Shirou is a straight faced character whom most of his character comes from in his head. inner dialogue is cut so that you don't have the MC narrating for 20 min an episode but when you make a cut like that there needs to be compensation for this character to still retain himself. The first half only lazily handles this. it cuts so much that shirou looses a lot of impact. it doesnt show that shirou immediately knew lancer had come back for him or that he had a plan for defending himself it barely shows him blocking lancer's kick. It doesnt show that shirou wanted to be put down during the temple fight because he doesnt like being dead weight, it doesnt show that he deliberately dodged a fatal blow from archer. it doesnt show his brief bit of distortion during the date with rin. there is just enough of shirou that is shaved off to make him more generic and hollow and this could have been a easy fix that never actually came. would you say that it would be better if we got the kiritsugu flashback from day1 were shirou does projection and kerry tells him it's useless BEFORE he starts pulling swords out of his ass? Would it be nice if at some point during the first half Shirou gives his whole hearted opinion of Rin in an evening monologue just so all this rinX shirou shit doesnt just come off as so one sided that shirou is just another retarded generic male protag? wouldnt it have made taiganapping more interesting in the anime for Saber and rin to openly state to throw away taiga? we dont need every single word from the VN to be in the anime but compensation for what was cut out would help, an explanation for something like the difference between magecraft and truemagic and a well detailed explanation of what a reality marble is.The first half was anything but Lazy, but I do agree that some of the modifications were totally retarded. |

I just can't believe it is an April fool because they are all saying the same thing. I just read some things like newly written Gil's lines about respecting Herc and about amazing voice acting in Illya scene (by the way I don't remeber exactly but did Illya cry?).
