Should I watch Stein's Gate before continuing this series ? I haven't seen it before.

Mod Edit: Title edited for clarity.

But will it give me any sort of info that I can relate to this anime ?
Inside jokes and other random stuff included.

Hmm ... rephrasing of my question :
"What will I get out of watching Stein's Gate in relation to Robotics Notes ?"

You will get the reference to the current world line.

A minor character from S;G , Nea, who was young at the time, will appear as a member/researcher at JAXA.

Apparently, Its also recommended to watch, play Chaos;Head or at least know some info about it. I forgot what, but its either that a researchers' goal in R;N was the same as in C;H or certain research/experiments used in C;H will be used in R;N.

Much more helpful and detailed of a responce, thanks a bunch !

Do yourself a favor, do not watch Chaos;Head, read the visual novel instead.
It's anime adaptation was really horrible. One of the worst adaptations I've ever seen.
And, It seems that you're really need to know Chaos;Head to fully enjoy Robotics;Notes.
It's only 5 episodes, but R;N already had several major references to Chaos;Head. Even more than to Steins;Gate, by the way. For now, at least.
If you don't want to read the novel, than it's better to just forget about Chaos;Head. Believe me, that would be really better.

The visual novel wasn't much better, Chaos Head was terrible in every form after you got past the halfway point.

For you, maybe.
Anyway, even without the second half, the anime messed up the first half too.
The characters looks like complete retards because animators didn't have enough air time to show motivations for their actions.
For example, Takumi from the first episode looks like hysteric girl who afraid of everything in the world and doesn't deserve anything but pity.
On the other hand, there is the visual novel which is slowly and carefully pumps suspense, making the reader just as paranoid as Takumi is.
Thus, VN deserves to be read at least for it's first half. Anime is just horrible and doesn't deserve even to exist.

I wouldn't really say you have to watch Steins; Gate prior to watching this, but still check out Steins; Gate since it is very good.

Chaos;Head and Steins;Gate and Robotics;Notes can be viewed as standalone series, but if you still believe you gonna watch them all then just do so

There is no real need but having played/watched the first two series makes some references nice to see and there is a minor appearance from A major character from S;G and a minor character.

Steins;Gate and Robotics;Notes are standalone series yet they only share their references so it's up to you.

It's recommended to watch Steins;Gate 1st for some emotional stackpile effort.

I would like to follow this advice too, but I've been unsuccessful in installing C;H numerous times before R;N started. I'm going to try 1 last time, if it doesn't work, I'll just watch the anime. If even its worthy of a measly 4/10, I could still watch it.

You should try changing your locale to Japan before playing it after downloading. Sometimes that helps.

Thanks for all the info, I'll definately be able to figure out what I'll do from all this.
Since I'm now content, let this thread be turned into one where we share good reasons to watch stein's gate, CH, and/or RD in relation to Robotic's Notes.

Yeah, you don't actually need to know the story of C;H or S;G. But it's one of those things that if you know their story prior to watching Robotics;Notes it will enhance the experience.

R;N is still a "sequel" of S;G, in terms of being scientific and both are in the same universe.

It is set to Japan. I followed all instructions to the letter. The game installs but the patch thing doesn't want to work and it gives some error message when I try to start the game

You don't have to watch it, they're only in the same Universe. But I recommend you watch it because it's a masterpiece

I found one good torrent somewhere that's pre-patched I'll try and find it for you.
