Ep 118 The "last minute" part with knuckle was fantastic, really at the edge of my seat expecting him to die but nope. I think it takes away from the overall scene that he was saved with the shounen cliche as yoshi mentioned but I'm glad he's alive, I like knuckle. The part where he punches him and then runs cheering, I was like o/ you go man. I didn't expect Youpi to be so smart, thought he would be the brainless powerhouse but I am glad he's not. Hopefully Killua will be able to outsmart him a little and do some more damage to add to the interest. I feel like since Kullua is away from Gon, Gon is gona lose it and attack faster than he said he will. This is sure to have some very negative effects in the future that Killua left Gon when Gon is like that. Pouf makes a great escape, completely fooling Morel, I can't wait to see how that unfolds. I really hope that Palm contributes to something, even if she is dead. It would have been such a waste to kill her off without having her do something meaningful. I, myself, doubt that she is dead. |

Episode 118 I agree, I'm not too happy about using the last-minute cliché here, but in the end it didn't really diminish my enjoyment of the episode. The Ikalgo party were more exciting than I had thought and I'm really looking forward to Pouf and Morel and what they'll do for the rest of the invasion. |

Episode 119 Dragonballwho? https://twitter.com/takumitoxin/status/430304167836393473/photo/1 I like how IkalBro pulled some MacGyver shit and looks like we're finally getting back to the Morel/Pouf fight. |

ep 119 Godspeed looked awesome but it only lasted like what 5 seconds. Ikalgo part was okay but I wanted to see more of the other things that were going on. It was nice to see that contrast of an ant now unable to kill compared to the ants in the beginning of the arc that were massacring everyone. |

Episode 119 Even though I was hoping to see more of Killua IkalBro is always enjoyable. For being the 'comedic relief' part of this arc (I guess) his episodes are pretty exciting, plus he's such a bro. |

Episode 120 I liked how the parallels of "there never was a real one" was used as an opening for Knuckle and lol @ Pouf's one-man army of trolls. With the way things have been progressing, I think Bizef's thought process during his piggyback ride contributes to the loss of faith in humanity. "If I'm captured by the federation, they'll force me to confess for a cover story and throw me in prison for life or they'll execute me, so I can't talk" doesn't sound very different from the cruel behavior of the ants at the beginning of the arc and Bizef, himself, was already a lost cause to begin with in regard to his "personal assistants". Zeno ended up attacking an innocent bystander, which was accidental, but doesn't help the argument for humanity either and made him question himself enough to call it quits. Most importantly, you have Gon who is so far gone (lol) that he can only be portrayed with cold, lifeless eyes at the moment and by extension, Killua reverting back to his primal instincts against Youpi to release the stress of possibly losing his best friend. Conversely, the ant king has become humanized through his love of Komugi and the royal guards have followed suit through their love for the king. Not to mention, Meleoron was overflowing with tears when he wasn't able to help Shoot and IkalBro is too afraid to really go in for the kill. Some interesting stuff here, Togashi. |

Episode 121 They told me I could be anything, so I became a centaur. "I can no longer think of him as a target to destroy. He acknowledged our efforts. He wasn't a bad guy. In that case, I no longer have any reason to defeat him" Again, Togashi's done a nice job of leveling the playing field thus far. Looks like Knov doing just swell. |

ep 121 Jeeze, that character development in Youpi. I really like how Knuckle saved Morel, it was very real and made me almost cry. The juxtaposition between Knuckle's feelings and Knov's thoughts on the situation was very well done. Knov made me rofl, the way he looked when he entered but I am glad he still came back and did what little he could do, in this case pretty big saving Morel's life. Good to see Gon taking charge, making the guards his bitch. I just hope he doesn't do anything stupid like kill the girl or get one of his friends killed. Can't wait to see the fight with the King and Netero |

Episode 121 Youpi had great development here. I'm not a Knuckle fan. Now he has no reason to fight Youpi simply because he acknowledged their efforts? He isn't a bad guy because he can acknowledge someone? Lol, Knuckle is so soft. Knov still shaking in fear and lost his hair now, lol. At least he is still trying to contribute. He has a very useful ability after all. I wonder how many more transformations Youpi will get? |

episode 122 Finally we get to see all those episodes of playing board games pay off (not that I didn't enjoy them). Great development. The strongest only being able to be persuaded by words, unheard of in shounen. That was perfect, how it was done. I like how things have changed so drastically. I find myself able to sympathize with the king and against Netero. Not only that, but the other guards have changed so much, just from an encounter or a fight. Togashi and his villains. This is some quality writing. Also I dont remember if it was last week or the week before, but Brian hinted this at me and I went back to figure it out but they gave some very big hints as to where our princess is at. Can't wait for that to be made clear to the rest of the characters. If you are confused as to what i'm talking about, its probably for the best. |

