| I think people mainly dislike them in harem, where girls show them affection but they act castrated. The problem isn't so much their density, but their lack of personality. If 'density' is your only defining trait, you don't have much of a personality left. |

| They are not bad per se, but often it's frustrating having the girls expressing their feelings for the MC and him ignoring them or misunderstanding the situation. Anyway, while it can be annoying, now I understand that the denseness of a MC is vital to extend a show, and it's necessary for the most harem series. |

| Well I guess they're a "must have" in a Harem anime, in order to keep the harem together, Just like our fellow Orimura Ichuka from Infinite Stratos. Though there are some main characters that can read the god damn mood, but they're hard to find. |

| If they remain dense for the entirety of the series, then yes. If no, then no. I mean if a character starts out dense, learns from his mistakes, grows more mature but takes some time. Then I have no problem with those characters, These kinds of characters are actually really fun to watch. But eh.... That rarely happens. |

Yes, but guys are still central to the harem anime. Without them there's no harem, but when they're dull it renders the whole story silly. |
