| The rating system of almost every community is always screwed up, not only on MAL. No matter what, there will be haters, and hype will definitely play a big factor in the final rating, just look at OPM. Yes, it was good and something different for us to all see but from what the anime adapted, it was not even the "Real Good" part of OPM that OPM is known for. A score of 8.85 as of now is just the hype influence... I'm not trying to say that this movie does not deserve this rating though, personally I enjoyed the hell outta this movie and although I'm still trying to figure out the logic in the story line up till now, this series is definitely up there in terms of my enjoyment value, which is of utmost importance when rating a series in my opinion, so I would definitely wish as high of a score as possible. But as I go back to my previous point, the hype factor definitely has a big part to play in this movie. Yes it did live up to the hype in my opinion, and probably to most of the viewers so far as well, which is a big plus to the movie in general, and is also probably the reason for this high score. Without the hype following the release of this movie, the score might've been lower. Be prepared though, the score is definitely going to go down in a few days/weeks time after peaking at the 9.40+ mark (a rough estimation), as there will be increasing number haters with too much free time to go out and create multiple accounts to give the movie a score of 1. And yes, this is the highest I've seen so far on MAL too, from when I joined which was not too long ago last year so don't rely on me to give a definite answer for that (Submits comment and go back to hoping that the score would continue to rise and checking it every few hours xD) |

| @LightBladeNova I agree with you,"5CMPS" should've been in 9 brackets only if the last couple of minutes turned out differently :P Same for "kimi no na wa" despite all the unexplained time traveling stuff and unrealistic last minute transition,if it ended in old shinkai style then half of 10s would've converted into 5 or less. |
