy but I have no issues. Some of the scenes are directed nicely and some have fast pacing but I was expecting this. However, the real issue for me is the animation and art, again. Some scenes look fantastic but most of the time it's like there is shading missing. It's like those cheap flash animations years before. I can understand that the art is more simplified once animation is more involved but come on. Sometimes their still stances look so stupid and unnatural. Example is when a character signals with his hand movement for Persona to attack, the movement looks like there are frames missing. It looks jarring and not as smooth. When they started running towards the ''All out Attack' 'I had to facepalm to their movement. |

If they ain't gonna do it right, don't do it at all. That all out attack just felt naff. I feel as if corners have been cut in regards to visual quality, which is surprising considering this is probably one of the only things A-1 is consistent in achieving throughout everything I've watched of theirs prior. Pacing was good as was the music for both OP and ED. Bank on Lyn to give us top notch in this regard. Although I pray that the opening gets the rumored ep4 visual revamp everyone is going on about. Looking forward to Kamoshida getting his comeuppance just so I don't have to hear his VA speak another line. Onwards to ep3! |

Battle scene was a little odd in anime, especially the All Out Attack sequence. It was exciting and cool in the game, but in anime it was a little cringy. XD |

Lots of QUALITY shots this episode, and the All-Out Attack was some real "graphic design is my passion" shit. They really gotta step up with the animation. Other than that, I'm enjoying this, I love seeing new interactions, and Ren's voice change when he's in the Metaverse. Really hope they use "Wake Up, Get Up, Get Out There" (vocals ver.) during the 7th calling card scene, since they didn't use it in the 1st episode. |

What I hate with every Persona anime (except trinity soul): The MC. I know they were silent protagonists in the game, but couldn't they at least add more personality to them? It's awkward to watch :/ |

Hmmm.. i dont know about this anime.. i like the opening song but the visuals are kinda boring. The animation in this episode was extremely limited. as an anime-only, so far this anime feels really "random" weird things are happening and i can't help but ask myself what the f is going. I get the persona thing now. Basically you join this "cognitive world" where hearts take shape and your persona is basically the person's rebellious soul and then u transform and get superpowers. Still a lot of questions open. I'll give this anime atleast 1-2 more episodes, to see if i get hooked eventually. So far this has been way to unorganized and badly explained. |

It's like watching a speed run of P5 with poor visual quality. Persona 4 got a more respectful adaptation than this. Just too much to cover in the amount of episodes they are trying to do it in. The show is going to remain on speed demon pace through the whole thing. Not that it lacked any good qualities. You can see where the potential of adapting the game into anime could pay off. Sadly...that potential is looking to be unrealized. |

Is it just me, or I'm starting to think that Morgana's VA had to be the same as with Pikachu from Pokemon at this point??? P.S. am I starting to think that Ryuji and Anne had to apparently share the same, and at the same time, respective VAs as with Tusk and Angelise from Cross Ange at this point???? |

Still confused. Anyway. It seems when the main guy was caught, he was wearing his school outfit... as Joker? strange. Watched till the bikini girl showed up and that's it for me. Can't handle this anymore. It's nice to see those super powers, summons whatevers, and the main characters look cool and badass... But I guess it's just not my thing. Maybe I'm too picky. Maybe it's the way this story is told. I'm just not interested. Never played the game. After watching this, I probably won't either. The game will probably be confusing too. |

The problem with this anime (and this was also the case with the Persona 4 anime) is that they just play it so... safe and boring. I feel like I'm watching an abridged let's play that you can only tell what's going on if you've already played the game. On top of that, scenes that were really cool and stylish in the game just look... kind of lame here. That all-out attack was so lackluster. That and the pacing seems WAY too quick. I get they're condensing a 100+ hour game into a 24 episode series, but there's no room to breathe here. The Persona 4 anime had much better pacing in its first couple episodes compared to this. If you haven't played the game I'd suggest you do that instead of watching this anime. It's really not doing the source material justice. I'm probably just going to keep watching out of obligation of it being based on a game I love. |

