G-GilThunder said: What are your favorite mystery anime? ;) Let´s just say i would agree with MAL every time they tag something as Mystery lol i think they are giving away genre tags waaaay to losely since an anime has to even slightly touch the genre to get the tag. They should separate in main tags and side tags, but that´s another story and just my opinion. Based on what MAL tags as Mystery, here is my Top 6 which i would recommend to all mystery fans (with spoiler free mimi-summaries) ^^ 6th Place: ANOTHER Another is a Horror/Mystery by my favorite studio P.A. Works. It has a great main girl (Mei) and the whole atmosphere of the show makes up for the not so interesting other characters. It´s done really well, looks awesome and it´s unpredictable who "the extra person" is they are searching for ;) 5th Place: MAWARU PENGUINDRUM A complicated journey of two brothers trying to save their sister and much more. It is not easy t explain, it´s a bit out there and it requires your full attention at all times without being too complex. One of the smartest anime i ever saw with all its metaphors and flshbacks. A unique watching experience! 4th Place: JIGOKU SHOUJO Mainly a episodic horror show consisting of three seasons. While it is episodic, an overarching plot is always told too and the climax of all these seasons is unbelievable. Some of the best endings i ever saw and also some of the greatest teams of main characters i know. An exceptional series blurring the line between what´s good and what´s evil...at least for 2 seasons, the 3rd one is not that great and it´s ok to skip it since you are not required to watch everything to get to the "final ending" of it all. 3rd Place: THE MELANCHOLY OF HARUHI SUZUMIYA (1st season) A rare mixture of Mystery and Comedy. Haruhi is one of the most amazing characters in the history of anime, Kyons narrating is brilliant and the first 5 episodes as well as some comedy afterwards are among the funniest moments of anime i ever saw. I love the crazyness of it so much. 2nd Place: SHINSEKAI YORI A simply fantastic anime in every way that touches so many emotions while telling an amazing story in three parts. It´s also a smart shoutout to tolerance and humanity, uses my favorite classical piece ever as theme music (From the New World) and features Squealer, the winner of my Best Supporting Character survey. Absolutely a must watch for fans of mystery and drama. 1st Place: MONOGATARI SERIES What can i say...as an overall watching experience, nothing i can recall was so much fun. None of the seasons is quite as good as Shinsekai Yori in my opinion, but as an overall experience it was just absolutely awesome. 6 seasons and all of them are rated at least an 8, it just has to in first place as a franchise! It perfects the art of fanservice and uses dialogues almost only to tell all it has to say...and it is simply a masterpiece! Special mentions to Hyouka which is brilliant but not "mysterious" enough, Serial Experiments Lain for being the biggest mind challenge i ever came across, and Boku Dake ga Inai Machi for being the best of this year so far and also giving me an earworm as i love that opening song a lot lol |

| What is your opinion on democracy? Is it really the best form of government that people could come up with, considering its inherent flaws? Would a monarchy in which the king/queen have the people's interests in mind be better than a corrupt democratic state? |

Would a monarchy in which the king/queen have the people's interests in mind be better than a corrupt democratic state? I do think it is the best form of government as it is the system that at least seems to be the hardest one to corrupt or betray in such a way that many people have to suffer. It is usually NOT democratic countries where people suffer the most because of their government. Of course there are exceptions. The way you put your question tells a lot doesn´t it? ;) Of course it is better to live in a monarchy where the king or queen cares for his people then in a democracy that´s corrupt. But we should treat all forms of government equally to see what´s better. I prefer a corrupt democracy over a corrupt king and a democracy where the politicians care about the people over a monarchy where the king cares about the people. Why? Because two main reasons: 1, In a Democracy, at least the people can vote and replace their government as soon as they get unhappy with it. It happens all over the world and my country is going through a political revolution itself currently actually. A (working and honest) democracy guarantees that those in charge have at least been elected by the majority of the population. If my king or queen starts to run out of ideas to runs the country and doesn´t do his work as good as he used to, i cannot replace hi even if 100% of the people are against him. 2, A king can do whatever he wants as he rules alone. In a democracy, you usually have many parties and they have to form coalitions and work together. This way, no fraction can do whatever it wants unless it reaches 50% of the vote which never happens anywhere in Europe. Coalition partners are always good to control one another, having to find compromises that will hopefully satisfy all people ,at least those who have voted for one of the parties in charge. What happens if they fail? See number 1 lol Number 2 is also the reason why i don´t really like it when countries have a 2 party system. One of them will win 50% on their own automatically and so they can do whatever they want again on their own. What you end up with is basically a dictatorship with the right to vote for your dictators lol If a single person or group would rule my country, i´d prefer it to be a communist state rather then a monarchy to be honest but only if it is done honestly and with following the grassroots ideological ideas behind it like valuing everyone equally. It hardly ever works asa we can see in this world. Most communist countries are not good places to live in. We are all humans with terrible weaknesses. If a person is given too much power, he won´t stay the humble person he might used to be, it is just a matter of time. If your government is corrupt to the core, there´s little you can do about it really no matter what form of government you have, but i do believe that democracy is the best form of government when it´s done the way it should be done. |

The main reason why I asked this and why I'm a bit unsatisfied with Democracy is because I personally dislike how it gives too many people the right to vote. I feel that a large fraction of voters are ignorant to anything dealing with social, political, and economic policies and tend to vote based on emotions rather than actual facts and logic. (You can just take a look at all of Trump's supporters for that) Do you think that voters should be required to have some basic knowledge of economics and politics? |

