I get a similar feeling but a lesser one after watching a film or ending a TV series, as well as finishing a book.

Recent animes I watched where I got this:
-Code Geass
-Kill la Kill
-Mirai Nikki
-Fate/Zero
And the manwha Witch Hunt, and the manga Heads

The thing they all have in common is a bittersweet ending... Could that be it? Sad endings?

You've grown attached to the characters. I feel like that sometimes, depending on how much I've invested into the anime

Weird, since I don't feel this when characters die during the thing, only once I've finished it... Must be that though.

Maybe you like the show so much, you gonna miss them? (bcoz it's already over for you)
Or you find the ending pretty unsatisfying, you wish for a better ending.

You know, I didn't think about this. I remember feeling mad as hell when I finished Shiki because of how it ended.

@AtomikBlast Sometimes I'm just sad I won't get to see what's going on with characters anymore or see if they achieve a goal or overcome whatever stigma/obstacle they were dealing with. Weird, huh?

It actually is because of events in your life rather than growing attached to certain characters. If you become more productive and active in real life. Talk/go out more with people, it could help.

The sense of attachment you get from those series are not exactly what a regular person would do. It's a temporary solution to fill in a gap in time and after it's done, you become aware of time and your surrounding.

It's the same with other addictions or habits.

Cheer up.

You realize your primary entertainment/activity at the current time has come to an end and you suddenly have nothing to do.It's just a state of confusion.

But I mean I'd be sad too if I sat through Mirai Nikki and Code Geass until the last ep.Just think of all the wasted time for gornisht.

Every anime is sad,
In the end the cute girls in anime dont exist and you can never get them , then whats the point?

Thats why all anime or manga are sad...

Oh please, next time you try sarcasm, make it good at least. Your sarcasm hurts badly.
If you aren't happy with people's advice/explanation then don't ask for one.

I'm asking if anyone else has felt this, not for a dubious psychology check-up.

I'm truly tired of these threads. You ask others why you are functioning as a human. That is literally what the question entitles, considering it is a human quality to feel sad once something is over or gone from your life. Instead of excluding such things from your life, you can join a group full of fans of that fandom and everyone can share their love for the manga/anime it so it will always be in your heart. Or find something else to watch and stop getting that emotionally attached to specific anime.

Maybe you are just sad in general, and the feeling of completion makes you feel sad.

I know when I am in a not so happy phase of my life, staying on task, whether it be doing work, reading, or watching a series, is something that always keeps me distracted and happy. Usually finishing what I'm doing will leave me feeling empty like I'm not working towards a goal.

BUT also, maybe the anime is just so good and you get attached, and that is okay! Happens to me all the time as well, and I am currently going through something like this.

i felt sad after reading Claymore and watching Shirobako, both of them have a good ending, but what makes me sad is that it’s over, god knows how invested i am to those masterpeice, every flip of pages and every second of the episode is a bless.

i guess you’re sad because your happinnes when watching those anime is gone when it’s finished. and you have to start from zero again, finding another anime which can make you feel that way again

prolly means the animes/manga your read/watch left a lasting impression on you especially after watching the characters grow throughout their series, you feel a sense of "I know them" and that you're there with them

It's kinda weird but dope at the same time lol

Because you were so invested in them emotionally and time wise, once they finished you lost you will to live.

... Nerd :P
