OK, random question, but I HAVE to know.... Why does every soccer game trot out kids with the players at the start of the game? I just don't get it. |

This is what I dislike of Japan. They're so damn inconsistent. When they play well, they're damn near unstoppable. But when they're not playing well, you saw the match against Brazil. If they played like how they played against Italy, I actually wouldn't put it past them to have won the damn thing. Exactly why they lost out in the World Cup, they let Paraguay do whatever they wanted. Hell, they're lucky because if it wasn't for Kawashima, they wouldn't have won the Asian Cup either. Goddam, I hope they fix that part in time for next year. |

^I totally agree there. Though I noticed so many improvements in their team since the last time I watched (and cheered for) them, that is to say 3 years ago in South Africa. I believe this is mostly thanks to some amazing, just discovered talents, such as Kagawa or Okazaki, but mostly, I believe it's thanks to Zaccheroni. They are all very young, too. This means that if things stay as they are (Zaccheroni keeps his place & nobody else gets badly injured) they will be able to improve A LOT and become a kinda serious threat for any national team in the world... And for god's sake, they need a brand new defensive team! lol |

Ah man what a brilliant game, I found myself supporting Japan. They really deserved at least a draw but Italy did well to come back. Kawaga and Honda were awesome, can you believe that Honda will be available for free this summer, someone should defiantly get, he would be a starter on a good champions league team, maybe Dortmund can get him to replace Gotze. |

It's a charity organization that puts this together. It's very often given to disabled kids or children with special needs. Sometimes it's just a lucky draw that kids can enter. Imagine accompanying your soccer idol onto the field holding his hand before a big game. Must mean the world to most kids. |

Damn Honda in Borussia would be awesome, but even more awesome if he played in the Premier League. I really hope a good team gets him, I don't think he's any inferior to Kagawa or Nagatomo who play in much more regarded teams than CSKA. |

I understand what you're saying, but what team can utilise him properly at the moment? Obviously, Dortmund could use him to fill up Gotze's shoes, but they might need to look for a forward instead, because there are rumors that Lewandowski may be leaving. Same thing that's happening to Kagawa will happen if he goes to Man U or Chelsea. Man City are not interested in him, but Tottenham could look towards him if Bale chooses to leave for Madrid. And the current Liverpool is really improving. I don't think we'll be easy to beat next season, what with Coutinho, Sturridge, (perhaps) Mignolet, (perhaps) Suarez and Borini has shined in the U21 Euro Cup as well. |

So I haven't posted anything on the Confederations cup yet, I think. But this cup has been somewhat boring, in the sense that the expected things have happened, Brazil dominating - although they are making a few mistakes by taking the foot off the pedal here and there. Neymar is living up to the expectations, which is nice and not something everyone is doing, like Balotelli. Although I still like Balo. Japan is the only team where I though: "Damn, I didn't know they were this good". They brought Italy to their knees and almost defeated them, I have yet to check up on the game against Mexico. But players like Honda have genuinely been a pleasant surprise, like some of you are saying, he should really move to a club in either the premier league or the Bundesliga. Liverpool would be fantastic. As for the whole replacement of Götze, you have seen him make a short appearance, although I didn't see a lot. Borrusia is interested in Bernard, pretty good player from what I saw - same type of players as Neymar, he can play on the wing if he has to. And then you have Eriksen. Not too sure if Lewandowski will leave Borussia this season, he won't leave to Bayern (this has been made official). And United don't really need a striker now, do they? Also wondering what is going to happen to Higuain, reports and articles are popping up of a confirmed deal with Arsenal, that would be amazing. Although I never saw Higuain on the level of Real, he might be a good striker for Arsenal, since Giroud isn't really scoring that many and Podolski is.. ...well Podolski, rather unsuccessful in club football. Lastly, Nabi's avatar is a bit disappointing this Confederation's cup. |

I honestly don't follow soccer that much, but all I know is that Spain is a pretty big favorite. I was in Madrid for the 2010 cup and let me just say that it was an amazing atmosphere. I know Spain also sort of 3 peated or at least has a chance to...can anyone fill me in on what the realistic look is for the upcoming cup? |

United might need a striker, Welbeck is...you know, Welbeck, can't score even with the keeper's hand tied, Chicarito MIGHT be leaving, due to lack of playing time, Rooney also might leave... I don't understand people's sentiment about Giroud... 13 goals and 7 assists for a 13 mil striker on his first season is more than good, sure he has the occasional miss in front of goal, but Giroud has been really succesful last season for a striker that just moved to another team, Poldi has also benn succesful last season, 15 goals and 10 assist for a winger is well...majestic |