(You can just take a look at all of Trump's supporters for that) Do you think that voters should be required to have some basic knowledge of economics and politics? you are right about this and you can see it not only with Trump in the US but also with right-wing parties winning elections all over Europe. They gather all those people who are dissatisfied because this is bad, that is bad...refugees are bad, i lost my job and i gotta blame the government for it because it can´t possibly be my fault... I´d prefer them to have basic knowledge on the important issues. However, most people (at least here) actually do know it and i´m sure it´s the same in the U.S. as various news channels and newspapers do everything to tell as many people as possible which candidate or which party stands for what. This is where unfortunetly the power of the media comes into play as writers and other media people are humans too...humans with their own interests and opinions, so a lot of the media is biased.... however i ran off the track here a little. I´d rather have too many people vote then only a few or nobody. After all you need a result that´s kinda representing the mood the country is in and you won´t get this if only half of the population is allowed to vote. The majority of voters knows what they are doing, i trust in this. I´m an ocean away from the US but of course i do follow the elections there too. I honestly don´t think that the majority of Trump voters are voting on emotions only. I think this is true mostly for those who decided on Trump lately because they were fed up with their own party trying to do everything to avoid his victory. Other than that, i can totally see why a conservative who wants his country to be the world leader again would vote for Trump. He is a business man living the american dream so to speak. He built up a huge imperium and these people trust in him to achieve the same thing for America, as stupid and unreasonable that is. Fortunetly, the Republicans are shooting themselves in the foot. If Trump wins the primary, this will be the most one-sided election in a long time. No so called swing voter will pick a person like Trump over Hillary Clinton. Not that Hillary is likeable, but at least she is a POLITICIAN and does not insult entire people or countries lol Why would a undecided voter vote for a person who is not even a politician??? I can even see some die hard republicans rather stay at home then voting Trump. The party itself knows this very well and tries everything to achieve a open convention. That´s the only reason why Kasich is still in the race and i bet my life the democrats are praying they will face Trump even though they will never say it out loud. |

| What is your opinion on all this recent talk about spying on citizens and personal privacy? Are governments going too far when it comes to spying on citizens, or is it a necessary evil for the sake of public safety? Is privacy an inviolable right, even if it could lead to risks? |

The thing with spying is, if it is done well you won´t even notice, so people should not really care if they are spied on or not as long as they don´t find out lol I could be spied on right now, but since i don´t know, i don´t care. Generally i am not in favor of spying on random people, there should at least be suspicions against a person before you spy on him. The government has enough information about us normal citizens these days to judge who might be a potential threat or not. It´s a huge waste of money too to spy on random people. Privacy is a right by law so you better have a good reason to break it. |

| 5,000+ post speech! So here it is…Monia Café has its first Hot Seat Thread reaching the 5000 post milestone and for some reason, it happens to be mine. I could or maybe even should not care about this, but to be honest, I really, REALLY do care! I care because Monia Café over the past year has become exactly the place I was searching for for quite a bit of time. I don´t know anybody who shares my passion for Anime in real life and I felt the desire to talk about this passion from time to time. When I found MAL itself, it was nothing but disappointing for the first few weeks as the open forums are not really a nice place where I felt comfortable. I was about to leave MAL quickly but then Monia invited me to this Café and this is where I finally found the platform I was looking for. It was full of nice people treating each other with respect and people who cared and where curious about each other. I felt very welcome and quickly started my own Hot Seat. Of course I saw all the old Hot Seats of past members or members who lost interest in them and I saw the few Hot Seats who reached even 1,000 posts, so even this number seemed like an achievement to me back then and I still think it is one. As it always is with online forums, people come and people go and a little over a year is enough time to experience this for yourself. Still, whoever came and whoever left, you guys never stopped answering my questions and asking questions to me here in this thread in return. There are questions about Anime, but also about my personal life, my life as a sports freak, as a darts player, questions about my work, my tastes in music, my girlfriend…everything is right in here and so just like that, this stupid little Hot Seat Thread has turned into one of my hobbies as by now I feel like if anybody read this whole thing, he would now basically everything about me. This has turned into a Biography lol I´ve always tried my best to answer all of your questions as good and as detailed as I possibly could and I feel happy that it made you people come back to this thread regularly. So I thank all of you for answering and asking questions, discussing anime with me, doing my surveys and simply make me feel comfortable whenever I log on to pay Monia Café a visit. I especially want to thank those who have been there right from the start of this amazing journey to turning this Thread, this hobby of mine, to the largest Hot Seat Thread of them all. I am truly grateful to every single one of you! |

PhKay said: I need to explain how my personal rating system works to answer this... First i give away between 0 and 6 points for personal enjoyment only. Then i add 1 point for each of the following categories if i thought they were above average: Story+Execution Characters+Development Animation/Artstyle Uniqueness/Creativity Overall Sound (Music, Dub, Sound Effects) I also deduct a point when one of these were executed really poorly. On the other hand, i give +2 if a show does it better then any other show i ever saw before. ------------- So with this system, it is technically possible to get more than 10 points. However, no show has ever achieved this and all my (seven) 10s have reached exactly 10. To get a 10 on my system, it is important that i can find no major flaws for myself. When i watch something i think is extremely good and could make a 10, i become an even stricter rater and look for reasons why i should NOT give this or that point. So while an anime does not need to be perfect (no anime ever will be), it just has to do a good job on all of these categories i named. Apart from satisfying my personal taste and obviously a great story, i think it requires exceptional art as i am very picky with this category as i mentioned before. I probably am a bit stricter with giving away the art point then with the other categories. I can tell you exactly how my 10s got to 10 if you are interested. Well, you've made me curious so I'll take you up on that offer. How did your 10s got to 10? Also, congratulations on your 5000 HST posts. Quite an achievement ;) |

| Congratulations on 5000 posts~!! I haven't been here in this cafe for very long but it's still really amazing watching a thread grow this quickly. This HST really is amazing ahaha Here's to more and more friendly conversations, random questions, and fun discussions whether it be on anime, sports, or randomness to you ^~^ PhKay said: So the next big thing for me will be 1,000 survey participations i guess. This is kinda cool as i didn´t think this whole survey thing would last for a longer period of time. I thought answering them might take most members here more time then they want to spend so i thought people would get fed up with it after 10 surveys or so, but so far it didn´t happen so i´m really looking forward to 1,000 as this will be the point where i can say yup, i did something for this Café and i did give something back to the members that they enjoy in return for all these questions in here ^^ 50 surveys later this year will be really cool but not quite as cool as the survey that ends on August 21st because August 21st 2015 was the day where i posted my first survey on the first few HSTs. This year this date is a Sunday so when this survey ends, we will have a birthday party haha The 1st anniversary of HST Surveying will be really special as well for me ^^ And that 1000 HST survey participation count is nearing as well as the birthday :O Probably not many people get tired of your surveys because they're fun. Plus you switch them up every week with twists here and there while not altering it enough to destroy an already fun, working formula. The one big issue is still time but I hope lotsof people will participate in the survey that makes the counter reach 1000. I'd like to participate more and more as well c: Any special plans for the HST survey birthday party? |