The anime has great art and a nice OST...and that's pretty much it I'm a sucker for urban settings but everything else about it is just pretty meh overall so far . Some cool ideas here and there with lucklustre execution Don't get me started on how trash the action sequences are Really disappointing Must be for fans of the game only I guess? Fights are a bit lacking, though. Persona 3 animation managed to make the fighting system from the game work flawlessly on screen, but this anime struggles with it. Sound direction is pretty awful. They take those long immersive tunes and cut them in a way which throws me off completely out of the experience. Also why is Kamoshida beating up the female students? Wasn't he known for beating up male students but sexually harassing the females? It wasn't mentioned in a clear way inside the game (probably, to avoid censorship), but the developers found a way to send this message without showing it. I honestly see no reason for Kamoshida to beat up females as he sees them as sexual prey, while males are his opponents, thus he can physically abuse his "rivals'. He wasn't having sex with female students (except Ann as she is his Queen), but he was harassing them. It really pisses me off that they turned sex into violence. Sexual abuse is a major part of Kamoshida's castle. He is a creep, but the only creepy part of him in the anime is his outfit. I'll probably give it one or two episodes and drop the anime. I have a feeling that the story and character relationships will fall apart after Kamoshida. There's no way they can fit everything into 24 episodes. The majority of the viewers dislike rape/sexual violence in animes, so I guess they are making things less "offensive" to their big audience. A coward but smart decision. |

I'm gleaning this adaptation is loyal to the source material almost to the last frame. I'll say that this adaptation in and of itself is an okay watch, but my enjoyment stems more from the anime convincing me to play through the game again. the pacing though is lightning quick and barely leaves you any breathing room. Which, makes sense i guess considering they're trying to crunch a 100 hour game into 25 ~20-minute long episodes covering the palaces, character interactions, special trips, and I'm assuming social links. As someone who's played the game I have a good idea of what is going on, but if I were a viewer who didn't play through the game I'd be so lost. So far, its okay |

Wow, they upped brutality in Kamoshida’s character here. That scene with him pelting Ren with volleyballs and the Shiho scene were more sinister than expected, and they weren’t shown or mentioned in the game. The visuals are a stinkin mess here, not gonna lie... I know a-1’s got a dodgy track record but from time to time they do decent animation work at least, even if they butcher adaptations... y u no direct the anime, production IG? |

I want to like the show, but so far it's terrible. Yes, I played the game, but I don't care if the pace is really fast or some details are left out, what I really care about is how the quality is so BAD. Here's an example: The whole battle scen where ryuji awakens his persona. Fight choreography is NON EXISTENT, hits don't even feel like hits, it's more like flailing around and adding sound effects over it, and don't even get me started on the all-out-attack lifted straight from the game but somehow really worse. ED was a STILL IMAGE with limbs and hair being animated to look like they were walking, and they still felt like rock people, just look at my man Yusuke... this really says a lot about the direction of the show and how they handled it's budget. Scenes where there's not much movement and/or character close-ups look really good but by that logic you might aswell play the game or read the manga. The only really good thing that has come out of this so far is the Volleyball scene where we see Kamoshida hit the MC (who I won't call by his new "canon" name for now) and some characterization given to some characters like Ryuji. It's interesting to see that the rest of the characters feel a little different to their original game versions, like Sojiro and Sae being "nicer" to the protagonist and a few other moments. So far I have no complaints on how they handled the Main Protagonist's personality, his actions and dialogue feel like something that his game counterpart would say. One of the biggest selling points of the game is the whole aesthetic and style of it, and this adaptation so far has little to none of that. That's sad. |

I was enjoying the episode until the fight scene with Personas. The Personas look really bad, and that all out attack still-frame of Ren looks so off that I couldn't help but laugh. It was a good episode. Was a lot of fun, and probably more fun playing the game. Can anyone tell me how the game plays though? Is it like free roam in a closed off area while interacting with different things? For example would I be able to walk around the school and talk with different students? Or explore the Palace? |

For example would I be able to walk around the school and talk with different students? Or explore the Palace? The reason why this anime probably feels rushed to a lot of the P5 players is because you do a lot of interacting with other students, building bonds with confidents and other activities within the world as well as explore the palaces. The palaces in the game are large dungeons that take hours to beat but the anime has to cut out all of that to hit plot points with the limited time it gets. For me as a player of the game, the feel of the anime is so different from the game because the flow of time ((and how you manage time)) is an important attribute of the game's "mood" and affects plot/sideplots. I'm not sure how the anime could ever effectively capture this with 24 episodes, though :'V |
