So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

True, but if you call it a computer you are going to give an impression of what people think as a general purpose computer. For example, if I have a calculator, should I call it a computer just because it does calculation based on pre-programmed rules?

True, but calling it computer if someone hands you a calculator and ask you what it is is pretty missing the point, right? That is my point, and that is why I said it was an archive storage instead of a computer (with its connotation that it is a general purpose computer)

Nothing fail about it. "The Force" is actually a correct translation. Even NotRedReviews noted that it was a good translation, here, with Commie's TL (Nanu) also expressing support for it.
Take it from a translator: Juryoku is "mystical force", which is basically what the Force is. It is not "Cantus" or a "cursed power". Crunchyroll's translation (the Power) isn't bad though.

The problem is that people automatically assumed, based on UTW's good record, that they would correctly translate everything. In this case, they have not.

I did read it.
Their methodology for coming up with "Cantus" is extremely suspect, since it is, essentially, as follows:
1) Take a word related to magic.
2) Pull part of that word out.
3) Change it a bit.
4) ???
5) PROFIT!

This doesn't take into account that the word they've come up (Cantus) with actually has a meaning, which is completely inappropriate for its usage here (it means "the highest voice in polyphonic choral music").

And now I feel like I understand the story more ... and I know where they may heading at ...

This is indeed going to be awesome. I can't wait for the future episode for this show.

Oh, and BTW, I like "The force" from Aidoru more. I watched UTW on the first episode, and I didn't understand why they picked that word at all. Looking up that word on the dictionary also reveals no meaning match to what happen in this episode. So, really cleaver choice (with the close-to-perfect translation) indeed.

The flashback proved that ninjas are indeed the best solution when fighting against tyrannical physic overlords.

The guys did not dress as ninja so I would not call them ninjas.

And the anime did not make it too clear why the assassin, apparently without power, managed to kill the emperor. I wonder how the English sub translated the words said by the assassin before he sneaked into the palace?

Anyway, in the novel there is a sad story behind the assassination but of course the anime had to skip it to save space.

In the novel there are a bunch of such flashbacks about the terrible things happened in the past, though I am not sure if they would keep putting them in the anime just like they did for the first 3 episodes so far.

I'm sorry, but when every episode so far feels like 5 minutes and I'm left going "that's it?", I'm going to give this a 9/10 for now. I haven't given anything higher than a 7 for a show that isn't even 1/2 way over. That speaks volumes to how awesome this show is. I just love how creative this show is from the art style to the world itself. Props to the author.

Sure it's a bit slow, but the setting and the mood has been more than established. I think we're all immersed to the world of SSY by now and we still have 22 more episodes left. The music is haunting and the ED is amazing. Now we just need some more character spotlight, like Shun/Saki this episode.

This was another terrific episode. The story continues to be exceptionally well-told, rarely faltering in it's masterful execution. Though slow at times, I find it quite deliberate in it's methodical pacing, which allows for a thorough immersion into the gradual development of the world and the characters that inhabit it.

The opening sequence was fantastic, as, five hundred and seventy years following the initial outbreak of magical abilities, three assassins lay siege to the temple, and, eventually, after suffusing their surroundings in a fiery glow, the final assassin murders the Emperor of Delight, and, as was noted by the assassin, this brutally momentous action likely altered history in a significant fashion. Though these opening sequences are usually visually impressive, this one was particularly so, as the artistic style, by way of some beautifully contrasting colors, excellently portrayed each significant flourish. Since they effectively illuminate the unknown evolution of the original world into this veiled, tautly structured society, these sequences remain incredibly effective in establishing a certain atmosphere that permeates the entire episode, casting a particularly ominous air over the following developments.

The story, though more serene in tone throughout the episode, remains extensively thought-provoking and intriguing. Following an important scene from the previous episode that involved Saki's disobedient action of using her Cantus to free a queerat, they've already chosen to rebel once again by abandoning their planned route and rowing to a destination that wasn't permitted. The starlit scene in which Shun touched Saki's hand was a pretty good moment, as their small, but nice interactions are quite compelling, since, up to this point, their burgeoning relationship signifies the sole presence of any discernible emotions of a romantic inclination.

