When news about a 3rd season broke I was extremely ecstatic. Then I read this and my heart just broke into tiny little pieces. If the movie doesn't use 'Canon' material I will flip. Now instead of just waiting some months for a series to air we will have to wait the months till it airs then wait another 5-9 months for the DVD/BD to be released and then another week/month for it to get picked up by a subbing group. So much disappointment. But I will endure since we will still be getting something animated from Sora no Otoshimono. |

symbv said: According to the official website of anime "Sora no Otoshimono", the previously announced 3rd season of the TV series has now been replaced with a second movie due for release in 2014. It will have new story and will be made with the same staff as the TV series. The news of the movie is also reported by the jacket wraparound for the newly released vol.18 of the manga. Source: Official anime website, wrap of manga vol.18 via IEEE Ah but will it be a reboot or a continuation from the other movie, I'm hoping for the latter, Negima?! was a bad decision, let's hope it doesn't happen again |

I thought the first movie was pretty bad, considering the first thirty minutes was like a sappy recap. Hopefully they'll do a better job with this one, although I am dissapointed its not going to be a third season. At least I have more time to catch up on the manga. |

The manga of Heavens lost property goes through this whole arc of nothing but twists and is now at a very sad part surrounded by death so a series of it would be completely differently toned to the first and second ones |

I can roll with this if the first half of the movie won't be a "previously on" from another characters point of view like the first movie did. Give us new and exciting developments please :) |

Forget the Anime. I just want more Manga chapters. I mean the current development is really big, nice and interresting to read. I thought at first this might be a really nice year for Sora because of a new season and movie. A movie only? I don't even think that the movie would fit much. Like you may know this Manga/Anime has some funny moments and then suddenly it goes dark and it continues the story. I, formyself find it hard to see that being made in a movie format. Okay, the beginning might be light, happy fun stuff and goes dark. But then goes dark or will they want to mix it? Also the other thing, they say "new material". Is it new as Anime format or new in general speaking, also unknown from the Manga? |

They promise a new season and now give us a movie, cutting the content by like 3 hours? Disappointment. |

So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old? I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them? I wonder how long people would put up with this. As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series. |

Simply because I don't blindly enjoy everything Japan make/choose like an intense religious believer doesn't mean that I shouldn't be here. Announcing a third season then suddenly switching it for a movie is a very bad choice. It's shameful and irresponsible for a company not to deliver what they advertised. |

You're reading far too much in what I've said. I do not think that the past was better, I actually believe that your average anime is much better now than it was in the past. By 'The anime industry is fucking up more and more these last few years in my opinion' I meant something much different than what you understood. I believe that the anime industry is not being enough diversified. That's not a marketing problem in itself since it's trying to attract to the target audience (which passively change a bit every year) but I cannot agree with it. I'd like to see something different instead of another high-school comedy that feature an introverted main character that suddenly get popular with his surrounding aka every possible archetype characters. (Huge generalization, I know not every show are like that) Don't get me wrong, I'll be enjoying that show but I feel like the anime industry could be much more than that. Therefore whenever I see that another unoriginal and generic LN/Manga is getting animated, I can only think that they could have choose something a bit different. The reason why I enjoy Urobuchi's work is because he's bringing a bit of diversity in the anime industry (not between his own work but compared to other's work). Same for SHAFT's shows a few years ago. It doesn't even matter if the artistic style suited me or not or if I found the idea interesting or not. I liked how fresh it felt. When you're giving people exactly what they want, you're limiting the world. |

Shangetsu said: Still you are saying it as if the trend has been going to a negative direction, and by definition this would indicate the past is better. But that is not really true. Was the anime in the past that diversified? It just focused on something different from what is being focused now. And if anything, arguably the anime has "diversified" into adapting light novels which was much rarer 10 years ago. And if you want to complain about lack of diversity in those anime, then you might as well complain about the lack of diversity in light novel and manga, but then the fact remains that the kind of LN/manga that gets adapted is a rather small subset of what are out there and one likely explanation is that the market shows that not all kinds of LN/manga adapt well in anime, at least in terms of how commercially successful for the anime. So there you are, it is way too simplistic to just call it "fucked up more and more" without sparing deeper thought of the current situation and possible reason why there are valid factors that gave rise to the current situation. Shangetsu said: It is easy to advocate more risk-taking when you are not paying for the risk. It is great that the industry finds Urobuchi who clearly adapts well into the industry and fans love his approach and creativity. But have you ever thought that why there is no more risk-taking (but don't forget there is quite a bit of risk-taking because of the number of original anime coming out every cour) ? Because it is natural to want to manage risk by not being too aggressive, particularly given the market and the industry itself is not that big compared to the mainstream equivalent. Besides, we do see more anime series these days, so even when there are more anime being adaptation, it does not necessarily mean that we have fewer original anime now. When you're giving people exactly what they want, you're limiting the world. |

I think you should add that they're bringing back the staff from season 1 for this new movie to the main post. Well I am a bit disappointed that it was turned to a movie release than a third series primarily because a third series would have had a lot more material to show than a movie. Still i am not so disappointed as other people are here primarily because the way i see it we still get something new to come. To tell you the truth i am more relieved we still are getting something because of the long wait. i was starting to make me think that the series might have been cancelled and they could have but instead they are still offering something for us to see. I just hope that once they make it they wont waste a lot of time on doing another recap that was the main problem in the first movie and 2 that the movie ill do well enough that they would make an actual third season after it |
