Does anyone get extremely irritated with spoilers?

I can't describe how irritated I get when I accidentally come across spoilers on video comments, or just anywhere. Even on this forum. Even if the person didn't meant for it to be a spoiler, just a small slip or mention of "him" or "her" could reveal certain things which aren't supposed to be known yet and it really frustrates me.

How irritated do you get with spoilers? How far will you go to avoid seeing spoilers?

If there is something I don't want spoiled, I avoid the internet until I'm caught up. I don't get irritated because I don't really have any experience with being spoiled.

I don't mind spoilers. Journey is more important than the destination

By each let this be heard,
Some do it with a bitter look,
Some with a flattering word,
The coward does it with a kiss,
The brave man with a sword!''

Also true for me. I've never been somebody that enjoyed things that build themselves entirely on shock value that could be spoilered in the first place.

But but... isn't discovering the destination part of the journey?

Sure. I'd rather not know most of the time, but there aren't too many things that could really "spoil" the journey for me unless it's there for shock value.

I'm the kind of reader / watcher that would rather know if it's a sad or happy ending before I begin something.

Spoilers on mal are unavoidable.

Most of the time people dropping them arent doing it on purpose, and mal mods can only handle it on a reactionary basis.

By posting here youve basically agreed to deal with it if and when it happens.

Lol you know how scanlation teams like to use scenes from mangas as part of their recruitment advertisements, I once read one manga where the scanlation team edited the dying scene (which happens afterwards) and placed it at the front of that chapter. *shakes head*

Naah... I seek them.
HOW TO SAVE ANIME IN THREE SIMPLE STEPS

  1. To have Mars of Destruction, Skelter Heaven, and Pupa properly adapted in TV series form by Madhouse
  2. To have Inferno Cop properly adapted in TV series form by Bones, director: Urobuchi Gen
  3. An anime crossover of Mushishi x ARIA x Haibane Renmei.

Should even one of the above conditions cannot be done, anime is still at risk.

For what its worth, MAL spoiled the end of little busters for me while i was mid reading the novel.

I dont think i ever was more enraged by it than that. Someone intentionally spoiled UBW for me last month too.

Its just part of posting here. At least one people has to get spoiled to be able to report it to mods.

That's really unfortunate, shit does happen. But you're right, posting on such forums or even choosing to read the comments on videos is a choice which involves consenting to reading spoilers, intentional or accidental.

Everything is spoiler for me, down to the most trivial details. Which is why I don't even read the synopsis of an anime before watching it. I only look at the score, genres and the picture. And I even skip the OP and ED of anime, because almost all of them either give out the characters that are yet to be introduced or even some important events that haven't happened yet. So, yeah, I hate it if an anime (or any show/movie/game) is spoiled for me.
Thankfully though, the only show that I got spoiled on was Clannad. And the ending of School Days. Then again, I don't think there's anyone who watches anime, is on the internet, and hasn't been spoiled on the ending of School Days.

A mal mod cant handle a spoiler until someone sees it. This is just a sad fact of the internet.

Anyone who wants to spoiler you can easily do it.

Thats why you should always truly consider this before you enter an episode discussion thread, because when people get excited sometimes shit just slips out.

Had the end of Katanagatari spoiled for me. I was listening to the OST on youtube for it in between episodes and I scrolled the comments without really thinking. Ugh. The rage was real.

Lesson learned I guess.

I'm still surprised that there's not separate episode discussions for adaptions split between source readers/anime-only watchers. I mean it will make more workload for moderation no doubt, but at least people could avoid the issue of spoiling by accident. It really shouldn't be necessary in the slightest but bare courtesy is lost in the episode discussions, especially if the adaption is going badly lol.

It pisses me off too. Especially when it's a currently airing show. Then you have the manga readers who like to spoil the coming episodes in the comment sections.

I've learned to avoid the threads in anime discussion that are likely to include spoilers, so I'm usually fine. But when someone posts untagged spoilers in episode discussion threads it really pisses me off. The worst example was someone spoiling the ending of a show I hadn't even started watching yet in another series' episode discussion.

Not always, there's even times when i seek spoilers for myself, i'm not necessarily bored of the series to do this, but i may be really curious about something.

So when i was watching Clannad I opened google and typed in:

"Why is Nagisa so boring?"

Expecting to see a thread with others who prefered the other girls. Guess what came up?

Why would I get irritated if it can't be helped? What happened happened, getting depressed over it won't be benefical or anything.

eh spoilers are just there. some of them on MAL are in spoiler tags and if you choose to click it, you have to blame your own curiosity right?

as for spoilers in videos, you should just watch the entire video before scrolling through the comments then lol but yeah spoilers in OST is pretty unavoidable.

Depends.
I tend to spoil much of things myself if I really don't plan on watching them.
Or sometimes i'll spoil a movie for myself due to me not tending to have a fondness for films in the first place.
Some games I loved I spoiled for myself long before getting them.
Much of the time I tend to spoil things for myself so I do not have to get my hopes up. I make the mistake of getting my hopes too high, then to have it crash on me. I find that ruining the ending helps. I really don't like endings much at all.

I avoid spoilers as much as possible because depending on the spoiler, I may end up dropping the thing altogether, be it anime, game, books, tv series...I never finished the 5th book of Harry Potter because of spoilers.
