Hey MAL Community!

This probably already exists but here we go, I'm looking for an ANIME where the main character undergoes a change in his personality and looks. A good example is Parasyte for those who have seen it, I loved watching the change Shinichi went through and how he grew. Doesn't necessary have to be action but would prefer it.

Not looking for an anime where the MC starts off OP, but gradually gets stronger, and not looking for battle shounen either.

Thanks :)

Not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for, but in Skip Beat the main character goes through quite a bit of change. Though it's not action and it is a shoujo, you might like it because it has some nice character development.

Haven't seen it, but everything I've heard about Tokyo Ghoul seems to match up.

Kemono no Souja Erin is a long but well done coming-of-age story.

To me Akatsuki no Yona has a lot of great character growth--though I'm thinking particularly of the manga. You could argue that the character growth in the anime is anywhere from "satisfactory" to "pretty darn good."

Gurren Lagann is probably a good answer for this request, but it looks like you've already seen it...

It's difficult for me to think of characters whose physical changes mirror their emotional/psychological changes. If you're a little more lenient on that, I might suggest Tsuritama.

As long as you're fine with female mc's, romcoms, shoujou-ai (which is why I passed 1st time around but if you insist ;) Also, no physical changes to the characters.

The Twelve Kingdoms -- Female mc. First 5 or 6 episodes are annoying but hang in there.
Maria-sama ga Miteru -- Female mc's, shoujo-ai. Yumi by season 4 is much more confident and assertive. Other characters also get plenty of development.

Aoi Hana -- Female mc, shoujo-ai.
Nodame Cantabile -- By end of season 3 both mc's have improved their attitude towards music and in personality.

The Twelve Kingdoms was amazing, thank you!

Bumping this again cause I'd like some more, recently finished Arslan Senki too.

If you can reccomend me an anime where the MC has a 'I dont care' phase, like the MC in Guilty Crown has.. Bonus points to you.

^^

The Legend of Condor Hero(both main character grow, and change)

Kemono no souja erin Erin definitely grows, but she more "over comes" issues, opposed to changing.

The Twelve Kingdoms(no one really grows, but there is a lot of changing one's outlook in this anime)
