I've only heard 'The Day That Never Comes', which I thought sounded like The Unforgiven II in guitar and lyrics and One in drumming and song structure. I like the song, I thought with what Rubin did with LP's Minutes to Midnight (I know people like it, I personally don't) I though he MAY mess it up and have it not be 'Metallica' (which you said) but if you say they're good nevertheless, I'll trust you until I hear for myself ^_^

How did you get it btw?

A french store accidentally started selling the album 10 days before the release date and that resulted in a leak. It's all over the internet now. It wouldn't take much searching, but if you really wanted I could PM you a link.

Ah leak lol, it had to be. But dw, I downloaded it myself, thanks for the offer anyway ^_^

Really good album for a band that has released things Load, Reload and St. Anger in the last 12 years (I still prefer a little more the 1983-1988 era, and this album, as Kirk spoke in a interview to a Brazillian famous newspaper, is a mix of the sonority of the early years with the sonority of the later albums, creating something completely new).

Metallica has been nonstop fail since ever since they released the song 'Enter Sandman'. After that, they all went to shit. Their first few albums are good though, my personal favorite being Kill 'em All. That is the good shit, not this designed for radio corperate sell-out bullshit they have been handing us. For all I'm concerned Metallica broke up in around 1994.
I'm back.

Album of the Year material (that would have to go to "Opeth - Watershed" so far)

Agreed on that as well!

i would surely take more time cutting out the flaws and perfectionating the whole thing before i release something.

Then they would never release the
album...

They think it`s good
and they don`t see anything that
needs to be changed...

Me too...

Haven't heard the album, probably won't bother because Metallica aren't really my thing. However, I'm not going to say anything negative about the band, but rather the vinyl box they are putting out for this record. This box set is likely the stupidest novelty item I've ever come across (next to that little 'vinyl car' thing that would 'drive' around a vinyl and play the music through an on board speaker, it was pretty cute but at the same time totally stupid)

Anyways, I read about the box set on VLV, and apparently it's going to consist of 5 vinyl LPs, meaning each song on the new album receives it's very own side! Not only is this a complete waste of vinyl but it's totally unpractical, (imagine trying to listen to a full length album this way). Then add to that it will cost over 100 dollars. It's obvious that it's not even intended to be played but rather to be stored away in a collection forever. I'm certain there will be a normal record version released on vinyl but this box set thing is ridiculous. All I can hope is that this information was not accurate because I really have a hard time imagining why anyone would put out a 5 LP box set for just one single record.

It's one thing to collect rare records and not play them (I have quite a few test pressings for various bands I enjoy which will never see a turn table) but that's entirely different, we are talking about records limited to between 5 and 15 copies, not a purposely created novelty item.

Metallica has officially jumped the shark with this box set.

The Day That Never Comes and Cyanide are okay to me though but not the best compare to their past songs.

I just got a copy of the album today and currently listening to it. Hmmm, I can't say it's a total shit as others would say. Much better compare to St. Anger. First hearing Broken, Beat & Scarred...it became an instant fave.

Metallica or the black abum is my favorite and RTL is next because For Whom the Bell Tolls is there...and of course, Ride the Lightning.

Noooo! Because I was reading this thread i've now got St Anger in my head.

'I'm madly in anger with you!' Just that line.

I've never been a big Metallica fan. Although i'm love the songs: One, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Enter Sandman. But I was definitely not digging St Anger. But this album seems alright so far. Gave it my first listen last night. As a metal fan it's pretty decent, i like the song "All Nightmare Long" so far.

I might go play "One" on guitar hero now :D - if anything just to get St Anger out of my head!
