It's just the power of the anime, they'll drop next year, check Toriko for an example.
Now commenting on the list:

I'm really glad in seeing Uchuu Kyoudai in the 4th place.

It's funny that Hunter x Hunter is in that list despite being in a hiatus for 9 months already, it's gonna be really interesting to see how much it'd sell in a year where Togashi doesn't take any breaks.

Magi getting in that position after a couple of months of its anime starting was really surprising, though too bad the adaptation is horrible (for a manga reader) till now.

I think Magi and Uchuu Kyoudai top positions are also because of Anime. I just checked. Ao no Exorcist and Toriko were taking spotlight last year.

Uchuu Kyoudai was in the previous list (surprisingly) but yea it did get a boost, the anime is really amazing. Magi's is definitely because of the anime, it's been selling like crazy since before the anime aired till now.

After being #4 for the past two years Fairy Tail dropped 1 rank. Its no surprise though, SpaceBro's and KuroBasket's anime adaptations increased their manga sales tremendously.

Next year, aim for top 3, Naruto won't possibly be there, but can't say if a new anime can increase more of a upcoming manga's sales.

Naruto individual volume sales are better than last year, as well as some are better than 2010 and avg volume sales are consistent (over a million) as far as i know, tell me if i'm wrong. The big difference is in OP sales this year. 14.5 million difference, but still it's dominant and will stay till ending probably. Also Naruto ending might take a year or two.

A 5.5% drop from having 4 volumes out this year rather than 5 last?
And sales per new volume is up on last year.

Doesn't look like dropping like nuts to me.

In comparison:
kimi ni todoke dropped 1.7%
fairy tail dropped 12.2%
bakuman dropped 27% (yes I know it finished, but the last volume came out fairly late in the year)
bleach dropped 29%
gintama dropped 35.4%
toriko dropped 35.6%
one piece dropped 38.3%
blue exorcist dropped 56.7%
gantz dropped more than 60% and disappeared from the rankings

So of the top 10 from last year, only kimi ni todoke has held up better than naruto, and that had 1 more volume come out this year, compared to naruto's 1 fewer volume.

Some people seem to not understand that in first list all volumes are counted, not just those which came out in this particular year. One piece was so huge because of Marineford arc which made hundreds of thousands people buy whole series. Now that Fishmen Island turned out to be one of more boring arcs, not many new people got introduced to the series and figure in first list relied much more on newest volumes which sell as good as new volumes did in 2011.
One Piece didn't drop at all, it just grew much less than last time.

Of course it is all volumes combined, but the number of new volumes has a significant impact.

If an extra naruto volume had come out on the last week of the year, that would have probably given it an extra 600k sales, putting it above the figure for last year.

And one piece DID drop. The reason for the drop doesn't change the fact that its sales did go down significantly.
There is no such thing as shit taste. Only idiots who think everyone should have the same taste as they do.

Of course it didn't.
2011:
**1, 3,382,588 One Piece vol.61
*2, 3,207,568 One Piece vol.62
*3, 3,073,175 One Piece vol.63
*4, 2,652,700 One Piece vol.64

2012:
*1, 3,336,992 One Piece vol.65
*2, 3,320,744 One Piece vol.66
*3, 3,044,901 One Piece vol.67
*4, 2,390,625 One Piece vol.68

Differences are meaningless considering high thresholds and the fact that manga are bought in big amounts for months unlike anime which drop in hundreds or tens after just weeks.

The only thing that occurred is that much less new people were introduced to the One Piece. Saying "You know, this manga is absolutely amazing but last three volumes were rather boring" is much less convincing than "You know that best selling manga? Actually, it has never been as awesome as it is right now!".

Of course, some people probably dropped the series (or died) but similar amount started buying it in 2012.

Miura Kentarou is releasing one volume per year since 2007. Last volume was released in september 2011. Also it's not possible for one volume to top yearly list. Unless there is a huge boost for overall sales.

I was talking about a drop in sales, not a drop in the number of people reading it.

And yes, the drop in sales comes from a drop in the sales of earlier volumes and not from the new ones, but that is still a drop in sales.

Well, no surprise with One Piece. (Volume 65 could be #8 on it's own) and Kuroko did surprising well.

Uchuu Kyoudai selling more than Fairy Tail makes me happy.

Glad that SKET Dance and Chihayafuru are doing well too.

Though the highest selling volume isn't the most recent one, so it may be going down a bit.
There's always one that dominates an industry. (Harry Potter? :O)

Last year OP vol 61-64, this year OP vol 65-68
That's four both years. And with both years also having similar amounts of residue sales from the last volume of the previous year.

Bleach did have one less volume, though, yes.

Kuroko got those numbers only because ALL volumes got boost thanks to anime, people seem to forget about it. Before it aired, volumes sold ~200k, now it's 600k.
14 volumes from previous years getting almost 400k boost + 5 new volumes selling 600k results in 8M for 2012. Kuroko will likely fall out of top10 (e: maybe it will be #8-10) next year even though its volumes will be selling slightly better than now.
One Piece, Naruto, Kimi ni Todoke, Hunter x Hunter, Ao no Exorcist, Gin no Saji, Bleach, Thermae Romae, Shingeki no Kyojin, Yotsuba, Kuroshitsuji, 3 Gaatsu no Lion - all those manga sell better than Kuroko in reality, it's just that majority of Kuroko sales were cramped up in 2012 even though the series is like, five years old?
Kuroko will be above some of them next year thanks to bigger number of volumes released yearly but will lose to other series getting huge boost thanks to anime like probably Magi. I can't wait for Shingeki no Kyojin numbers in 2013 after anime airs. Manga is great, I hope anime does it justice, PVs look promising.

Shingeki no kyojin already sells between 600k ~ 700k per volume by default .Ocassionally just below 800k.

The anime might boost that figure to 1.2 million ~ 1.5 million per volume.Only few mangas have passed the 1 million mark.
Shingeki no kyojin does seem to have the potential to achieve that.
