I've been watching so many action and martial arts anime and although fights are epic...good guys always wins. Are there any anime out there where couple of main characters die? And something not targeted towards young teens like Bleach or Naruto, which im sure barely any good guys die in them

Samurai 7. You can even play the "guess who" game with yourself while watching it, if you're not familiar with the original Kurosawa's movie.

Also, Wolf's Rain, Blassreiter.

Gantz.

But seriously the ending of the anime is horrible, just skip the last anime arc and start on the manga.

Just a question, doesn't knowing the fact that the good guy dies ruin the anime?

Not to all people, sometimes it excites the viewer because the thought of somebody important to the story dying stimulates the want to see it.

Yeah i know but just knowing the character is going die kinda ruins the excitement of when it actually happens.

But i guess Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni is really the only one i can recommend

So many great people died in this one.
Though I wouldn't really be able to label any character there as "good", unless we are talking good in the sense of being superbly well written.

Hellsing Ultimate has a lot of those too, though not all of them stay dead for very long.

Claymore also have a number of cases like this. Though I'd advise not to watch those terrible final episodes and just continue reading the manga from there on instead.

You will definitely not find any of this sort if you are watching strictly shounen animes but this sort of thing occurs in tons of animes.

Da Capo II Second Season
Fate/stay night
Ga-Rei -Zero-
Persona -trinity soul-
Rurouni Kenshin: Ishinshishi e no Requiem
Sengoku Basara

I second this, except I say to just skip the anime and start with the manga right away instead.

Virtually everyone dies there, good and bad. Easily 90 percent of the main cast, including females.

Well if you count the undead, then definitely Gungrave. It's an oldie, but it is the best videogame adaptation ever. Plus it's probably one of the top mafia anime as well.

What this person said exactly. I could not agree more. There are more good guys that die then you can shake a stick at...

Blue gender also kills off quite a few people during its course.
