I don't mind western animation, but I'm not a fan of american cartoons that try to simulate the anime styling.

After the late 90's, I felt like most of the cartoons that were airing on TV were terrible. But as a whole, I still enjoy Western animation, especially when it comes to movies.
Solvite said:

There is no "anime" styling. Looking at shows like Panty and Stocking with Gartbelt, Crayon Shin Chan and others, it's obvious that an anime can look any way the author/artist intended and still be considered anime in Japan.

In the cinematic sense, I think it's only become better. Pixar, Disney, Dreamworks, Laika... sure there are a few stinkers but its solid stuff and ample evidence that we have begun to emerge from the Animation Age Ghetto.

The 90s was a glorious time for televised animation but it all seemed to dry up for the most part in the aughts with some exceptions. Nowadays, televised Western animation is coming back in a big way with stuff like Friendship is Magic, Adventure Time, and Archer. It's a good time to be a cartoon fan.

80's and 90's shows were awesome. I remember when I was a kid I spent all my free time looking at them (guess who had no life since the age of 5?).

People might remember Johny Quest, Space Ghost, TMNT, Captain Planet, He-Man, The Jetsons, MASK, The Mask, Scooby Doo, Centurions,Dungeons and Dragons, Galtar, Thundarr the Barbarian, Voltron etc

And ofc. probably my all time favourites, The Pirates of Dark Water and Swat Kats !!

Western animation, as in cartoons? Can't stand them, mainly because every single one of them is aimed at children, or extremely stupid (Family Guy, drawn together..)

I think western animation is a lot more than just cartoons though, OP should've given more examples here.

Lol the people who made the Airbender series, i have lots of respect of since I've only heard that its but I didn't actually watch it to give it a legit rate
but if Americans made anime's like the Japanese did, I'd very much appreciate it
I still don't like it when white people getting hired to dub japanese anime.

Yeah I do, though I haven't watched much cartoons except for Spongebob, King of the Hill, the Simpsons, Futurama, and Avatar in the last 10 years. Though that Flapjack show was pretty funny.

I recently downloaded like 100 episodes of Betty Boop (legally and free, of course), and most of the episodes are from the 30s. I really like how everything was a live back then. Surprisingly there's an episode where she was in Japan and is singing in Japanese.

I love the DC Animated Universe from Batman The Animated Series to Justice League Unlimited. Those are some of my personal favorites.

I also enjoy a lot of the Marvel Comics series from the 1990s as well such as Spider-Man and X-Men. The Fantastic Four theme song was damn well catchy, too.

From the 1980s, well, the list goes on for miles and miles.

Ahhh...western for me are those from the Oscars that aren't American made - Norwegian, Canadian, Russian, etc. I love watching those when they have subs - sucks if they don't. I don't actually watch American made cartoons these days except perhaps those from AniBoom at YT. I did use to watch The Simpsons.

In general, I am not a big fan of western animation. The main thing I have a problem with the the actual style of the animation itself. I don't like Disney's art style nor do I like the Pixar and Dreamworks art style. I enjoyed some of their films (I can't say I'm a huge fan), I especially liked Finding Nemo, but I just do not like the art style of it.

Also, I love shows like Futurama, Venture Bros, Metalocalypse, and so on (especially Futurama), but even those, while I find them hilarious and really enjoy the content, I can't honestly say that I am a big fan of the animation itself.

Also, I don't think I will ever understand people's obsessions with shows like Adventure Time and My Little Pony (the only new one that I really enjoyed much at all was Flapjack). I really enjoyed western children's cartoons when I was a child, and I would still enjoy watching some old Spongebob, Angry Beavers, Hey Arnold, Billy & Mandy, etc. now, even barring the nostalgia value, but the animation itself does not hold up well to Japanese animation in my opinion.

TL;DR - I like some western cartoons, but I do not like the art style used in western animation. Also, I can't wait for the new episodes of Futurama and Venture Bros. to start airing.

I also dislike Clannad, but though it's art style isn't anywhere near my favorite I still like the animation of it better than the majority of western cartoons. The reason why I like Japanese animation is generally because I like the art style of the animation itself and the content, while with western animation, I can really just like the content at best. Though in general, I like the content of Japanese animation better as well because to me it seems that western animators are only really adept at pulling off comedy. I do also really enjoy Japanese comedy as well.

A lot of the cartoons today are really bad, but even the old ones when you think about it are really bad.

Scooby Doo, Mr Gadget... etc. Most of them are bad.

My favorite cartoons (great good ones); Jimmy Neutron, Fairly Odd Parents, Spongebob... what else? etc.

The teen ones, great, not always, not every episode but just not my thing to follow that much, not always (Family Guy, South Park, Simpsoms, American Dad)

I think that there are great western stuff.
So many good titles, as I see it, there is so much Anime but in general only a few are really great.
On the other hand for some reason I think that Western hold a overall higher standard, but this I could be completely wrong about.

As for West, I love stuff Like Daria, Downtown, Archer, Fritz the cat and many more.
I think western drawing/animation style is usually better suited for my taste.

Yeah, and it's better if you compare works that are nothing alike. For God's sake, take When the wind blows (and I don't even like it) or Persepolis for the comparison, not a damn fairy tale which for starters is not even meant to be in the same emotional league than the above mentioned anime films.

I'd probably have to say that The Simpsons is still my favorite TV show of all time. I honestly haven't probably watched it in like 10 years, but seasons 3-8 are perhaps the best TV I've ever seen.

Also growing up there were just so many that I loved and watched. Pro-Stars, Count Duckula, Cops, Garfield and Friends, Muppet Babies, Freakazoid was incredible. Lastly what might be the 2nd best after The Simpsons, Duckman. Man Duckman was really, really good.

So safe to say that I loved Western (specifically American) animation. I don't really watch it much anymore (Aqua Teen Hunger Force's first 20-30 episodes I thought were pretty great), but just the stuff from my childhood I hold in such high esteem that I have to say I like it a lot.
