No offense, but how hard is it to just look at the entries and see which one is a sequel and which one came first? I mean JoJo even has the parts labeled, starting with the first part then the second part then the third and so on. I swear we would save ourselves 200 threads a year if people just took a look at the sequel/prequel relations of franchises.

So basically you ignore all the OVAs and watch the TV Series in chronological and release order.
I probably regret this post by now.

1. Part 1 & 2

2. Part 3

3. Part 3b (Part 3 is pretty long, so lng they needed 2 full series)

4. Part 4

I suggest just watching the DavPro versions (the ones I mention) first as they are miles better IMO than the older versions.

Start with the 2012 series, then watch the 2014 Stardust Crusaders series, move onto to Diamond is Unbreakable (or read the manga), then read whatever isn't animated. Even if you don't read manga, I suggest reading the manga because Part 7 (Steel Ball Run) is a masterpiece.

In the 2012 version it lists 2 different sequels. While one can just look at the years, it's obvious that it can be confusing to some, so you should at least know where they're coming from before criticism

Jojo ( 2012 )
Stardust Crusaders S1
Stardust Crusaders S2
Diamond is Unbreakable

Then read the Color manga all the way up Steel Ball Run. Or wait for Vento Aureo anime to come out next year or the year after that.

Looking at the years is a pretty easy thing to do lol, ones a 7 episode OVA too.

But whatever, small mistake, no biggie.

I know exactly where they're coming from, I've been using this site for 6 years and never found it hard to figure out watching orders on my own with the sole exception of Gundam with all it's AUs and even for that I could easily google a perfect graph. It just requires a bit of effort but all the information is literally in the DB (the year, which part of the manga is adapted by which entry etc...) so the only reason to make other people do the work for you is laziness because all it takes is a few extra clicks which is not something beyond the capabilities of anyone.
So yeah I get the appeal of laziness (that's why I said I mean no offense), I'm lazy myself, but its not really something worth protecting from criticism if you ask me. It's not a birthright.

I just think it's a much healthier attitude to try and put in a bit of effort yourself and be independent instead of relying on others even for the simplest of tasks that literally only require a handful of clicks and a few lines of reading. It really helps people much more in the long-term if they learn to do things by themselves so I'm not sure what your problem is. It's not like a withheld the information that was asked for.
Over the years I played google for hundreds of users but that doesn't mean I think that's how things should be. Ideally people would be intelligent and independent enough to google for themselves and I've been fighting for a world where that is the case ever since I can remember :>.

I really do find it saddening that I have to get criticized for promoting that people think and act for themselves instead of immediately relying on others for stuff they could even google themselves. That used to be something that people aspired to do and were proud of. If Kant would see this he'd roll over in his grave.
I probably regret this post by now.

Well, they're obviously still really new to anime and MyAnimeList. Maybe they just haven't figured out how everything works, need to get used to where all the information is at first, etc. And you never know, maybe they're aware the answer can be found by googling it, but hope to get the right information and find some people to talk about the show with at the same time.

While I do somewhat share your sentiment, I think you overreacted just a little bit.

If you want to get into Jojo, just watch the newer anime shows. The OVA's are good for their time. I would only watch them if you are wondering how they animated Part 3 back in the 90's and early 2000's. For me, I did enjoy the darker tone that the OVA's had over the one in the newer anime version of Part 3.

Small unrelated advice, but take your time while watching Part 3 (Stardust Crusaders), that part is extremelly episodic and follows a very formulaic "Villain-of-the-week" formula, and it's not really best digested in a binge-watch.

How did I overreact? Just by pointing out that he could have found this information on his own? How does not overreacting look then? I mean aside from not mentioning it at all and just silently playing google for others. I'm curious if there is any way I could have brought up the topic without it being an 'overreaction' to you? I hate that word because of how often people use it just based on me writing more words than the person I replied to.

And it's not like I was never new to this site but I still had no troubles figuring out simple things like that early on. I mean it's really not a big deal, is it? Everything is spelled out and linked. Why am I the weird one for thinking anybody should be able to figure it out on their own? Am I really that much of an extraordinary talent for being able to do so without it feeling like one of the biggest obstacles of my life? I doubt it. I just prefer doing things myself if possible while most people seem t not to do so.

But whatever. I give up.
I thought I was doing people a favor and that being able to think for themselves would benefit them, but apparently it's overreacting and offensive to do so even as a sidenote while delivering the information that was asked for. My apologies. I don't want to be the bad guy telling people they can do things themselves in a world where that is seen as a foreign concept that even seems to trigger people who I wasn't even talking to. Seriously, if OP has replied to me it would have been a different story and I would have reacted differently but I never expected for two random people to come into the thread and see my post as offensive enough to warrant starting an argument about how I'm an ass who's overreacting. That's the really shocking part to me. Turns out what I thought of as common sense is far from it. I'm still overestimating our planet it seems.

In any case this will have been the last time I ever endeavored to say anything along those lines. Rest assured AD. I'll just leave these threads to the people who enjoy playing google for others and don't see anything weird about that mentality.

Have a good day.
I probably regret this post by now.

What a silly question. Obviously at Part 1, then move on to 2, then 3, and then 4. After that move to 5 whenever that comes out.