Episode 122 I can't wait to see the King go hard. I can't figure out how he is going to be defeated to be honest. He seems ridiculously strong. Was not a big fan of Netero's comment about the King wavering between being human and ant. He said they aren't compatible? What is up with that? They are literally working with Ants that have no problems with the balancing act. The King sounds like he has it down pretty good to me. People who are strong should use their strength to protect the weak. I can understand still having to defeat the King, but using his ant and human = no compatibility makes him sound speciesist (is that a word? :P). Anyway, great episode. So much tension and build-up. I really love the King's character in this show. It almost makes me want him to win, or at least find peace before his ultimate demise. I wish he'd defeat Netero for sure. |

The cooperation we've been seeing is merely the exception to the rule. In the grand scheme of things, the attitude of the person who hired Netero represents the majority and most of human society won't see the ants as anything more than dangerous creatures that need to be eradicated. Despite how humane they may actually be, they don't look any different from the insect that landed on the window glass. Netero, himself, is also wavering: "I must make this fast...before my heart is swayed" and he had already gained a respect for the King's love for life back in 112. So, I wouldn't say he's a speciesist, but rather, a realist. As someone born a century before this "damned newborn brat", he has the wisdom to recognize that the naivety of the King's idealism will never see the light of day. There's also the possibility that if Komugi (the reason for his newfound humanity) were to actually die this time, the "dangerous creature" inside the King may resurface and take full control. On another note, forcing your opponent to admit his surrender is a callback to the exam arc. |

Yeah, I hear ya. I triggered on Netero's comments and held them against him. Its one of those situations that the enemy needs to be defeated, but if things were a little different here and there, it could possibly be worked out more peaceful. Like you said, Netero definitely felt some compassion/understanding toward the King (to an extent), and felt a slight waiver. I don't know, I just have a problem with the eradication because society is scared and can only see them a certain way. I'm not disagreeing with defeating the King, but defeating him because an ant can't develop "humanity" is crossing into the bs zone. Not for the series itself, but for the characters who feel that way. I really hope they don't take this into mass extermination of all the ants. It should be very interesting how this all plays out. |

As I see it there's nothing wrong with Netero's comment about their incompatability. The king needs to decide on one of his 'species' sooner or later because they contradict each other. The human side wants to protect and lead while the ant side wants to conquer and submit everyone and 'select' the ones worthy of living. The two ants working with the humans have just chosen the human side of their heritage, while the rest is either wavering or focusing on their ant side. Trying to have them both surface at the same time is just a contradiction and that's what the king tries to do. Nothing speciest about pointing out a logical fallacy, imo. |

Episode 126 Holy shit!! Crazy episode. Netero was packing a sacrificial nuke! Netero was no match for Meruem nen v. nen, as I suspected. I wondered how in the hell they were going to defeat the King. Episode 126 Not sure if it's actually foreshadowing, but it feels worth noting. Back in 118, when Knuckle thought he was going to die at the hands of Youpi, the rose appeared. Then, there's how the fight begins with "This is an area used for testing weapons for war" and Knov returns to say "I received a message from the chairman's messenger. As planned, he was able to take the King to the appointed location." Other than that, this was one of the most well animated episodes of the series with nice, artsy shots (stand outs being the middle finger and Netero's creepy smile at the end) and the same great BGM from last week. Not to mention, the irony that humans may have more malicious intent than a so-called monster. This is what happens when Netero uses his right hand and left foot lol. |

Episode 127 This episode was very well done as well in showing how Gon changed and the despair of the Royal Guard. I'm wondering what the timeline of Gon/Pitou leaving for Peijing is though. If the King died after they left and Pitou realizes is she has no reason to care for Komugi anymore which would make her useless as a hostage and put Gon in immediate danger. Not to mention the chances of them making her heal Kite would go practically down to zero. |

Episdoe 127 More foreshadowing of the Miniature Rose could come from Knov reading The Secret Garden back in episode 101. And in that very same episode, Gon tells Meleobro "I won't have to show you any mercy, because then I'd be free to destroy you" and now, Gon is threatening to kill Komugi. @Higashi: It's important to note that Pouf and Youpi were actually in viewing range of the Miniature Rose and thus, close enough to feel the vibration of the explosion, while Pitou was in the dark about it. You can also argue that Pitou has somewhat of a one-track mind right now, due to being overwhelmed by Gon's threatening presence. |

