Any weeabs out here who likes listening to Midwest Emo and Emo Revival? I rarely see people who are familiar with them, given that most people think of MCR, Pierce The Veil, or any overrated punk stuff almost instantly when they hear the word "Emo". I'm talking about the legit emo music genre, not the scene culture. These bands, for example: American Football Mineral Texas Is The Reason Boys Life Cap'n Jazz Rainer Maria The Gloria Record The Promise Ring empire! empire! (i was a lonely estate) Snowing Algernon Cadwallader Oso Oso The Brave Little Abacus Title Fight Into It. Over It. Pianos Become The Teeth Foxing Joyce Manor Braid Sunny Day Real Estate The Get Up Kids Jets To Brazil The Saddest Landscape Joan Of Arc Rites Of Spring ... to name a few (?). It would be nice to know more people who listen to these gems. |

Sure, i've listened to about a third of those bands, Cap'n Jazz and Pianos become the Teeth being my favorite there. My favorite group in that scene is TWIABPAIANLATD, though. Since you got Pianos become the Teeth on there, i'd also include some screamo groups like Orchid, Saetia, More Than Life and Hot Cross. Big fan of MCR and Pierce the Veil as well, as a side note. Nothing wrong with those groups, they've both put out some solid music. |

They're so good, they really revive the emo out there. Cap'n Jazz is going to return, have you heard? http://www.chicagomag.com/arts-culture/July-2017/Tim-Kinsella/ Among the ones you mentioned, I only know Orchid. I'll definitely check the other two out! Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against MCR and PTV (I grew with them). Just making sure to differentiate the emo I'm talking about. :> |

Glad to see some love for emo still out there, I felt like the odd one out on here. I listen to all of the ones you listed with the exception of like 3 or 4. Kind of wish I lived up north because I'd kill to see Oso Oso live. Do any of you lads listen to The Hotelier? Home, Like Noplace Is There is one of only two albums I'd give a 9/10 or higher too. As for ones you didn't mention, I'll throw in a few more recent bands on the come-up that are worth noting. Turnover Father Mountain Grandview Everyone Everywhere Basement I also think Modern Baseball has potential to be really good if they can make more tracks that are on par with Hiding. |

I've only listened to a couple Hotelier songs, though i've heard nothing but good things about them so i really should check them out. A couple of other good bands i forgot to put before would be Tiny Moving Parts and Brave Bird, both great bands in the emo/indie genre. Tiny Moving Parts also have a lot of Math Rock influence in their stuff. |

The vocals are silly and their lyrics are a tad juvenile, but it's comfy sad music. I could never really get into Tiny Moving Parts though. Any standout tracks I should give a try? |

Did you ever hear Brave bird's last album T-Minus Grand Gesture? It's also pretty good. As for Tiny Moving Parts, I would say the songs Always Focused and Clouds Above my Head are a couple god ones, if you like those you'd probably enjoy their general sound. |

Basement Everyone Everywhere Free Throw Hightide Hotel Panucci's Pizza Touché Amoré Turnover And of course American Football, their self-title album is gold. edit: I knew I was forgetting another good one; Balance and Composure. Yo, Hightide Hotel is secretly amazing. I'm halfway through Naturally right now and it's the cat's pajamas. A shame they stopped making music though. qdgyu said: Did you ever hear Brave bird's last album T-Minus Grand Gesture? It's also pretty good. Yeah, I can confirm that the new Brand New album is great. Also, Cut the Cord by Canadian Softball was pretty good. It's pretty cool that Hotel Books can make fun of himself like that. |

I love the stuff on occasion but have trouble finding bands that I can really get into. I'm only really know about bands like American Football The Saddest Landscape Pianos Become The Teeth Touché Amoré One of my favs not named yet is Circle Takes The Square. Does nothing.nowhere count with his odd fusion sound ? It strangely works I randomly found a band I really like just now and it wasn't listed here. I'm not sure it would fit here or if I should put it in the back metal thread siince it's this crazy mix of Screamo and Black Metal and Post-Rock but We Came Out Like Tigers is pretty good. |

It's not quite the same, but I would suggest checking out The Elijah. They mix Post-Rock and ambient with Post-hardcore and Emo. For a good idea on their sound look into I Created, Admit Defeat, and I Hated, you may like them. Sadly they are also broken up :( |

I familiar with some of the bands mentioned here (Cap'n Jazz, empire! empire!, Into It. Over It., Foxing). I'll have a lot of stuff to listen to at work this week. :) American Football is one of my favorite albums. Marietta: I'm Glad it's You Perspective, a Lovely Hand to Hold I'm not sure to what extent the bands are emo, but I think they have the same feeling and I have their songs in playlists with some of the bands mentioned here. I also really like The Front Bottoms and Modern Baseball. |

@Eeyore That Marietta album is pretty comfy. It's something I revisit every few weeks and that's one of the better songs on it, so good choice. I bought that I'm Glad It's You EP a long time ago and no joke, Curbside is the only song I really like off of it. Wish they had more like it. Perspective's new to me, but they seem like they have potential. I like the ska-ish pop punk sound they have going. |

I've heard a lot more of screamo than I have of midwest emo but I do love a lot of it, all the twinkling is just so mesmerizing. : ) Stuff like Midwest Pen Pals Our Sunday Affairs William Bonney and Texas is the Reason are all up my alley, I think they cover a pretty good range |
