Well, spring training is just a few days away so it looks like baseball season's going to be back soon.

What are you looking forward to this year? Hopefully the Mariners will begin their winning ways once more. Who do you think will take it all this year?

Anyone watching Caribbean Series like I am? XD

Rays baby! Not super into baseball, but I'll definitely be following these guys.

Still sad that Shields left, since he was my fav player from team, but I'm really curious as to how their new acquisitions will pan out. Playoffs this year hopefully too.

Looks like we have another Gunblade in the making. This guy is a Patriot and Yankees fan. And he's from Ohio.

I'm looking forward to the Rays getting back on top of the East. 47-27 with Longoria last year. He's back 100% healthy. Losing Shields will hurt but we will forget about it when they call up Myers and Chris Archer. I've also been waiting for Hak-Ju Lee to be called up for a while although they now finally have a SS in Escobar. Oh and no more BJ Upton!!! Finallyyyyy.

The biggest problem is they like to hire big names who are already over the hill. They haven't learned since they lost to Marlins in 2003.

Hoping the Tigers will win those last 4 games this year and be world series champs! They did a big step today in signing Scherzer to a 1 year 6.75 mil deal and keeping our great rotation together. With V-Mart coming back and the addition of Torii Hunter, I'm pumped for the season to start!

Go Brew Crew!!

Their payroll went down this year, just hope to see progress in the young starting rotation (Peralta, Fiers, Rogers, Estrada). Really need Yovani Gallardo to take the next step as an ace.

Just get him off the team. It would give me less reasons to hate the Yankees.

Kershaw/Verlander will both likely get 200 million eventually. The Felix contract as you know is on hold because of possible elbow concerns. He will take his physical tomorrow and if he passes, he's more likely to get the guaranteed money.

Price I'm sorry to say won't be a Ray for life.

Felix's contract is finalized.

And there is no way Price is staying in TB much longer. With the prices for top pitching now I wouldn't be surprised to see them deal him in the future like they did with Shields.

Good thing the farm is stacked. Although It seems like they currently have a bunch of good #2 guys. They'll get a kings ransom for Price though considering what they potentially got for Shields who is a great pitcher but not even close to the level of Price.

Yeah people will be willing to give up much more for Price. The Shields deal was completely foolish from KC and they just sold their future for mediocrity in the present. Maybe they'll finish .500.

KC in my eyes is an above .500 team. They just need reliable pitching and to hit more long balls.

They gave up too much for Shields to maybe be above .500. They need to be a playoff team or it was a waste. Wade Davis isn't really rotation material. They better pray all those young guys finally start hitting.

They have an extremely young core though offensively, especially with Moustakas, Butler, Hosmer, Perez, and Gordon amongst the potential All-Stars and aside from Detroit, I'm not sure if Cleveland really got better with Bourn/Swisher.

Davis is pretty good on the mound in my eyes but not perfect. If teams though, can find ways around the Royals pitching though, it will be a long year. It's just like the case with my Mariners, we have the pitching just not the offense yet, if teams find ways to put us out, we're in for a long year, all pitch and no hit.

You have a specific team you like?

We don't have a team here but I have family in Tampa and I lived there after the hurricane. Been a Rays fan since 2000 or so. Sadly the only games I get outside of Espn are Astros games. So I have to read a lot.

Wise decision. Devil Rays had the coolest uniforms when they were bad, ain't gonna lie. But their current ones also Top 5.

New Orleans is primarily Astro country? Interesting, always thought the Braves ruled the South.

Not really. But the only games I get are on Fox Sports Southwest which is the Astros and rarely the Rangers channel. And it's now the dedicated Hornets channel so I might not see any :(.

KC isn't winning the division any time soon with the Tigers owning it, but I do really think they're potentially the second best team. The only problem is they won't get the wild card either, so in the end selling their farm for Shields and Davis may not have been the best move. I get they want to show the fans they want to win, but I'm not sure they should have given up Myers.