Well, you've made me curious so I'll take you up on that offer. How did your 10s got to 10? Also, congratulations on your 5000 HST posts. Quite an achievement ;) thank you :-) -- first of all i gotta confess i lied: i can´t tell you how Escaflowne and Princess Mononoke got to 10 as they are from the 90s and i haven´t created my system yet at the time, so they were ranked on personal enjoyment only a long time ago and i didn´t want to re-rate stuff after i came up with my system in 2008 i think... anyway... MONOGATARI 2nd SEASON: 6 enjoyment+ characters, artstyle, uniqueness and obviously story. I didn´t give it sound as i didn´t like most of the OPs and i loved those in other Monogatari seasons. If it had the quality of the Bake and Nise openings it would be my only anime ever to get more than 10. THE MELANCHOLY OF HARUHI SUZUMIYA: 6 enjoyment+story, characters and sound +2. I didn´t give it art/animation because i thought it wasn´t that spectacular for KyoAni standards and for uniqueness, it was pretty creative but i thought of it more as comedy and that part of it was kinda standard humor even though super funny. It got to 10 because it had the best overall sound ever when i first watched it. Boken Desho Desho, Hare Hare Yukai, that God Knows performance in the Live Alive episode + the best english dub i know (Kyons narrating is godly ^^) NAGI NO ASUKARA: 6 enjoyment+characters+sound+2 animation/art The story was enjoyable but not above average. Characters where close to +2 and i was thinking hard about the sound point. In the end i gave the sound and "only" one character point. This got to 10 because it´s the single most amazing looking show of all time for me. It got my PhK Award for Best Animation so that +2 made the show a 10. SAMURAI CHAMPLOO: 6+story+uniqueness+2 sound I watched it AFTER Haruhi the first time and it took over Best Sound ever. (i don´t re-rate as i said so Haruhi was lucky lol). It has so many different songs from Hip Hop Hop all the way to traditional japanese music. I discovered okinawan folk singer Ikue Asazaki through this show and i really love her songs. PLUS i watched it in japanese, english and german and all dubs were really good so i would be surprised if anything ever tops Champloo in the sound category. It´s really unique too with it´s attempts to mix hip hop culture with edo period japan and i liked it. SHINSEKAI YORI 6 enjoyment+story+characters+art+sound Some of the smartest storytelling i ever saw, touching so many emotions along the way as well. The art is amazing, so detailed and fitting and it uses From the New world as theme music which is my favorite classical piece ever so i had to give it sound too lol --- So it´s always the 6/6 enjoyment points obviously and then maybe luck is involved as well when i decide on which extra points i gave and which ones not. The more anime i watched the stricter i got especially with those shows i have the feeling they could make it to 10. |

What did you think of them and who is gonna get to the finals? :) :p hehe I watched Atletico v Bayern and both EL matches in conference. Didn´t have a chance to see ManCity v Real but it seems like i didn´t mis anything anyway lol I was impressed with Atletico doing what they are doing so successfully all the time. I have no idea how often i have seen wins like these from them, putting the pressure on early and finding a goal, then defending incredibly well for the rest of the game and always waiting for a chance on the counter attack. I think they are doing this even better then Chelsea in their prime. This is starting to get frustrating for the opponents and i don´t think Bayern will turn it around. I think Atletico will find a goal from somewhere at Munich too and i can´t see anyone scoring 3 on them so Atletico will move on. ManCity is much better on attack than defense so 0-0 at home is actually okay for them. I guess they will try to take chances at Madrid and force them into a open match with almost no midfield. This is either a 3-2 or 4-2 win for REal or, if things go as City wishes, a 2-2 or 3-3 lol Should be an exciting game, i can´t see City defending themselves into a penalty shootout, REal will for sure score at some point in the game at home. Real is the favorite but City is dangerous. Final pick: Madrid derby yet again! Shakthar had a lot of chances to win that match at home against Sevilla but failed to do so. Now it´s looking good for them to go to the final yet again. The way the match at Villareal went, i think Villareal desperately needed the goal they scored late in the game to give themselves a chance. I can still see Liverpool turning this around. They are in great shape and their full focus is on winning this trophy. Reds will get this done. Final pick: Liverpool v Sevilla |

(I'm so late to ask that xD) oh thank you very much my friend ^^ As for the set i couldn´t decide on one anime only. I wanted to do a Red Data Girl set because i think it´s the least known and most underrated P.A. Work anime there is. Anyway i couldn´t find a nice signature i was happy with from that show and i´m too lazy to costumize my own. So it ended up as kind of a tribute to P.A. Works. The guy in the picture is Miyuki Sagara from Red Data Girl. Great character and kind of fitting for me as well. The signature is a pretty artwork i found from Nagi no Asukara. I think it´s beautiful and interesting with the rail tracks running into the sea. I like it so i use it. For a second i thought about using a guy from NagiAsu too and make it a Nagi no Asukara set, but my desire to pay tribute to Red Data Girl was stronger than the desire to have a one show set lol (i don´t really have one ever again anyway as i won´t replace Shinya on my profile ever :pp) |

