Why do you think dragons are cool in anime, games, movies, etc.?
| It can't really be said that dragons are a fad. Yes, people are beginning to get tired of swords and sorcery type media, but games like Dragon Age and movies like the Hobbit are still making tons of money. Anime like Fairy Tail is still very popular. This begs the question, what is it about dragons that you like? Do you like books where dragons have their own civilizations and try to coexist with humans? Do you like when they are the super-boss you have to face at the end of a video-game? Do you prefer when humans successfully tame or befriend dragons. Or maybe you just prefer all out war with dragons, because it's so badass. My answer is that I like when humans and dragons try to coexist. Sorry if I missed your option! If your answer is "other/none of the above" please explain in comments. I look forward to hearing from you! Oh, and feel free to share your favorite media that has dragons in it:) |

| I hate dragons, and I think that the fictional worlds would be better off without them. I never understood why they are so popular; they're cliche, ugly, annoying, and always seem to be the highlight of whatever story they're involved in, which is very off-putting to me. Skyrim would've been way better if the main character wasn't dragonborn, for example. The only fiction I tolerate them in is in A Song of Ice an Fire. |

| dragons are cool and surprisingly - there aren't enough many games don't have proper dragons which look strong and mighty and graceous and legendary, too many games butcher their images imo surprisingly DA:I made pretty good dragons even if the game itself isnt' as good as it SHOULD have been. The dragons are badass/big/beefy/powerful/diverse and not gay |

| Well, that was interesting. More people are sick of dragons on MAL than I thought! Oh, and as for what I voted, I actually didn't vote until just now (I like the dragons that can be befriended). Granted, if they didn't fly and breathe fire they would be a lot less cool, so, I guess both. |
| In eastern culture dragons are the manifestation of mother nature, they blamed for earthquakes, landslides, erupting volcanoes, tsunamis, rains and flood, etc. It is a symbolism of human respect to nature. Eastern culture has a strong tendencies for anthropomorphism in the form of animals. Meanwhile in the western culture dragons are evolved from nature symbolism into human symbolism, dragons are used to depict humans own greed (amassing treasures), arrogance (refusal to bow to human), wrath (destroying villages), lusts (capturing maidens), etc. especially when Christianity comes and declared war against paganism, dragons are a perfect illustration of sins, which resulted as 'dragons are evil' narratives. Why dragons are cool? Because they're edgy, like ancient edgy. |