Oh man with Spring Training games coming up soon I can't help but feel excited for the baseball season to start.

Not to derail this topic but I just bought that on XBL. It was 50% off. I have 2k11 and man the my player is very different compared to how 11 was. Still good but not as good as The Show.

I haven't played a more recent NBA game than NBA 2k11, so I'm curious to see if they made any changes to the my player. It's a lot of fun, but it still needs some work imo.

Alright back on topic! Tigers played their first spring training game today. Pitching looked pretty good (though then again no one could hit), and it seems like two guys stood out: Collins (OF prospect) and Kobernus (possible candidate for final roster spot). Both guys are speedy and hit back to back triples to give the Tigs the eventual win. Porcello pitched around 92-94 mph, which is definitely a plus for him since he pitches his best when his fastball is around that speed with some sink.

More games tomorrow. Who's ready?!

I didn't watch any baseball last year because the Blue Jays sucked and I just decided to stop, but with all the stuff they did in the offseason I'll definitely be tuning in this year. Dickey, Buehrle, and Johnson will definitely stiffen the rotation and Reyes and Cabrera will be studs. Can't wait for the season to start.

Taijuan Walker is such a fucking BEAST! Dude is going to be a 20 game winner when the offense starts to click for the M's.

Oh man when the Big 3 come to join the King's Court, watch the fuck out Rangers/Angels/A's.

The Jays are really a hit-or-miss team in my eyes, it all depends on their rotation and if Dickey can repeat, Johnson/Romero can stay healthy, and if Buerhle can remain consistent as he's been. I think the AL East can be anyone's game if teams perform in unexpected ways.

The Jays right now are kinda like how the Lakers are right now: a lot of stars, some past their prime, who lack chemistry with each other. Only difference is instead of being super old, they just are almost all health risks. The Yankees lost a lot of power (literally), I'm not sure how much I believe in the Orioles, and the Red Sox are lol, so it really could be anyone's division like Slate said as long as they figure things out.

Prepare for possibly 80 homeruns and about 400 Ks. I hate BJ Upton with a passion though so I may just be negative. He was such a waste of talent and potential. Watch him live up to it next to his brother. Hell you could have 120 HRs and 600ks between the Uptons, Heyward and Uggla. They combined for 610 last year lol.

Hahaha I was thinking the same thing. Those guys are all free swingers, so I can see people getting pissed at their timely strikeouts more than getting excited from their home runs. But hey maybe Braves management can teach the Uptons a little more plate discipline.

Of course. Going to root for Canada and Mexico because of Saunders and Perez being their reps. If Felix was still on VZ, I'd go for them all the way. The US national team is overrated to me.

Yeah I'm excited to see the WBC. Adam Jones has said this was a dream of his, to play for Team USA. As an Orioles fan and an American it's easy to see who I'm rooting for.

Also I play in a dedicated keeper roto league with some friends and then I'm in an h2h league with new rosters every year with people from a board I've posted on for over 10 years.

Not necessarily baseball-related but I'm extremely disappointed in how MLB reacted to Hugo Chavez's death. In the Marlins-Team Venezuela game, they were not allowed a moment of silence for him. Obviously it's because he's anti-American and called President Bush the devil.

For an entire country who lost their beloved leader, you'd have to feel bad for the entire team. I'm going to be controversial here, but part of me wants Team Venezuela to take it all now for Sr. Chavez (blame my obsession with Mariners' nationalities instead of rooting for my own country, I know, I know, I secretly rooted for Japan when Ichiro led their two WBC teams).

Aside from that, a 10-1 start to the M's spring training makes me a happy man. Royals fans should also be happy with their respective 10-0 start :)

Agreed. They should have allowed a moment of silence. Hell, no one has to like it, but it's a respectful act. Still rooting for either the USA or Japan here.

I've always wondered what would happen if they made a team of the "best" US players in the MLB and had them play as Team USA instead of how it's set up now.