It was a little understating which i appreciated and it was a wise decision to solve the biggest problems a little earlier and not right at the end. This was never meant to be one huge story with a dramatic ending, this is not a Drama show so it would have been weird. It was just a depiction of the things that were going on in the district of Ikebukuro and we were given the chance to get an insight of these events for a certain period of time. Not that it´s similar in any shape or form, but it reminded me of the ending of US TV series Gilmore Girls and i liked that as well haha I have a thing for understating endings ^^ |

| my own survey 38 answer: Step 1: Haruhi Suzumiya (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) Suzuka Asahina (Suzuka) Miho Nishizumi (Girls und Panzer) Kakeru Daichi (Ganbare! Kickers) So it´s Haruhi cause the world ends if you don´t recognize her as a brilliant baseball player, Suzuka the main heroine from my favorite Sports Anime, Miho because tankery is obviously a sport and a super awesome one as well and Gregor from the Kickers because pure nostalgiaaaaaaaa…let´s do it! Step 2: I´m gonna take RANDOM of course because this way, at least one person doing this survey takes it hehe The first question on this HST came from Tuturu who has a mean score of 5.58. Man, this was close! Suzuka is out by a margin of 0.08! Say goodbye to high jumping, survey 38. Step 3: C1: They are all amazing but i´m sure Miho and Gregor invested a lot of time and practice into developing their skills while Haruhi just does everything perfectly the first time she tries…the most talented character in the history of anime gets the point ;) C2: lol…all three already are the captains of their “teams”. Haruhis team is just a fun team though existing for only a single game so…NO, not a good captain. You generally never wanna give Haruhi too much power haha Mario is perfect as the Kickers captain too while nobody besides Miho knows a thing about tankery at least at the start so she has to show some leadership in order to improve the rest, she wins the point. C3: Gregor has been highly successful at the club he played before joining the kickers. Miho was great at her previous school too but had to take the blame for their defeat in the final in the previous year while we hear not much about setbacks about Gregors young sporting career, he gets the point. (Haruhi is technically unbeaten but…) C4: obsessed with winning haha…biggest non-competition of all time. Haruhi gets to the final first! C5: It hurts but I have to knock Miho out here. While tankery is the most amazing idea ever as a fictional sport, I will simply not be able to ever experience its awesomeness in real life while i´ve been to I don´t even know how many football matches in many stadiums around the world. Gregor to the final! Step 4: All of them are generally honest, even Haruhi (and even she were not, she would not take PEDs as she knows how great she is, she simply doesn´t need them to destroy everyone else). The most likely to cheat might be Suzuka. She has the highest ambitions and track and field has a very dark history of doping so…yeah. She´s not in the final so the final remains to be… Haruhi v Gregor! Letting Gregor win feels like the right thing to do as he is a true athlete and the nostalgia factor is super huge, but the question was who I enjoined watching more as a whole and this is just clearly Haruhi. So with a bit of regret I crown Haruhi Suzumiya “Best Athlete in Anime!” (What???) |

HAHAHAHAHA ahem sorry... back to the topic: apart from that it´s as funny as everything he puts out there, he broke it down quite well with the two sides of the medal he presented. Umaru is in fact the biggest community splitter of last year and it looks like i belong to the 2nd category of people he mentioned (won´t quote the name of the category as this would get me banned from the Café lol, gigguk sure loves to use bad words a lot) He somewhat-half-enjoyed Umaru himself but also pointed out what this show really is and that it annoys him so he basically has the same opinion about it as me. as i also somewhat liked the show, just not the character and the message it can bring across. I´d keep this away from young girls to watch at all costs, especially if they have big brothers haha Despite being a fan of gigguk, we hardly ever agree as he has a very different taste in anime then i do so i´m happy every time we do agree like on Nagi no Asukara. Hearing him praise it as one of the Top 3 shows of the year in one of the older PodTakus was one of the happiest moment of my life as an anime fan. Puchkov said: Do you think you will ever watch an Anime older than Haru no Uta? Probably if i can find them anywhere on the net. The history of animation in japan starts in the mid-1910s as far as i know, while Haru no Uta is from 1931, so there is still a bit of room. I´m also fairly sure that all of these early works are very very short so i would definitely check them out since no time is wasted at all. I am interested in the history of animation so once i feel like fully exploring it when i sit around at home, i will try my best to find quite a few very old pieces of art. It is kind of fascinating to think they were able to turn drawings into motion on a screen long before the digital age as we know it started. So the chances are really high i will watch something older than 1931. It is just a matter of time. |

Speed to outrun your opponent? Strength to overpower your opponent? Or Stamina to outlast your opponent? yay pre-survey question ^^ This one is a bit vague though as my choice depends highly on which sport or which competition we compete in. Generally i will always pick stamina as the most important thing i would like to have as a sportsman. It is the most satisfying way to win if you have to invest so much into it. Of course, since i´m a darts player, non of the first two traits applies to me or my sport. You don´t need to be strong or fast at all so i was always going for stamina. Playing and getting far in a darts tournament means spending the whole day from 9 in the morning until 8 in the evening at the venue, playing many matches for 7-8 hours. Your focus will wear down a lot and even your arm gets tired at some point, so stamina is extremely important for being able to keep up your level of play for the whole tournament. |

