The next thing I know people are gonna complain because next episode "didn't happen like the WN" where Subaru is being tortured and should watch the villagers being killed. Let's see.... I'm pretty sure there is no "Emi-" dialogue at all in both the LN and WN. In the LN, Subaru was still thinking of wanting to see Roswaal, Ram, Rem, Betty and as usual, Emilia on chapter 3 part 1-4. Then part 5 hits him in the face with the villagers deaths with him remembering what the kids said like "Yay, Subaru is here" "Subaru is finally here!" "Ehehe, because I owed my life to Subaru, I will return the favor when I grow up" Holy damn... the LN is way darker because the WN (chapter 32) didn't include these dialogues. Rem dies in part 6, in part 5 Subaru is still disbelieving of the deaths of the villagers and in both part, he didn't think for Emilia once. I even checked with the ctrl + F to make sure of it. You can even look up the WN here (chapter 32): http://ncode.syosetu.com/n2267be/109/ and then ctrl + F: エミ (Emi) and see that the second half of the chapter don't have any "Emi" words on it because Subaru is too busy thinking about the villagers, then Rem. |

What I meant is that he thought of Emilia at first but he couldn't bear the thought of something happening to her so he thought of Rem as some kind of "scapegoat" because he thought he would be able to handle her possible death better. When he then finds her death and his fear realized he breaks down. The verbal outcall for Emilia at first is anime original but expresses his thought process well. |

It looks as if Subaru walked right past her without even acknowledging she was there. Kind of like with all the villagers in the houses, he was still under his escapism. And it wasn't until after he saw the blood on his hands, and snapped back to reality, that we saw Petra's full body. I'm sure he was thinking about all the villagers during the flashes to the ones he saw before thinking of Rem. Thats just my interpretation of the scene though, and I could be very wrong. |

| In the LN, the children weren't even in the village this cycle, but near the spot where Rem died just outside the mansion. I liked it better that Rem took the children with her and died protecting them, even if she did end up failing at that. It's a minor detail, but one that made me like Rem's character even more while reading the LN. |

| It's over. This episode...was dark as hell...it had everything in that was supposed to be in there as far as I could see. It got brutal like Rem got her neck, arms and legs twisted until you could hear the bone crushing. And the credits role is depressive as hell. Subaru's head falls off and as the credits roll by his body which still carries dead Rem as well as his head slowly freeze and turn into a ice statue covered with snow. People will now support Subaru with all they have after they saw Betelgeuse. He is majorly creepy and just as crazy as in the books. I need fresh air guys. |