Since it is a given that they are dominating. Hmm, Welbeck hasn't played that often due to Rooney still being in the starting line-up, I think he adds the blistering pace both Rooney and RVP are starting to lack. He is young as well. Chicarito is probably not giong to leave, as good as he is, I really don't see a lot of teams which are on the same (or a bit lower) level which need a striker, maybe Liverpool would like him. I think the whole Rooney business is not going to happen, he said the same thing in 2010(?). I didn't know Giroud scored that many.. I am pretty sure that is cups and CL included, he just hasn't been the replacement. Podolski is more of a forward than winger, he might have played left wing a few times, but there are better players for that position (Ox, Ramsey). |

Welbeck hasn't played that often because he's crap, can't dribble, can't score...and Rapist Van P***y main forte isn't pace, it's technique, and Chicharito...what does that guy have to do to get to that starting lineup...I think a lot of top teams could go for Chicarito's signature, Juve could possibly go after him, since Giovinco has been a flop and that 30 year old striker ( i forgot his name, i think he played in AS Roma before playing in Juve) is terribly inconsistent, Dortmund is also in need of a striker, and last i heard is that R.Madrid is also after him There's a high chance(to me) that Rooney is leaving this summer, because his manager now is David Moyes, and we all know there's plenty of bad blood between him and Moyes during their Everton days...and besides, i think that Sir Alex benched him during the second half of last season for a good reason. Yes, it's cups and CL included, and you need to remember something, Van P***y has been injured for 7 seasons before finally coming out good in his 8th season...and i admit, that Giroud's no Henry, but let's get real, who can replace monsieur va-va-voom? give him time, he will come good during his second season Ox has been terrible last season, are we watching the same Chamberlain here...? and Ramsey has finally found his position in the center midfield role, and i must say, he really impressed me there. And Podolski played more in the left wing position than the forward last season(like in Germany NT) |

We should buy one to cover for Kolo and Agger or at least get Skrtel back in form, then we're good. Mwahaha, I've been wanting Spain to lose a big game ever since they won the 2010 World Cup. Maybe now that they've lost with such a considerable score (and Piquet expelled - not so much of a hot shot now are ya?) the media will stop treating them like unstoppable gods of victory. |

Firstly, I agree with Spyro on his last comment. The combination of the great attacking football and its players that Scolari gathered and the almost infinite number of supporters that Brazil has in its own country will surely make Brazil a main contender. I don't think I need to explain why Germany is a favourite for the title. Although Spain seems to be beaten at a point where the players are at the peak of their career, don't forget that they had to play a game 3 days ago + ET and penalties, 5 hours of travel to Rio and that Brazil had their semi final 4 days ago and had 1 hour of travel. So the circumstances did favour Brazil. Nonetheless, Brazil was absolutely amazing this night, attacking football at its finest. |

But this... there is just so much wrong with this. Why was the referee carrying a knife? Why did the player get so aggressive in the first place? I guess the citizens of Brazil don't put too much trust in their justice system if they feel they are in the right to take his fate in their own hands. |

I'd be gutted if England weren't in it, its nice seeing them play (sometimes). I think Brazil will have to be the favourites now after the confeds cup with Spain coming in second (although I think they'd put up more of a fight if they faced Brazil once more, imo Spain would still be the team to beat if Brazil weren't hosting) |

Honestly, I don't think that incident had too much to do with soccer. It's far from being evidence that soccer fans in Brazil are crazy and can't be trusted. The ref stabbed someone because that person "struck" him, which many crazies have done before. It wasn't because the player or anyone else was criticizing his calls. That overreaction had little to do with the sport. The fans beheaded the ref out of revenge for someone they admire, as many crazies have done before. It wasn't because the ref made a bad call or because the one who died was a good player. That overreaction also had little to do with the sport. It strikes me more as something that could happen in any tense atmosphere. Edit: 90% of the comments on that article are either idiotic, racist, or both. |

Maybe I'll catch some hate for this, but I really don't care. A big event like the World Cup and the Olympics should NEVER have been in Brazil to begin with. I don't care how crazy they are for soccer, they have real deep societal problems and an income inequality that makes the U.S look fair by comparison. Poverty is still a very big problem, and you expect thousands upon thousands of tourists to go into Rio, Sao Paulo, etc. where people are fed up with the government and you think this will be "safe"? FIFA and the IOC fucked up. They automatically expect that any nation/city that receives this big event will be happy and everything will go according to plan.....WRONG! It will be very interesting to see if Brazilians are still protesting next summer. IMO, they have a righteous cause and if I lived in Brazil I would also care more about my daily life than a silly sports competition. |

Although whenever it comes to matches outside of the Eredivisie, I do somewhat support whichever Dutch club is playing. Mainly because we haven't played in the Europa League for about 5 years now. |