| Yo dude, as always i'll post my survey answer here in your HST :P *) Step 1 : - Genzo Wakabayashi (Captain Tsubasa) - Tooru Oikawa (Haikyuu!) - Daiki Aomine (Kuroko no Basket) - Keigo Atobe (Prince of Tennis) *) Step 2 Well, while he used to play and love the sport more, Aomine take the sport least serious since he's often to ditch the practice and play anytime that he want.. So with this, Daiki Aomine is eliminated.. *) Step 3 C1 : Well, undoubtedly that Genzo Wakabayshi is the best in his sport since apparently he's the number 1 goalkeeper in Japan for his age (GW : 1 // OT : 0 // KA : 0) C2 : In this case, i would pick Keigo Atobe anytime since he's an excellent leader and captain for the team which can go so far to sacrifice himself as long as his team can wins the match (GW : 1 // OT : 0 // KA : 1) C3 : Once again, Genzo Wakabayashi is the most successful in term of achievement since apparently he already made it to Japan National Team, winning the world youth and joins Hamburg SV in Germany, while other character still stuck in Japanese level although Keigo does make it to National Team (GW : 2 // OT : 0 // KA : 1).. With this, Genzo Wakabayashi advance to final.. C4 : While Oikawa does have a pretty good obsession with winning, he can't be compare to that of Keigo's determination and obsession (OT : 0 // KA : 2).. With this, Keigo Atobe advance to final.. While Oikawa Tooru is eliminated *) Step 4 While both Keigo Atobe and Genzo Wakabayashi do have a lot of ambition and obsession to winning the game, i'm afraid that neither one of them will do such thing since they still play their sport without any kind of cheating and use any underhanded method.. Well, i do enjoy both characters a lot.. Genzo Wakabayshi is the character that made me enjoy and admire goalkeeper position in football a lot and give me a great impact when i was a kid since he made me play and love football until now while Keigo Atobe is always among my all time favorite character since i like his determination a lot.. While i do like both characters a lot, i guess i'll still go with Keigo Atobe although Genzo Wakabayashi also gave me a pretty decent impact back in my childhood but Keigo Atobe's development is what make me like his character a lot since while he's very proud of himself to the level of arrogant, he can still put that aside and will do anything to help his team winning which is excellent IMO.. So with this, Genzo Wakabayashi is eliminated.. While Keigo Atobe is crowned as “Best Athlete in Anime!” Well, that's very interesting dude! Especially since you tackle the sport category which i like a lot XD Anyway, keep up with the good job dude.. Can't wait to see your next survey XD |

G-GilThunder said: what's your favorite anime movie ? Still after all these years, it´s Princess Mononoke ^^ The story is fascinating, the message of respecting nature and tolerance in general is simple but told in such a brilliant way, the characters are wonderful and it´s just impressive how so many heartwarming and beautiful scenes can fit into what is basically a war setting. Also the animation is unbelievable for 1997 and even set new standards in this field like basically all Ghibli works did in the 90s and the music is also a joy to listen to. This anime has a real classical score to it and it´s the prettiest of them all. Just a perfect work of art by the brilliant Hayao Miyazaki :) |

PhKay said: 5,000+ post speech! I congratulated you before but at the time I didn't notice this hahaha I think your HST has more about you than most of other hst has about their owners and not just because your have more posts.. in part because you are willing to talk about a lot of subjects and you are never short with your answers ^^ Told you your HST was going to be the biggest ~ Anw, congratulations again! feel like trying to predict the 6000 posts? xD PhKay said: Harus said: Really you are never going to change it? Izanagi777 said: Anyway.. apparently Leicester City is officially the new Champion of England.. What's your opinion about it dude? And do you think they're deserve to win it? :D well...the whole world seems to love it and i completely understand why. I have also hardly ever felt so much joy as a sports fan towards a team i usually don´t support. They have been everybodies darlings all season long and for sure they also were mine. If you look at how much money in general is spent and especially in the Premier League, this title is an inspiration for every smaller club everywhere in the world. It basically means that everybody can win a championship. You just have to be ready to step in when the powerhouses struggle. If you look at players like Vardy, Mahrez or Kanté and where they played before, and also what they vost (Mahrez came for under a million pounds from Le Havre in the french second division, Vardy played 3rd league in England!) it also is finally proof how extraordinarily important good talent scout are in football and that there is more to look out for then first leagues all over the globe. As mainly a Newcastle and second of all a Chelsea fan, i also love this because as i mentioned for the smaller clubs like Newcastle who struggles to survive this year it is really inspiring as to what could be possible if things work out and you got the right people in the right places outside of the pitch. As a Chelsea fan, i feel really happy for Claudio Ranieri. His work at Chelsea was completely underestimated and he did a great job. He was manager when Abramovich came in and brought the money and he led a completely new team to 4th place and therefore back into the Champions League and also into the semifinal of the CL. They beat Arsenal in the Quarterfinals back then which was a huge deal because it was the year Arsenal went undefeated in the Premier League. Still he was replaced because Arbramovich wanted Mourinho. Ranieri struggled a lot as a coach in the past ten years and the media and so called experts predicted Leicester to not stand a chance to stay in the PL. I´d say they managed to stay up quite easily lol He was also odds on favorites among bookmakers to be the first manager to get fired in the season. It is really funny to look back and read all the statements and predictions ahead of the season. It really was a remarkable year that won´t come around like this again anytime soon. As a hopeless sports romanticist, this is now the greatest sports story of all time. It actually really might be the biggest upset in the history of sports. There have been bigger upsets in terms of single matches or events, but a 5000:1 underdog winning a whole league, over 38 games played over 10 months...i don´t think this has ever happened before, at least not in a sport or league where people from all over the world show interest in. There also is no doubt in my mind they deserve it. A whole bunch of players exceeded even the highest expectations, Ranieri found the perfect tactics to make them successful and they kept their cool and their nerves at all points in the season. Of course they were not the most spectacular team to watch, but they don´t have to be to deserve this. They simply don´t have the quality to offensively attack all these great teams. It is mindblowing that they were able to keep it up in the second half of the season where everybody new what was coming when they played Leicester, and still hardly anybody found a way to win. This team is a miracle and i am glad and truly grateful to have been able to have a chance to follow all of this season. This is something sports fans will tell their grandkids, so it really is something very special. Last but not least, this is a huge thing here in Austria because we never had a player winning the Premier League. Christian Fuchs does not only play at Leicester, he is actually one of their key players as he is their best defender in a defensive minded team. Many people here think he should be crowned Austrias Athlete of the Year no matter what happens at the Olympic Games or the EURO lol This would be a huge thing in a small country obsessed with wintersports, where summer athletes always live in the shadow of all these highly successful skiers, ski jumpers or snowboarders, even if they are footballers. The best part of it has yet to come actually! I can´t wait to see Leicester taking the field in the Champions League! ^^ |

