One dream that will probably never come true: A full anime adaptation of Kimi no Iru Machi or Suzuka anime reboot.

A lot of people talk about zhiend songs like trigger or falling but nobody talks about the one playing at 16:50 of charlotte episode 8. Does someone knows what is the name of that song?

I personally found this episode to be amazing. Sure, time-travel might feel like a cop-out to some, but while it came out of absolutely nowhere, it actually all makes sense. And it'll make even more sense once Shun does his explaining next episode.

I also feel a little vindicated by this episode. Way back when Charlotte first started airing, everyone was convinced Ayumi was going to die, but I was convinced that that was too obvious. We all saw it coming, so they wouldn't do that. I had a feeling that something else would come along and blindside us just like at the end of Angel Beats. When Episode 6 came along I felt like a bit of an idiot, but after this episode, not only do we know there's a way to save Ayumi, but we have also now been officially blindsided. As I said, I don't think any of us were expecting that at all.

Maybe noteworthy since we now know for certain that Yuu can steal powers.

Thoughtography, telekinesis and the fly ability might be his.

Noa looking mighty fine this episode. Nice that we have some of the backstory. But I'm really hoping that we don't end with a happy go lucky ending. But I do want Nao and Yu to end up together.

Well, that's quite the info dump.

Wow, so Yuu's ability is two-fold. While it's lesser use is able to temporarily take hold of a person's body for 5 seconds, it's actual power lies in that it can steal another ability user's power for himself. What's more, he can at least use two stolen powers at once.

Imagine if he could take hold of multiple OP powers at once... Flight, super strength, intangibility, invisibility, super speed, mind reading, pyrokinesis, psychokinesis, time travel... He could become a living god haha.

Also, it seems he's somewhat jealous of Nao's "admiration" for his brother. Shit's getting real.

You know, I can't help but see the concept of time travel as a cop-out the more I see it, unless the show revolves around it(not that it can't be screwed up even then). It's what often some previous events pointless for the most part. This is one of the worst examples too, IMO, as it just appears like a convenient twist, a concept that had absolutely no part in the anime for 9 freaking episodes.

It actually does have quite a lot to do with the past 9 episodes. The events in the past 9 episodes only happened because Yuu's brother used his power to go back in time to change events. If he didn't Ayumi would've been dead a lot sooner.

Now only if this shit happened in episode 4, eh?

Hopefully the blind brother means that he cannot use his power anymore (cuz he cannot use his powers when he was binded in the lab with the shit on his eyes and he said that only if he could see)

Also hopefully that means Yuu cannot steal his powers... but the dude still has his eyes open.... wtf.
Looks like that is probably what is gonna happen but hopefully not

Fuck time travelling especially to save the dumb imouto.

So this came to me while watching: Shunsuke became blind after he used his time travel ability. Now that Yuu wants to save his sister, he needs to take Shunsuke's ability of time travel and to travel before she died. So at the end of Charlotte, Yuu is going to blind.

P.S. Just a thought.

If he becomes blind when he uses his power, though, then how would he ever have figured out he had it (as he was not blind before he went back)? How would the scientists have ever figured it out? Perhaps you only become blind with overuse?

Great episode, this development really surprised me, I thought it would be shown more about Yuu and Sala, but the past of Yuu and Ayumi that was shown, the two have been captured and studied, and now I'm curious as to how they escaped and how lost his memoirs, furthermore, feel that Yuu begins to be jealous of Nao with her brother, I'm anxious to see the next episodes and how the protagonist will act from now on ..

Why build your entire second half revolves around reviving an undeveloped, cardboard cutout, stereotypical imotu character? You thought if Ayumi is really that significant they would spend more time on making her more sympathetic ( accidentally crushed herself to death while being threatened by a delusional psychopath who is also her classmate ), relatable ( spend every episodes making the same joke ), or interesting ( spend every episodes making the same joke ). It's just basic writing 101, and I'm not even talk about how cheap and retarded the whole "reviving a dead character" thing is, and it's written by the same guy who said he would learn from the mistakes he made in Angel Beats!. Come on, I don't even know it's a lie or a joke. Charlotte has every right and potential to be your typical superpower coming-of-age or whatever tear-jerking anime and he still fails at that. There's something really wrong here. Now I'm not even sure if he's trying anymore. The man has limits, that's for sure, and apparently it is getting lower with the time.

And you know, I was wrong comparing Charlotte to Glasslip (they are the most shocking anime of their respective season tho), even though P.A. Works should also share some blame (the visual and sound aren't that impressive, especially in this episode), Angel Beats! is a better comparison, especially Jun Maeda said this is made for those who said AB is shit.

Well it has been sufficient enough to say Charlotte is way, wayyy shitter than AB! in terms of writing. Maybe that's his point?

