I just wanted to ask if they're correct or not, cause I do think I registered in 2007, but I'm not sure it was October 1.

Did something happen on MAL that changed those registration dates, or they're still correct?

I don't see a reason for them not to be correct.

Mine is correct.

Why would it not be correct? It's not like when you join they assign a random date sometime that year to you.

Xinil can always change the registration dates and you won't even know he did that. Yeah, chances are all the registration dates around are fake.

What a good way to spend time on your mother's b-day.

Your profile says you joined on September 30th for me.

Hey man speak for yourself.

What was it? October 2? September 30?

Let me guess: time-zone differences...

Since I've forgotten the exact day I've joined, I don't know whether those joining dates are based on your set time zone or on the server location's time zone. Well, if it's the latter or a mix of both, this might be the reason for sudden changes in the date. Haven't paid enough attention to confirm it, though.

Psajdak,

The dates (join date, airing/publishing date, forum posting date, etc.) get interpreted according to what timezone you selected in your settings menu (which is likely UTC+1). When you're not logged in (like non-member visitors are), the server's timezone (Pacific time, UTC-8) is used.

If you had joined from any time within midnight to 9 a.m. (on your local timezone) on October 1, that date gets interpreted as September 30 to any visitor who is not logged in.

For example,

October 1, 3 a.m. (UTC+1)

is equivalent (time-wise, but not location-wise) to

September 30, 6 p.m. (UTC-8).

I hope that clarifies the simple, but often confusing math regarding timezones. ^^
Naysayers almost effortlessly make the possible seem impossible since they usually just parrot generalized, oversimplified, or uninspired arguments. However, the proper, but significantly more difficult way to refute an idea is to discredit all major and most minor cases. In contrast, a single convincing solution can prove feasibility though it isn't a trivial pursuit either.

I see September 11th for you. It's probably because of the timezone, it changes based on what you have it set to. I believe you're from the west and moved east for college right?

No I've stayed in the same timezone. I live in PA and moved to FL, and down in FL is where I made the account.

It doesn't matter. Timezone is set to America/Los_Angeles by default. So the moment you set correct timezone, the time you registered got added one hour
Btw, can someone confirm the registration date is not the date you activate account?