Btw.. did we talked about the DRRR ending? after 60 episodes are you happy with the result? Shinra will remain where he is :P He is such a fitting character for me to impersonate and i really like this picture too. I can see a lot of similarities between me and him as well both visually and in terms of character. There has never been a anime character closer to me personally then Shinra ^^ --- All i know about the DRRR!! ending is that you stated you were diappointed in its discussion thread if i remember correctly. I can see that if you expected a big bang right at the end or something. I was quite happy with it actually. Not that it´s similar in any shape or form, but it reminded me of the ending of US TV series Gilmore Girls and i liked that as well haha I have a thing for understating endings ^^ I can't deny that shinra does remind me of you xD --- Haha so you liked that it was just an easygoing ending hhmm.. Idk i feel like that would be fine if they didn't build up the ending so much as they did ... I'll explore this idea better when I answer you on my hst xD now that it's over do you feel like it would be better to watch it as a marathon? or do you prefer the way we watched, a season at time? there were any particularities that you didn't like on the ending ? maybe a character that deserved more attention or something like that. PhKay said: Harus said: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyYC9XQcs0Q Watch this video and tell me your thoughts on the first part (umaru part) hahaha i´ve seen this a thousand times. Gigguk just never gets old, a true entertainer and i wish he had the time to be as active as Arkada is. I´m hyped for every video he puts out there. He completed "Anime in 2015" lately by the way with part 2 ^^ off-topic: THAT SCHOOL DAYS REVIEW!!! Man, what i just saud sounds so sad (like..."i have no life" lol) that i might just stop this post right here :P Lost quote of this post, i promise xD Hahaha i laughed at that part and imagine you would like it too xD I just watched a video of him explaining why he was away and that his back for a while to try to make a living of yt. tbh I didn't know him that well.. only watched a couple of videos and his taste is not exactly like mine too ... so are you happy that he'll release more content now? which other you tubers you like? Thanks so much again Harus as you have always been a major part of helping this Hot Seat to become what it is now :-)) I might stay away from predicting 6,000 as my predictions have always been so far off that it´s almost comical. I tried it with cold hard science three times and i tried to just go by feel last time, neither one nor the other came anyway near the actual date lol So i will just keep quiet about it this time and see what happens. I just totally fail as an oracle haha ------------------------------------ I understand where you are coming from with Durarara!! They in fact did build it up as if something extraordinary would happen right at the end. But it´s not like nothing happened in the last part. It was basically a all in situation between Mikado and Kida. He pointed a real gun at him, man! lol They just decided to resolve this a few episodes before the final episodes and give it a quieter end. I would compare it to a "fade-out" in music, calming the audience down before leaving the stage for good. It´s a matter of taste again i guess like almost everything in entertainment. Given there were so many interesting characters in this, i guess i was very happy with the screentime each of them got. It is really difficult if not impossible to tell all these smart storylines in such a way that everybody gets the screentime they deserve so they handled this very well. If there is such a character i would´ve wished for Kasane to appear earlier. She was amazing. ------------------------------- I´m extremely glad Gigguk plans on doing at least monthly videos now that PodTaku is dead once and for all. As i mentioned above he is a extremely funny entertainer and i love his humor. I totally recommend watching most of his reviews (especially School Days, it´s legendary) if you enjoyed the "Anime in 2015" lookbacks. They are hardly reviews but also rough comedic opinions about the shows. He wants to make people love more than anything else. Besides him i follow Tristan Gallant (GRArkada, Glass Reflection). He uploads reviews mainly and he does so very frequently, almost every week. He does it well too and is very good at explaining his thoughts. Others channels i check not regularly but from time to time to see if something new is on: BobSamurai who takes a comedic approach at anime mainly and Top 10 list makers MistyChronexia and Acnologia. Misty is not as good as he used to be in my opinion though. Acnologia is not that spectacular but he has a very similar taste as i have and his voice is pleasant to listen to so his toplists were always something i checked if i wanted to search for new stuff to add :) |

| Yes! Liverpool won! Somehow I thought they had lost the first leg at home, thus the reason why I was so disappointed last time. But great to see them on the final. Too bad City couldn't do the same. Thoughts on the CL and EL results? Did you watch any of them? And by the way, I can't remember if I have asked you this before, but have you ever played any visual novels? Do you like them? |

And by the way, I can't remember if I have asked you this before, but have you ever played any visual novels? Do you like them? Watched both CL games and Liverpool v Villareal. I had the chance to pick either EL game and also both in conference but decided on Liverpool only as i didn´t give Shakthar much of a chance. As far as my predictions went i was spot on this time except for the way Real v City would go. I thought this was gonna be a high scoring affair with City taking some risks on attack, bot it wasn´t at all and to be honest i still wonder what they were thinking. If the plan was to play it safe and stay in a 1-goal match for as long as possible and try to attack at the end to see if they get nervous, it sorta kinda worked as they only were missing one goal. However, they were never able to create a single dangerous situation at all. What disturbed me even more was their lack of emotions This is the clubs first CL semifinal and you are a goal away from knocking out the greatest club in football history. However the players showed the same emotion and willpower than in a Premier League game against Bournemouth or whoever..it was really weird. I totally missed this desire to win. Pellegrinos interview afterwards was a joke, stating his team did not deserve to go out as Real didn´t have a single chance on goal...well...they didn´t have many but they were there whilst ManCity was as far away from scoring as Trump from a fitting haircut. Atletico were not doing what they did to Barca. Especially in the first half they didn´t play good defensive football but rather simply bad football. Bayern will be kicking themselves for going out. They played great for the most part, but a huge missed opportunity (in this case a penalty) + 1 single mistake was enough for Atletico to hang on. I´m glad they did ^^ Tonights games were no-brainers. Sevilla deserved the win without a doubt and they responded really well when Shakthar equalized too judging from the highlights. Liverpool was just impressive. They completely outplayed Villareal from start to finish and there was never a doubt who would go to the final despite the 0-1 loss in the first leg. Really looking forward to both these finals now and i keep my fingers crossed for Liverpool and Atletico. It woud be awesome for Klopp and the club to win this title and maybe even more importantly play in the Champions League again and i´m also getting sick and tired from seeing Sevilla lift the cup year after year after year. It´s getting old lol Atletico was the CL winner two years ago until 2 minutes from the end. This must´ve hurt them a lot, i hope they can take revenge. Especially even if they made the final twice in three seasons now, you can never know how long they will remain to be a world class quality team while Real always has been at the top and always will be. Atletico winning would just be the more beautiful story. ----------------------------- I haven´t played any VNs but i will try soon hopefully. I got increasingly curious about them ever since joining MAL and reading posts about them here. It seems like a fun thing. What sparked my interest the most was watching White Album 2. While the anime does feel to be a complete story with an open ending, all they adapted was the so called "Introduction Chapter". I wanted to know how it all continued so i researched and ended up reading not only the main route of the next chapter of the VN but also every single other route you can get to when playing the game depending on your choices. It was kind of fascinating and i am getting closer to finally getting my hands on a VN ^^ I got to do more research though as i want to make sure i try one that has not been turned into an anime and also never will be. I don´t want to spoil a possible show to watch for me hehe |

