The first season sucks, but the Second Season and the Movie are amazing.

It doesn't have allure beyond the normal LN tropes.

No. He thinks what you like is shit.

That's how he creates worth for himself. By being better than others, and thus worthy of acceptance.

The art is pretty good, the music is pretty good, the story is ehh but is easily overshadowed by the well played "underdog" theme of the main character, and the characters are visually appealing(to most/many people). As for me, in addition to all I just said, the city setting is just one of my favorite types of settings.
It also gets much better as you keep watching it, especially when you start watching the side story, Toaru Majutsu no Railgun.

Railgun sucks. It's pandering and slice of life with no substance.

Season 1 of Index kinda sucked, but they fixed it with Season 2 when they got dat money.

The movie is visually one of the best looking anime products in existence, even the CGI looked amazing.

It's well rounded. It's not perfect, but the setting and characters are interesting, the story imo is great especially the writing. There's nothing in it that pulls you out of your suspended disbelief like a lot of animu does.

It all depends on what kind of anime you like to watch. I like cheesy payoffs where the characters do badass shit. This is definitely one of those series. I could watch 100 seasons of this show and never be bored. Shirai and Railgun are my favorite female characters. Index can be annoying at some points, but then watch something like Hidan no Aria its like night and day.

And there are tons of haters, its not like everyone loves it, outside of myself and a few others it almost never gets rec'd.

I like crappy Shounen like Bleach and Reborn, so I thought I'd like this one too. Nope, even I couldn't get into it. I've dealt with bad MCs too, Shinji, Yukki, Tsuna, and I thought this MC was even worse.

So I really dunno what's good about it either.

looking at your list, its kinda strange to me that you would like Fairy Tail, Suzumiya Haruhi anything, and Bakemonogatari, but not like Index.

It's one of the many poster children for "generic anime"

there's probably nothing good about it when weighed against series that are actually good

Ya idk I've just felt it's had a lot of hype for what it is. Does the second season really get that much better? I mean I can usually watch crap if I'm bored enough I'm pretty neutral on most stuff but this has just never grabbed me with the world. And the main character can be pretty generic

its starts off pretty fast, it gets really good with the Accelerator arc, but idk where you are getting that its hyped. This thread is a good indication of where its at, constantly being shit on.

People who read the LN's hate the anime, and people that hate everything "cool" hate this as well. surprised you haven't been flamed for liking Naruto. It does get better, but if i hadn't stumbled upon this accidently idk how i would have recieved it.

When you watch as much anime as i have, you're blessed by the gods to find something like Index that has 2 seasons and 2 spinoff seasons. You're probably not ready to appreciate it yet after watching all the big name titles and trying to find something comparable. This is a hidden gem

So i get the hype just from going around Sakura con, seeing funimation push it constantly, and just some other things ive seen online. I just felt like i was seeing every where for a point in time. Then i checked it out and was like ok where is the thing im missing?

As for my anime list its far from complete and liking naruto is strong way of putting it but hey we all have those animes that have nostalgia for all of us lol . In anime there is a ton of garbage so ya if railgun is a gem to you then thats all that really matters at the end of the day. Personal taste takes the price every time.

Idk just from what ive watched i felt it would be more in line with my taste but also i might not have given it enough time. Thats the nature of how it goes sometimes with anime. Hitting that stride

Probably because Touma isnt a bad MC.

He just doesnt shoot lasers or solve riddles.

He might not be bad, but he doesn't bring anything new, besides his power. I was burned out from Reborn when I watched it too so Tsuna being a PoS probably did it.

Too long to explain. Just watch Toaru Kagaku no Railgun and you'll learn quite quickly.

The first season sucks, but the Second Season and the Movie are amazing.
funnily enough, i think the opposite. i watched s2 as it was airing, and i think it was absolute poop.

Really? I somehow barely managed to finish the first season without dropping it. Railgun's side series was just awful. By "amazing" do you mean more like Railgun?

I don't get why the series is so popular either...

I loved both seasons... esp the 'final boss' type battles like with Accelerator and that alchemist guy. And the buildup to those battles were intense too, and to some extent, funny.

Loved the characters (and fanservice shots :3)

Railgun spinoff was meh, just couldnt get into it after having Touma as the MC.

Footnote - keep in mind that the lolicon teacher is one of the oldest female characters in the anime :)

Railgun spinoff wasn't anything special but its re-adaption of the Sisters Arc was by far superior to anything in Index I and II.

I thought both seasons were good, i liked the second season of Index better, but for different reasons. Mainly the story, it just started to get really interesting, all of the different threads came together,

that's the best part for me, the writing is so much better than you'd normally find in alot of shounen-esque anime. I didn't see one Deus ex Machina dropped in any of the series. I think alot of people have trouble with trying to identify it as a whole. They want to label everything. Index and Railgun have a little bit of everything in them from every genre.

Usually that wouldn't work out very well, but its so subtle and the pacing is quick enough that, for me, it made the entire show really enjoyable.

I just find it interesting that Touma win using wits and taking a chance rather than resorting to a new power in every last boss like STB or Campione's MC. He still competent even though his ability really limited.

Honestly after i read the LN, i have found that JC Staff didn't adapted it well, though.

I like Magic and Abnormal powers. And a character who will punch anyone and anything.