Episode 130 Wow, Pouf is a conniving bastard. I could see him being killed by Meruem in the end. I wonder if Pitou can actually heal Kite and is just saying he is dead because he thinks Komugi is safe. Also liked the piano track they used for the Kaito memories. Of course the real question we can gleam from this is "Why did Pitou have a phone in the first place?" And how often did he ring Pouf for him to have Pitou's number memorised? It just sort of builds from there; Do they send each other Snapchats? Does Pitou play candy crush while on guard duty? Anyway, next week gon be good. |

Episode 131 Dat transformation OST. "I finally get to be the same as Kite was then." 46 episodes ago, it's been a ride. "He's forced his body to mature to a point at which he's able to defeat me." While Gon's transformation can be seen as an asspull (I don't feel this way, just playing Devil's Advocate), it works perfectly fine within the Nen logic of Vows and Limitations and knowing Gon's reckless nature, he was predetermined to foolishly follow in the footsteps of Kurapika. Also, this works wonderfully thematically to demonstrate the loss of innocence in full effect. The Chimera Ant arc has forced Gon to become adult, figuratively and now, he literally forces himself to become an adult. This is taken further through how Gon is still wearing a teenager's clothes and how he doesn't exactly sound like a "man", but a kid in an adult's body. https://twitter.com/RYUUSEIBLADEV2/status/471698794837311488 |

Episode 131 Fucking epic episode!!! Gon's transformation sequence was amazing. He was nothing short of savagely brutal while finishing off Pitou. I wonder how this is going to change his character from here on out. The episode was greatness, but I still have no idea how they are going to be able to finish off the King. Maybe since the King is now bonded to Youpi and Pouf, all they will have to do is finish off the royal guard to defeat Meruem. Can't wait! I agree brian, no way I see this as an asspull. This didn't come out of nowhere. Gon has been building this up from the point Kite was taken/killed. He sacrificed to get to this point using the anime's logic and "law of the land" that has been established from the beginning of the show. |

Episode 132 "Revenge and duty…" Once upon a time, Meleobro upheld his duty to fulfill his mission when Shoot was on the verge of death and Knuckle let his emotions get the best of him. And now, we have a role reversal where Meleobro is letting his emotions get the best of him and Knuckle is the level-headed one. Loved the perspective of when Meleobro's body dropped. "Would you be willing to engage in a contest with us?" This takes us back to the games with Komugi. If you win, you can have whatever you desire. But if Meruem wins, your worst fears will come true. Also, the purple shots did a nice job capturing their fearfulness. Gon may have reverted back to his normal self, but I'm sure there will be repercussions, on top of already losing his right arm. Yay! Ikalbro rescues Palm from her paranoid train of thought. Man, dat closeup on Ikalbro's eyes. |

Episode 133 That flashback was extremely bromantic. Around 3 1/2 minutes into the previous episode, you see Youpi coughing. Scared Pouf is Best Pouf. As we get closer to the end game, this show's statement on humanity only becomes more blatant. Netero lures the King into the false sense of security that they will be having a fair fight, only to reveal that he had the upper hand all along with a nuclear bomb at his disposal. Gon selfishly carries out his revenge while Pitou lives his last moments selflessly, simply happy to know the King will be safe from Gon's wrath. Then, Ikalbro and Palm treat Komugi as if she is an object and openly admit "What we're doing is cruel. We are no different from them. No...we are far worse!" |

Episodes 130-131 Okay I don't even know where to start. Episode 131 was one of the most intense anime episodes I've ever seen and the only thing that could ruin it if they brush off the consequences for Gon's lifespan and/or ability to use Nen (they did say he might never be able to sue it again). But damn, losing his right arm is already tough and I doubt it is gonna end like in Toriko here. The visuals and OST were fantastic throughout the episode too. Not really much to add about how epic it was. As for the coughs, I know it's easy to say that now but shortly after it was revealed the king survived the explosion (with the additional hint of someone once mentioning that the arc ended kinda anticlimatic) I thought it might end up being about radiation poisoning and the king not living much longer anyway. The last 2 episodes with the coughing and Palm saying the King will die while we see images of the explosion confirm that suspicion. I think it's a good ending though, just goes to show that the chairman's plan was REALLY foolproof and he didn't die in vain underestimating his enemy. Also loving brian's analysis of the Knuckle/Meleoron role reversal, Gon's transformation and the show's take on humanity. Not much to add except +1. It have been two hours of gloriousness. |
