Should you limit yourself from watching Anime base on your age? (time issues excluded)

As much as I hate it I do think so. Referring to myself here, I've only turned 14 couple of months ago, but I think I've already watched quite a bunch (I started watching seasonal Anime(s) around Fall 2013)

What?

You mean that if you watch them too fast you won't have anything left to watch when you're 16?

I don't understand this question. What does age have to do with this? Clarification would be cool, yo.

What do you mean?

Limit yourself because you should spend more time studying?

Limit yourself because you should spend more time socializing and enjoying youth?

Limit yourself so you don't run out of good shows?

Clarify your question x.x;

No. I will watch as much as I want to regardless of my age. Why the hell should I stop myself from doing anything I can enjoy?

Age doesn't have anything to do with it unless you're speaking as a parent. As long as it isn't intervening in your life significantly then there's no harm in how much you watch.

The fact that your asking that means you watch too much anime.

Watch less anime. Anime won't go anywhere but your youth will.

Go out meet people do what 14 year olds do nowadays. And just live life yo.

Watching anime = enjoying youth

Posting on MAL = socializing

Anime has been here before you entered this world and it will continue to be here long after you leave this world

Do you know which part of this equation is fleeting? Your youth, you only have one childhood, go live it, you can catch up on anime when you have a boring deskjob, a house, nagging wife and three kids

Hanging out with "friends" irl never lives up to what you see in anime. Own experience *shrug*

So if your friends aren't extraordinary, better keep watching anime.

I don't think age really matters, it's all about the personal time schedules/ things you have to do/ people in real life you need to keep in touch with at any age

even if you're young it's up to you how you manage your free time and what you do with it, so if you like watching anime then go ahead if that's your hobby, but of course if for example you have friends or relatives and certain responsibilities don't neglect them, leaving time for all the important stuff at any age needs to be in balance with your time for hobbies and interests, and if you chose anime/knitting/tennis/ whatever then go ahead and enjoy it while you can

I don't see anything wrong with spending large amounts of your time watching anime, as long as you're not doing it every day, non-stop. I don't think it's necessary to consciously limit the time you spend doing that, if you enjoy it and it's not having a tangible negative effect on your life. Just balance it out by going out and doing other things every now and then. That shouldn't be super hard.

Also, kill two birds with one stone by watching anime with your friends.

I don't get where the age thing comes into play. Everyone has different lives and different circumstances. Anime is just a form of entertainment, just like playing cawadoody.

No. If watching anime is what you enjoy then do it. Don't set on a limit on what you enjoy. Unless of course it is harming you.

When I was in high school and became an avid anime watcher (even now that I'm in college), I had a rule that I could only watch anime after completing ALL of my homework/studying, and an hour of exercise. I think that's what you mean? But yeah, you should be fine, as long as you're not getting bad grades or becoming completely unhealthy.

Well, anime is aimed for every age, so I don't see the problem.

Yep some people in this thread have very good advice. You only get to a be a teenager once for a very fleeting period of your life (in comparison to the rest of the years you will likely live. I'd say try to find a way to balance watching anime and being a normal teenager that does stuff with friends, goes to club activities, and stuff. I definitely would not prioritize anime over having a fun life as a teenager now that I can look back and evaluate my own teenage years.

I'd say that I wasted way too much time on reading books when I was a teenager (maybe you can compare it to watching anime for you, since they are essentially both forms of entertainment) and not enough time socializing and spending quality time with friends. Sure it helped me with my literary/writing/English skills and helped me get into college/grad, but it wasn't worth sacrificing so much time with friends though.

anime is just another medium of entertainment.

Others play CoD, you watch anime. Just do what you enjoy most in your free-time, theres nothing wrong with it. At least not if it doesnt become too one-sided...

As long as your grades are okay along with your health, watching anime in your spare time isn't a problem. When I was a teen, I loved sport & staying fit so I'd always hook up with pals during the week for a kick-about.

Regardless of age, dictating how you spend your spare time is entirely up to you. If your friends ask you to hang out, don't decline. If they're not inviting you out, kick back and watch some anime. Just keep mixing up your routine, it's as simple as that.

I guesstime should be spentinvested in both of these areas, but since building relationships is more permanent than Harem Art Online, I guess that'd need to be prioritized.

Age has nothing to do with anything. Sure, as you grow up you get busier and your priorities change, but you don't have to 'limit' your anime watching just because you're growing older. It's about time management; you can go to work/school, socialize with friends, go out and have fun as often as you can, etc. It's about what you do in your free time. And if you like watching anime as a past time, then why would you want to limit your anime watching?

Honestly, as everything else in life, I think it's all about balance.

Keep watching anime since it's something you enjoy but don't let it cut out from you all the other great and necessary things life has to offer.
Not only going out with friends and travelling and so but school and other important stuff. It's good to find something we truly love, but we must remember there are other things.
So go watch anime and go play with your friends too.

Try to find that balance and you'll be fine :)

I am 23 and still watch a decent amount of anime.

I have always lived by the idea "Do what makes you happy in life as much as possible. As long as you can maintain a healthy and regret free life doing so."

So as long as I am getting everything done I want done and working towards my goals my free time will be with as much of what I love as possible.

The older you get the more responsibilities you have and the more sacrifices you may have to make. However that doesn't mean you have to give up things just because of age alone.