PhKay said: Haha, i see.. Nice to know your opinion about Leicester and truthfully, while this season is awful for Chelsea, i still happy to see a club like Leicester City won the EPL league which prove that you don't need a fat cash to wins the league, and just like you said, it can also give more motivation to other underdog clubs out there..well...the whole world seems to love it and i completely understand why. ^^ Come to think about it, i guess we never even heard Vardy, Mahrez, or Kante names last season, and now Vardy is England National Team striker, Mahrez is PFA Player of the Year, and Kante is wanted by a lot of European giants.. Yeah, this season is also pretty bad for Newcastle i guess.. Do you think they can survive from relegation dude? And yeah, even what's make sweeter is the fact that Chelsea is the one who decided the title for Leicester since they drew Tottenham at Bridge last week.. I also saw that there's this guy who bring the banner with some writing "wins it for Ranieri" lol.. and yeah, up until now i guess he rarely won anything but as for now i guess he can be proud to say that he's a champion of England.. Well, true.. While there's also several moments like this before (like Kaiserlautern won Bundesliga in their first year after promotion) but this is EPL we are talking about where the giant clubs have the budget that level a hundred millions pounds :/ and yeah, it's definitely something that we can talk to our children in the future XD What, really? I rarely watch Leicester games but i know that Christian Fuchs is Austrian National Team captain isn't it? Well, that's nice to know then.. Hope he can actually become Austria Athlete of the year for 2016 XD and yeah, let's see how far they can go in UCL since that's the actual real deal.. Hope we can see something like Leicester vs Barcelona or something.. Anyway, with this season finishing.. What's your opinion about this season of EPL dude? and speaking of Chelsea, do you know that we'll get Antonio Conte next season? Do you think he can make Chelsea become EPL giants once more dude? |

What's your opinion about this season of EPL dude? and speaking of Chelsea, do you know that we'll get Antonio Conte next season? Do you think he can make Chelsea become EPL giants once more dude? 1, Newcastle is one ahead of Sunderland, has played a game more and has the by far worse goal difference which essentially means we have to get the same amount of points as Sunderland to stay up. Newcastle has Aston Villa away and Tottenham at home left to play. Sunderland play Chelsea at home, then Everton at home and then Watford away. It´s not looking to good as Sunderland is playing only against teams who play for absolutely nothing anymore and two of them aren´t even good. All i can hope is for them to slip up and for Chelsea to take this game seriously tomorrow. Tomorrow could be the decisive day. We play at Villa who are dead last and they play against Chelsea. If we manage to win there and Chelsea wins, it´s looking pretty ok. Still i think Sunderland will get 5 or 6 points out of the last games. So i´m sure if we wanna make it, we have to win both our games. We played really well with our backs against the wall lately, getting 8 points out of the last 4 matches (wins v Swansea and Crystal Palace, draws v ManCity and Liverpool). I hope they can keep it up and save themselves somehow. I favor Sunderland to make it :( They control their own fate and also played okay lately. With Everton and Watford doing what they do, i can only hope for Chelsea to beat them tomorrow... Norwich has an outside chance too, but i really don´t see it happen at all. I think they are dead and buried. If things go perfect tomorrow, things change drastically. We could then control our own destiny on the last day of the season v Tottenham who by then are playing for nothing. If they beat Southampton before that, they are guaranteed to finish 2nd and their motivation will be pretty low. They might even be saving a few players who are going to the EURO like Harry Kane. So basically i think the coming matchday in less than 16 hours could be the decisive one. -------------- My opinion on the whole EPL season? well...the craziest thing ever isn´t it lol So many big guns struggling, mainly Chelsea of course but also ManCity who were top favorites didn´t really challenge for the title and were out of the race with ten games to play. Arsenal fell apart in February and March before regrouping which is something they always do. Tottenham will be kicking themselves. They missed out on the CL spots and finished in 5th for most of the past 5 years, and now that they overtook all those teams, Leicester takes the crown away from them lol Anyway they will be happy to finally get a chance to play in the Champions League. It´s gonna be interesting on the last few games who will get the final CL spots, i personally think ManUtd still has a good chance of getting in there. West Ham was also a great surprise and since the owner of a pub i frequent moved to Vienna from London, is a diehard West Ham fan and even founded the 1st West Ham fanclub of Austria, i feel happy for him to get to the Europa League. Rapid finishes 2nd in Austria so maybe we play West Ham in the EL, that would be fun haha Down at the bottom it´s pretty much what i expected. Three of the five candidates for relegation will go down. The fifth one for me was Bournemouth but they played outstanding for their standards. Palace was bad but also avoided to get into big trouble, so no surprises there. ------- Conte has been announced as Chelseas new coach for a while now. Chelsea has always been a somewhat defensive minded team and i think they wanna restore that with Conte who more than likely will bring 2 or 3 defenders with him. I see no reason to bring in new players on midfield or attack. They had a poor season but they still are great players and they will find their form again next season. The defense is simply too bad and also too old to play defensively. Everyone who put pressure on Chelsea will score and that was the main problem all season long, NOT the bad season the offense had. We will see who comes along with Conte, i think he´s a reaosnable choice for the job. I can´t see Chelsea compete for the title next year as the Premier League is not a league where a bigger club who struggled hard gets back to the very top immediately as you can see on the example of ManUtd. It takes 2-3 years to get back to championship form. Next year i think ManCity will be untouchable with Guardiola as their manager, also Mourinho is going to ManUtd which should be interestng and i think they will be ahead of Chelsea as well. Behind that everything is possible. I think the London clubs Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea will fight for 3rd, 4th and 5th. So the goal should be to make it back to the Champions League which they should be able to do as they are not playing internationally at all which surely helps a bit later in the year. |

