I'm look for a show that truly exceeds in dialogue and character interaction with good characterization . An example would be Steins;Gate. The dialogue in that show was very amusing, and it really excelled in both the comedic and the dramatic situations. I don't want overly melodramatic dialogue that you'd find in something like Clannad.

Also, it must have good voice acting, preferably in English, but it's fine if it's in Japanese.

The show can be witty like Baccano, or a sci-fi drama like Steins;Gate. Or a classic like Cowboy Bebop. I'm open atm. Give me what you got.

Also, even though this site is for anime, if you have any recs for any other form of medium (e.g. American TV shows, live action movies), then that'd also be great.

I personally don't enjoy it too much, but it is really popular so I'll suggest Bakemonogatari. The show is based purely on it's wit if nothing else. Some interesting female characters (yes it is a harem) and fun dialogue. I won't say why I dislike it as to try not put you off it because the show has clicked with many others.

Also Hyouka. This time the wit has more purpose and the character interactions are some of the best in anime. Given, it is a slice of life, so it depends on if you like that kind of show.

For the thought-provoking department, any show from the Ghost in the Shell series, especially the Stand Alone Complex seasons. It's also occasionally witty.

Time of Eve, one of my favourites, is probably the most thought provoking and witty of everything else I'm listing here. If you're gonna check out any one of these, I'd recommend Time of Eve at the very least. It's only 6 episodes long as well.

I'd also want to recommend Fireball. It's just a bunch of 1-2 minute shorts that are indeed very witty and keeps firing wit at a very fast pace. You'd be able to finish all the episodes in about 40 or so minutes and it's definitely worth checking out.

If you liked Baccano, you might like Durarara which has the same writer and is based in the same universe (as shown at the end of Baccano specials). I personally don't enjoy Durarara as much as Baccano, but it's still definitely worth a shot.

There aren't many Anime like that, since most of Anime nowadays are moe and harem OwO".

Hyouka - Recommended This isn't very much like Steins;gate ( Or Black Lagoon ) since it doesn't actually involve the dark side of life. I saw it in your plan to watch list, so I'm assuming you didn't watch this one.

Btooom! - This one too, I saw in your plan to watch list. I haven't actually seen the Anime so I cannot promise anything, but the Manga ( Which I have read ) is promising. This one involves killing and stuff, gets psychological at times but lacks a lot of humour.

Another - I guess this is kind of Steins;gate but instead of occult in place of science. I prefer Steins;gate over this Anime, but it has some definite characters and dialouges.

Darker Than Black - Recommended Since you liked Black Lagoon, you should give this a try. They might not be pretty similar, but they give off same vibes.

Manga

Kimi no Knife - - I wouldn't say this one has some excellent dialouges or humour. Though the monolouge of our main character and the characters are in a completely different league. The character development and characterization is well done. I think you should give this a try. Its certainly thought-provoking. Makes you think about humans and what is actually 'killing' ( You gave 10 to Battle Royale so you'll probably love this )

Bloody Monday - Involves terrorists and stuff. The characterization is depressing in the second and third season, but if you fare only till the end of first, it'll be a good ride.

Iris Zero - I was actually hesitant to recommend this since in your description you said that you don't want something like Clannad. I feel that you won't like this as much as others, but you should give it a shot. It was on hiatus for around one year and half but its back now. It is mystery genre on the bright side of life, but it gets dark at times.

Just some suggestions, since you gave 10 to Battle Royale, Cage of Eden is a pretty similar manga which you might like. It has a lot of fanservice which is not required ( atleast for me ) though. From your watch to read list, you can take up Yureka, even though the art is appaling.

Hakomari - Highly Recommended It is a light novel. If you do read novels, I highly recommend this to you. The first thirty pages are slow.. but the plot evolves to something that you wouldn't have ever imagined. Without any spoilers, this plot is quite dark and involves a few murders.

if you want rly provoking dialogues then watch this show

others that ahve awesome dialogues are
spice and wolf
katanagatari

but i think the 1 anime that impressed me most by just dialogues were bakemonogatari
i mean dialogues with senjoughara were well they are a pair its obv in this anime she is kinda tsundere
dialogues with hachkuji were always soo much fun
same goes for the vampire girl
and every character is unique
addionally it has many seasons
bakemonogatari> nekomonogatari> nisemonogatari > monogatari 2n season (was fucking epic) > next season will be aired this year and the movies comes also soon :P

I know. It sucks. Not to say I'm a moe hater (I loved most of Haruhi, and Clannad used to have a special place in my heart).
But Hyouka seems very...light moe ish. Or am I just being judgemental? I haven't watched it, so I really wouldn't know. What's the tone like?

Anyway, practically everyone rec'd Bakemonogatari, and I knew people were going to anyway. It looks interesting.

Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita

While it may not have the exact character interactions you are looking for. It is a very smart satire on humanity and the MC is just fantastic at wit and sarcasm.

Oto legenda jednego z nich…

katanagatari is from the same writer as monogatari kcp. so ofc its similar ^^. but they are different.
katanagatari has also short awesome fights and focuses more on the 2 mcs. while monogatari has 1 big chapter with every character well at least 1 big.