Have to admit those who say the imouto character was quite 1-dimensional and annoying did have a point. I personally don't mind Ayumi but it's a little predictable the whole storyline about her dying and then using a time travel power to bring her back to life. It's nicely done I like the animation and sound but it's not the best thing. And this episode was a bit rushed I think. By KEY and Jun Maeda's standards this anime is below average but it stands well against a lot of other shows in general for having interesting concept and decent comedy and drama. Plus Nao looked really cute in this ep.

What's confusing me is that in the dream it seemed like Shunsuke was the one who time leaped into the past. If so, how would Yuu remember his memories about the scientists and the facility if those things never happened to Yuu in this timeline since Shunsuke prevented that?

Nice twist although I saw some of it coming, but besides that.
All this anime really needed was a few more episodes to flesh things out beforehand. Like, at least 15-17 episodes.
The Yuu breakdown episode if you asked me should have been a 2 episode thing. With the latter episode ending his rampage halfway through.
The facility thing was nice, but should have been at least one episode if you ask me.
Anyways, about "saving Ayumi" I don't think it's really trying to focus on that, but rather undo everything that's happened to those who were victimized by the scientists or whoever the big bad is (Might be Shun tho)
Ayumi would be the most vital part of the mission, but not the whole goal if that makes sense.

Honestly , I expected much more . Anticlimas seemed to me, ok it's something ' innovative ' , but where's the drama? Where's that critical moment worthy of Key works? There is not!
That was very Deus ex machine , it appears that put it out of nowhere . Ok I was giving some clues , but still ...
If Yuu was who had come back in time to understand, or even No, but I expect a good explanation in the next episode , it looks like it will be another flashback.

I like how when Shun uses his Time Leap ability, his eyes form star trails.

It likely symbolizes how star trail photographs are long-exposure, which emphasizes the "time travel" aspect.

However, I noticed how the "stars" move counter-clockwise, which means his eyes showcase a view from the north pole. I believe that the perfect round-ness of the star trails in his eyes mean that it's in the celestial poles too. I think this goes hand-in-hand with the "geocentrism" or "Ptolemaic" thing.

Heck, the old man is pretty interesting. He states how "It's an extraordinary theory when you think in today's standards, but back then, it was the normal way of thought."
This made me thinking about how generally people aren't so interested in the starry objects anymore, but there were so many philosophers and stuff studying them back then.
He also asks Yuu:

And continues with saying that "He was treated as a nonconformist, shunned, and couldn't do anything anymore."

This is pretty similar to how people with powers are treated. I'm going to take a guess here, but if geocentrism was true, then wouldn't star trails have that "perfect round-ness" everywhere on the globe?

Shun = the true epitome of shunned?
Since he has an extremely important power, he could represent the negativity around every power user ever from these scientists, like how geocentrism/Ptolemaic is now not commonly believed. After all, he was tied down and blindfolded.
Considering that the man also likes classical music, which sadly, not many people listen to anymore, I think it further shows that he supports the power users.

I loved this anime in the beginning and it had all the good setup and premise to become really amazing, but it's been kinda lacking recently. The one-cour 13 episode limitation is really showing through with the infodump flashback and rushed pacing. If they had taken more time to flesh characters out and gradually reveal the story piece by piece, the presentation would have been much better, but who I am to judge a series that hasn't finished yet?

However, I'm confused as to why Jun didn't just turn this anime into two-cour or even split-cour. The rushed pacing is really straining my suspension of disbelief and getting out of hand. The time travel plot device has already been done many times before (As some people have also pointed out, Key themselves have used it in some of their other stories as well). Even so, there's still a chance that Jun could prove me wrong.

We can agree that the true power of Tomori is to tell lies and deceive others?
And the excuses used in this episode, to hide their lies and the fact that she spent the whole anime, lying and deceiving others, can not be erased and simply swept under the carpet, through of the phrase: ''Nao is cute''.

in think that once in MAL, there were serious and constructive arguments.
most currently most discussions and arguments presented in MAL, comes down to delusional arguments and excuses from children who are in love with his character.

i predicted time travel from the time i first watched the OP. and here we go. everything i've watched that meddles with the space-time continuum (Clannad, Madoka, Little Busters, Steins;Gate, Haruhi) was ace, though, so i have high expectations for how they're going to approach it in the last 4 eps.

also, their representation of post-rock was completely inaccurate and kinda annoying tbh. and dat engrish. they spend a fuckload on the animation budget but can't hire a fluent english composer to write the songs? hell, hook me up and i'll do it for free.

This episode was interesting. We were introduced to a bunch of new characters, and the enigmatic scientists finally got some screen time. With a power like Time Leap entering the fray, this could get interesting.

Unfortunately, I'm not honestly that eager to find out the deal behind the scientists. They feel so cliche in their villainy; I can't even find a selfish reason for the pain that put on the teenagers they take in. Hopefully, they'll provide some elaboration on them.

On the plus side, though, Nao was still awesome in the episode. Besides that, I'm still ultimately going to finish this to the end because I have a little bit of hope that Maeda will find a way to make this all work.
