Do you like dark, serious, and mature anime?

Notice the emphasis on DARK.

I don't mean "mature" as in showing naked girls or making a shit-ton of sex jokes. That's more on the lines of "inappropriate."

I mean mature anime as in those with deep, non-comical plots, which usually go with "serious" anime. So mature anime are usually serious anyway.

And "dark" means something that's messed-up like gore and blood. "Dark" could also mean a messed-up story too; a traumatic or psychological story. Again, notice the emphasis on DARK.

If you like mature anime only, and not specifically dark and mature anime, vote no.

See, there is this fascination with something called "guro" in the manga/anime world. I assume that stems from people wanting to see unimaginable things. Maybe these unimaginable things are more shocking and entertaining than seeing mundane things like a bunch of highschool kids talking about their next club meeting or a bunch of kids with special powers shooting lighting balls.

Anyway, I'm just trying to get the demographics for dark, mature anime lovers because I've seen WAY TOO MANY comical and/or corny anime. If I am correct, around 80% of you would hate mature anime, and 20% would like it. That makes me, and my fellow dark anime lovers, a minority. We'll see...

EDIT: apparently, the data's the inverse of what I expected. This does not correlate with the HUGE amount of comical and/or corny anime in existence right now. There are 3 reasons for this inconsistency:

1) The voters are screwing with the statistics because they want to screw up my prediction.

2) The voters here are the ones freeloading off of anime and not actually paying.

3) The voters here are telling the truth AND they're paying for the anime. But, anime creators don't give a single crap, because they release what they want.

Pretty much everyone, and especially anyone who wants to come off as intelligent.

The thing is, there is no reason I can not like those AND the comedy anime you are talking about.

I’m just excited to see my Lord and Savior, Baphomet, represented in such glorious Italian stone. I do hope his eyes gaze upon me and that my allegiance is recognized.

Note that I mentioned the word "dark" as well. An anime can be mature and not dark. For example, an anime that wants to reasonably dissect the topic of same-sex love. It could be mature by conveying the love for the same-sex individuals, but in a sense, it's not dark because there is no psychological trauma or violence or anything. It's just philosophical reasoning. You could call this "deep," but not "dark."

Yea, that is true. You cant deny that a lot of people preach this type of anime as a more intelligent form for viewing, though. Well, you could, but people do do it /shrug.

If we're going to bring up manga, Oyasumi Punpun is extremely mature and pitch black in how dark it is, not to mention that it is filled with black humor, and it is void of any violence.

You know there is a difference between bloody anime and mature anime not all gore is made for adults and inversely not all of these so called "corny" animes are made for kids animes like usagi drop and eden of the east which are both very good are made for older females not for children and animes like rainbow and phantom requiem for the phantom are both made for older males and are both also very good but none of these are the epidemy of gore the elfen lieds or the anothers out there. A mature plot what I'm trying to say doesn't have to be dark are bloody and just because an anime doesn't fall into that category by no means makes it "corny"

Maybe...but I pay for my shit, or is watching on those ad-filled sites not paying? I guess it's not...

Even if you pay, I doubt that'll change much. I'm pretty sure anime creators only care if money is paid in yen. Any other currency is just ignored.

I'm guessing the people who go here are commensalistic anime watchers; those who just consume any anime that's shitted out, while the ones doing the shitting (the producers)...don't give a shit what gets shitted out. Haha. If you find good stuff, good for you. If not, oh well.

I will answer the Social part. The so called Dark, Mature, Serious is everywhere. They just tended to ended up in the Late Night Timeslot. Comparing, to early mourning shows, they are less rated. Although there are exceptions. You just need to pay more attention.
