Ever get suspicious looks when you enter a store?

What might be the source of this problem?

Just wanted to make a thread on this while the topic is still on my mind. Usually whenever I walk into store, for example, an American Eagle Outfitters, there is usually an employee that has an eagle's eye on me, watching me wherever I go. I can't seem to find peace while shopping, one time, I had an employee that followed me until I walked out of the store, it was downright rude. Not only that, I once went to the back of a Spencer's store, and some of the customers were creeped out wondering what I was gonna buy, I left quickly after that event.

There are more experiences, but I'll leave those aside, now, has this ever occurred to any of you guys? Share your experiences.

Out of curiosity, what ethnicity are you? I have noticed a lot of strange looks directed at those who don't fit the white/Caucasian sterotype.

Only at like, stores that sell stuff that usually don't interest people in my Age group.

Or if I decide to freak out a store that's open 24/7 I always wear a Mask/Hood or something, if that counts.

Just going to keep that classified, it should be obvious though.

No, but I am ignored when I enter a classy shop. They don't think I'll actually buy something.

Depends on country and how high class it is.

Anything up to the upper middle class joints, I get no looks at all. However at really high class places I do get stares due to my age, the fact I'm alone often, and the fact I look young.

Is this that really good one you were saving for later?

I like the other one more, it was more personal.

I came up with it on the spot, naturally it can't get on the level of the other one, years of elaboration behind the making of it. That one was way too good for its own time.

I know that feeling, they would think that you're just some peasant windowshopper, there was one cashier at a Ralph Lauren store that was surprised that I was going to buy something.

Not really, I've always found ethnical issues as something far from me and my sorroundings.

But, when I was arrested a cop said I looked drunk, funny thing is, I don't drink.
So maybe I've got some suspicious gazes but, due to my clothing and appearence, shaggy and laid-back.

I look like too much of a pretty white boy for anyone to suspect me of malicious intent.

...That's how I get away with it every time.

Friendly reminder, you should always have some money on you when you enter a store. It's extremely difficult to explain to security why you are in a store with no money. Likely to get you arrested if you're messing around.

Most of the time when I enter a shop with my basketball buds , they used to stare the shit out of us because we looked like a gang of thugs.

I dont get many stares now that I wear normal clothes.
All the classy shops seem to think I wont buy either, which is kind of true.

why is it weird for a 15 year old to have a credit card

No. But I always feel suspicious if I go into a supermarket and then don't buy anything. Why would anyone enter a supermarket and not buy anything?

Also one time the alarm thing went off even tho I didn't steal anything. They just checked my pockets but it still felt uncomfortable.

Rather, when I enter a bank, the security guard reacted faster than the clerks. I'm sure all banks will have triple S rank in security by now if I trained their guards.

When I go to the book store and search for some books alone, the casher comes to me and asks me If I'm looking for something. GTFO, I'm just looking for some books.

Only when I'm just woke up out of bed and wondering around with my flip flops, usually me going to nearby mall or grocery store would immediately triggers homing human drones or security turning on their walkie talkie informing their buddy two floors above to check on me from distance.
Feels like VIP, man.

This one time I was invited (representing my dad) to a book launch that is also attended by the president and the presidential escort wouldn't allowed me in just because I'm wearing torn up jeans and canvas sneakers.

All the time, my corpse like appearance must make people think im some kind of drug addict and im out to steal to pay for it. I get watched, I get followed and when I pay with my card they usually ask me all my details like my address because they don't trust that its mine.

More like an exasperated look as me and my squad wandered into a grocery store in full combat gear, with winter camo cloaks turned brown from a delightful mix of fuel fumes, gunpowder, snow, mud and assorted shrubbery.
In the end they only allowed one of us in to limit the spread of the biotope we were dragging with us.

This pretty much. That's why I refuse to touch my bag before the shop is out of sight because I think they'll suspect me of stealing...

I don't see why they should. I used to walk through Walmart and other stores cuz I didn't want to walk around the mall to get to the other end lol Actually when I did this I actually wanted to get called out or something to make them look like a fool for suspecting me.

As for topic: nobody will ever suspect an upright asian guy with glasses and headphones to be a thug. So nop.
