If you could live in any time period, what would you choose, and why?

This is a tough one for me, if I had to choose between two it would be colonial times in America (late 1700's), or the 1960's, when Rock music started to become more recognized and popular.

Present time for me, all the racists would want to live in the past. A life without the technology we have now is a step back on gaining knowledge and evolution. Being in the past is too predictable and have already been documented and whitewashed.

1940's Germany, convince Hitler not to invade Russia until the western allies are defeated.
That or save Rommel so he can lead Germany to a glorious future.

"If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. He will put some things behind, will pass an invisible boundary; In proportion as he simplifies his life, the laws of the universe will appear less complex, and solitude will not be solitude, nor poverty poverty, nor weakness weakness." - Henry David Thoreau

Late 19th century London because of the events unfolding there. They were trying to cope with their large population boom and in the process became the world's largest city. I would have liked to meet Conan Doyle and read his works as they were published. Attempt to go after the infamous Jack the Ripper and see the completion of the Tower Bridge. While the poverty and disease stricken streets would be a downside I'd try to get in good with the Rothschild banking business. If that didn't pan out I'd try my hand at police work.

I was thinking about that time period in England as well. I feel like the cultural aspect of English people back then is quite intriguing

The fuedal ages of Europe or Japan, maybe China at the various points in its warring past.

I would like to not sieze power, so much as put the skills and mind I have to the test for a worthy master on his rise and if need be, fall.

Something about those, in a manner simplier times, when one could live for some time, and as the instrument of war or statecraft, even if as a slave would be far better than the pointless freedom, backstabbing, and "peace", I find myself with today.

During those times one could prove ones worth, it didn't count so much on connections or documentation.

So the region of the 15-16th Century or before, back to the 400's in the case of China.

It was an odd and interesting time. The city was met with a large portion of immigration and because of it advanced to accommodate it. I mean they developed home security, the first railway(in london), larger sewer systems which would be improved on until today. While being a trading capital as I already stated it was plagued by disease and poverty which resulted in increase of crime. Really, it was a huge melting pot that the Britians were trying to get a handle on.

It really is an interesting time period. I'm probably going to Wiki Britain's history now because I really only know the fundamentals of how everything was there back then from what I had learned when I was in school.

Ditto.
I don't have any reason or desire to live in the past. I think some of the people that do might just be romanticising it too much, based on what they've read and watched in fictional stories of those time periods. I got a feeling they'd miss the present time pretty soon.

- XVIII century Italy or France because of the great people of the time and because i like this century art, culture, and fashion.
- Ancient Greece or Roman Italy during Roman Kingdom/Republic/Empire for the same reason of above.

Alternately, the far future would be cool too.

Right now. Entertainment technology and modern medicine are the only real reasons I need. Going back to the past would mean pretty much losing all my favorite movies, shows and games, along with technology as a whole not being as good. The profit would be...??

If I was about to get born in another time, then it would be around year 1750 in Sweden. Preferably in a yeoman family, then I could study and get some job as an official of some sort. Or maybe become an alcoholic priest who will scare everybody with hell every Sunday.

I'd stay in this period, traveling to the future would suck because I'd not know anything about the new technology and people would think I'm an idiot, traveling back to the past would be a bad idea either because people would still think I'm an idiot.

In general, technically, a human can't live in the past or the future, it's not possible to adapt to these kinda so new environments.

Inevitable, to say the least, that the far future is seemingly bleak. Unless people get their shit together and stop being ignorant assholes then maybe, yeah I'm sure the future would be better then.
