What's your view on giving and receiving them? Personally, I really love buying presents for random people on random occasions, receiving, not so much. Properly I am better at reading people's taste than they are at reading mine.

What's the last present you send/receive?

Come on people, I've got a feeling this thread's gonna turn out great.

I LOVE gifting others presents. Secret santa is the best invention ever. Receiving presents, especially expensive ones, makes me feel guilty and I don't know how to properly thank people. :c So I'm definitely on the "sending presents" camp.

I've always been the one giving, I've found that a fraction of it actually gives back!

Only fags who pretend to say shit like "giving it better than receiving" to try to look morally correct and make others think they are good people.

I don't really like either, I never know what to give someone and don't ever really want anything myself. Presents just don't make sense to me.

I prefer neither.

Giving Presents and receiving can a a hassle. I just end up with unopen boxes, because I never need any of the stuff, and I have to wait months before some one decides to buy of me on amazon or ebay.

On the other hand giving presents is a pain, since I have to spend money, and waste them searching and buying a gift.

In the end time and money would be saved if I do not receive or have to give anything.

Who hear thinks Gift of the Magi is overrated? Cray girl cuts her hair to buy a pocket watch chain and cray dude sells his watch to buy a set of combs. And I'm sitting here thinkin "Who the fuck sells a watch for a comb?"

What a shitty read

I like both giving and receiving, but receiving makes me happier.
I also feel so awkward sometimes when I'm giving presents, all I can think of is "will he/she like it?!".
But when I'm receiving them I don't have any negative emotions, I'm just excited.

The best present I've got was a book. It got extravagant packaging and ribbons.
The best present I ever sent was a pot of orchid. I hope. Don't know if it still lives now.

The whimpers and moans of joy from the receiver as they take in your gift is also a joy in and of itself.

okay, well

a president which is personal is something i'd love to get
i like things which are handmade for me or really odd trinkets
examples:
drawings done for me, even if they're not so artistic, are great
a medallion i was given... i translated the writing, which is chinese, but the god on it seems closest to the hindu tradition

a present more mundane, like shower stuff, is kind of pointless
or something i'll be expected to put on display, because it could be an inconvenience if it was chosen poorly
so not really gifts for the sake of gifts

i like to give gifts though
but again, not gifts for the sake of gifts
if i think my gift isn't great then i buy a selection of things... i get a little nervous

as a kid, my cousins and my siblings were just exchanging money, which was really dumb
you give them money on their birthday, then they give you money (or a gift card..)
nobody gets anything in the end

I only give gifts to people I feel I owe or to people I'm close to.... Come to think of it I feel like I owe them as well because they did put up with me.

I like giving gifts but it takes me awhile to find the right things. It feels weird to receive presents from people though when its random, I feel obligated to "repay" them.

I like to send presents a lot. Especially if it's something someone has mentioned really wanting but not being able to get. But that's mostly because I get stressed about accidentally getting them something they don't like. It's also awesome to see them get really excited about it though. I hate receiving presents because I really hate when people spend money on me.

Not only do I not like people spending on me, I don't like they do something either, like cooking/knitting/hand crafting. But again, if it's something that hits my soft spot like writings, extravagant/fancy wrapping, I really really love it.