There is one particular, seemingly insignificant scene I thought worth mentioning, since it could prove to be a brief moment of foreshadowing. Upon first encountering the minoshiro, they all become temporarily hypnotized, save for Saki, since she was somehow protected by the glasses she wore. This could potentially be an omen of significance, denoting Saki as the sole survivor of the coming events. Their encounter with the minoshiro was a great scene, as, eventually, having been captured and tamed, the minoshiro spoke, indicating that it was a biological library containing historical knowledge. I'm rather excited for the increased unraveling of the narrative that very possibly awaits following the cliffhanger of sorts that concluded the episode. There also appeared to be a vague connection between the story that ominously illustrated the fate of those who come upon an evil minoshiro and their actual encounter with one, thus acknowledging that, if they manage to reveal the secrets closed within, they could be similarly "disposed" of.

The characters are exceedingly interesting, particularly Saki, as her complexities were most noticeable when she coldly threatened to seriously injure the minoshiro. The character interactions remain quite engaging, and it will be interesting to see how suddenly they transition in nature once their relatively peaceful existence is shattered. Their innocent, relaxed activities belie the unsettling nature of their world; a disquieting dichotomy that will inevitably come into play. As such, the developments within the next episode could provide an irreversible loss of innocence and an unexpected maturation into adulthood.

The production values have been one of the strongest elements of the show so far. The direction is extremely consistent in it's high quality, particularly in how confidently it manages to evoke directly contrasting emotions in moments that might otherwise appear lighthearted and relatively meaningless. It handles the complex pacing really well, while also balancing every episode with a tightly focused, distinctly subtle approach. Hardly any shot is wasted or left for mere insignificance.

This episode was visually amazing, highlighted especially in the opening, but also displayed quite wonderfully throughout the dazzling starlit sequence. As always, there were a plethora of stunning scenic shots. The writing is terrific, particularly in how deftly it handles the nuances of Saki's complex characterization. Musically, I felt this episode was more consistent than the last, since it was devoid of any particularly jarring selections, such as was evident in last episode's tournament. My absolute favorite piece is the one used in each opening, as it sets the tone for these haunting preludes brilliantly.

All in all, From the New World continues to excel with it's haunting depiction of a decayed, desolate society and the precocious naivety of the children who now seem lost in it's mysterious, unprotected edges. I'm really looking forward to the next episode, as it suggests they'll finally discover the truth surrounding the blood-stained nature of their world. Also, judging by the preview, it seems that they'll be made aware that fiends, beings that bring the potential for the destruction of their controlled society, may emerge once again. It's possible that these "fiends" could, in fact, refer to any or all of the main characters. This is easily the best, most impressive show of the season.

I wonder how the English sub translated the words said by the assassin just before he sneaked into the palace at the start of the episode?

And I don't know why only that particular part has a different art style (while the flashback in ep.2 looks similar to the one in the main story in terms of art style)

For next episode, the trailer shows the library explaining history. I wonder if it will take up the whole episode, but either in this episode or the next

Do you speak Japanese, or are you just judging this on what "sounds cool" in English?

Because "the Force" is the most accurate translation of the term "Juryoku".

Also, the opinion of the translators on the other two releases of this show in English (UTW and Commie), from here:
> "Oh, I’m sure plenty of f/a/ggots would rage about that. I like it though." - Vale, UTW
> "I love the idea of using “Force,” not just for the reference to the Star Wars’.similar power, but it being a word, rather than two. (I put it as Cursed Power). The word will be repeatedly used throughout the series, so having it as concise as “Force” is a really nice choice." - Nanuneko, Commie

I'd say Aidoru did a pretty good job with that term.

Things are becoming more clear with every episode judging from the reactions of the characters it seems they are unfamiliar with are present day technology.
Since they didn't seem to understand the terms hologram bytes or storage device it's clear that they don't know anything about computers or anything alike.
I also haven't seen any other forms of mechanical technology in there world such as cars or other forms of machinery.
But now they have found a library which is very advanced not just by looks but also what it's capable of.
But it also seems like they have gotten in contact with something they shouldn't have the library most likely contains things of a past unknown to them and something they are not allowed to know by there society from that point of view that library is considered a danger by there society.
So Saki's last question the cliffhanger could be seen as her opening Pandora's box in there time.