-clover- said: You can change the rarity of eye colors around the world. What do you change them to? (Like Brown = 5%, Blue = 13%, Hot Pink = 50%, Green = 13%, Yellow = 10%, Others = 9%) --Pretty random question this one.. lol that one is out of the ordinary....let´s see... Brown=1% Blue=70% Green=10% Purple=7% Orange=7% 5%=multicolored Reasons: Brown is just boring in every way. Nothing that´s brown looks amazing, at least in my opinion. It´s the most common eye color nevertheless so maybe it´s just me being so used to seeing it that it bores me. I won´t eliminate it completely, if a color like brown would be the rarest of them all, it would at least give the people who have brown eyes something unique ^^ Blue should be the by far dominating eye color! Deep blue eyes are just beautiful and i am fascinated by them both in Anime and real life. I give it 70% which should be enough to encounter people with blue eyes in all facets ;) Green can be pretty too but i´d limit that to 10%. It´s my own eye color (well...more like olive then green) and i wanna be part of the population with a rare color. I don´t want mine to be blue cause i can´t see them myself unless i look in the mirror if that makes sense ;) The rest is just me fooling around and filling up the 100% lol Purple and Orange are the prettiest colors that were left so i would distribute them evenly. Orange might look really scare though but i think it could work out. 5% mulitcolored because WHY NOT ;) Rainbow eyes like Chika from HaruChika in real life...could be interesting... |

Zaheezy said: Thoughts on Haibane Renmei? I've been thinking of watching it for a while (as in, I might get around to it in like, September) and I was wondering if it was worth a watch. I watched it as part of the Anime Roulette over at Haru´s club, so i copy my thoughts i wrote down immediately after finishing it here. It is worth mentioning that i got critised for viewing it too much as a mystery show for those statements below. Indeed Haibane Renmei can be seen as something completely different. I personally still saw it through the eyes of the mystery fan that i am and i think it is fair as the show actually advertised itself as Mystery. However, here they are: While Haibane Renmei definitely has a lot of potential to blow my mind since i´m a mystery fan and also appreciate more unique stuff that you don´t find easily in another show, i can´t even tell you exactly how i should feel about this anime. I feel happy and sad, glad i watched this and also frustrated. This Anime builds up a fantastic setting with many mysterious rules and events, has one of the most fascinating starts i ever saw and it was drawn into this world totally after episodes 1 and 2. After that, it kind of fails a little bit to keep up the tension and it doesn´t even try, but rather turns into some kind of Slice of Life show, just that we get to see slices of a Haibane´s life rather then a normal human´s. At this point i should tell you what a Haibane is, but...like many other things in this show, it´s left for your own interpretation as it never gets explained in detail. The same goes for other mysterious beings in this world. Instead of slowly but surely revealing stuff, Haibane Renmei just adds more little and big mysteries as the series goes on without ever fully explaining anything that´s going on. In the end, it was a bit frustrating to watch. They just overdid it with leaving things to think about for yourself. What it leaves behind is a watcher that is more curious then during the middle part of the show. The creators really should´ve let us know at least a bit more about what is going on in this world. There are many theories and speculations among fans and they were easy to find and are interesting to study, but in the end they are just speculations. At the same time, the adding of more mysteries during the anime was also it´s biggest strength. Those episodes were just absolutely amazing to watch, so keeping the story a bit more simple would´ve also reduced the quality of the show as the mentioned Slice of Life-ish part is no way near as good as the rest of it. In the end i strill rate this a 7 because even though i do feel unfulfilled at the ending, i still enjoyed the ride towards it a lot and saw some of the best single episodes in a long time. Also the "fear" that they might never go to resolve stuff creeped into me long before the ending, so i wasn´t unprepared which makes this WTF!? experience much more bareable. Apart from the too many unexplained things, i´d say the supporting characters are another weakness in this show as they aren´t as interesting as Reki and Rakka at all and i didn´t really care for them at any point. On the other hand, the music Haibane Renmei has to it is really good and fitting and the animation looks nice too for 2002/03 standards. If you guys enjoy this or not mainly depends on how well you can handle things that are left unresolved. The mystery genre is expected to reveal the true meaning of stuff at the end and is often judged on the surprise factor it delivers by doing so. This show takes another path entirely and i wish it would´ve at least found a nice balance between what they give away and what they don´t. They walked the other path all the way instead. I give them credit for doing this, but yeah...i can´t help but feel like i watched all these great episodes for nothing but they joy they gave me while i was watching them. If you give no information at all, then nothing will stay in the mind of the watchers. That´s why i will probably forget about this anime soon even though it really was something special... |

| Hey phkay , i wanted to ask . If you dropped a series or put it on hold for long time ( like 3-4 months ) after watching X episodes of it , would you rewatch all X episodes again if you decide to pick it up to remember what happened in episodes you watched ? I'm asking this cause i dropped strike the blood at episode 16 and I want to continue it , but i have a feeling I'll be lost if i continue from ep 16 . Should I try reading episode summaries to jog my memory ? |

After 16 episodes, i think i would try reading episodes summaries and maybe rewatching the last to episodes i´ve seen. This should be enough to remind you of most details and the main plot will not have been gone anyway. It´s all in the back of your head, you just have to find a way to get it out there haha So yeah...summaries +the latest 1-2 episodes unless the summaries already helped you enough to remember what´s exactly going on ^^ |
