@OhanaNiArashi

I took a look at your list, and based on series you've given scores of 9 and 8, I can comfortably suggest that you're going to enjoy Nichijou. The first episode is a bit weak, but it's good by the second episode, and continues getting better throughout most of the series.

Berserk- grimdark and amazing, once you get a few episodes in it starts to get great and just keeps getting better.

Spice and Wolf- Holo is far more then just a cute girl with animal ears. Worth watching for her alone.

I highly recommened; Sankarea, Deadman Wonderland, Chobits and Lucky ☆ Star.
Usagi Drop and 5 Centimeters per Second are also quite good, but don't prioritise them.

Cowboy Bebop-- Watch this as soon as possible. Not only is it a classic, it is one of the highest quality shows you will ever see.

Death Note-- Great psychological thriller; one of the most engrossing cat and mouse games I've ever seen.

Ghost Hunt-- Light-horror, comedy and a hint of romance... just a really fun time.

Grave of the Fireflies-- Heart-breaking and powerful, an incredibly effective anti-war movie; one of the medium's masterpieces.

Neon Genesis Evangelion-- Deeply flawed, but still a very interesting intellectually, and incredibly influential in the world of anime.

Haruhi Suzumiya-- So much fun, and creative. Haruhi and Kyon are a fantastic pair. The second season is kind of a drag with the endless eight, but the franchise overall is very good, especially the movie.

@Gao_Gao

Bamboo Blade-- Cute fun with a lot of heart.

Now and Then, Here and There-- Emotionally devastating, and deeply rewarding.

Arrietty-- Slow, and a bit unsatisfying, but very beautiful and magical in a calming way.

Monster-- Fantastic suspense thriller with powerful human and philosophical themes.

Toradora-- Amazing Romantic comedy; cute, sweet, and very rewarding.

Eve no Jikan: Great ONA about cafeteria in the future, where humans and robots are treated equal.

Hyakko: Pretty similar to Minami-ke; school slice-of-life with a nice cast of characters. Very fun.

Nekojiru-sou: Thought-provoking OVA with theme of souls and destiny.

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei: Excellent dark humor, one of the best anime comedy, must-watch. My favorite SHAFT show. It probably influenced The Tatami Galaxy.

Wow.. you have quite the list of shows that are worth watching

Arakawa Under the Bridge: Hilarious, has a lot of weird characters and the story is just extremely bizarre it is amazing

Beck: It was a great story, and I'm not really one to enjoy anime based around music. Think I watched the English Dub of this anime, which was great still

Hajime no Ippo: One of my favorite animes of all time, and an inspiring story where Ippo kicks ass as a boxer. Usually not a fan of sport based Animes, but it was great

Mushishi: A great looking anime, with interesting characters an cases in which the main character Ginko travels around solving mysterious cases. Doesn't have the greatest ending though.. since the manga continued

Soul Eater: Really enjoyed this show to the point I made it to, but still have to finish it myself. One of the funniest Anime episodes of all time was in the first 10 episodes of this show.

Also - Look up Gintama

Think this is a good start for you, because you got some pretty good series in that list to watch.

Ergo Proxy and K-On! are both very worth watching in my eyes. (Although, I did prefer the second season of K-On! better).
Ghost Hound is also a good series, though I haven't finished it.

@recheebts
The only thing I could recommend to you would be Another. To answer your question, it's a pretty good 'horror/thriller', in the sense that it keeps you wondering what'll happen next and encourages you to keep on watching right until the very end.

well id through out nyan koi if that's the anime about that guy who like can speak to cat gods or something like that.

Well of course Macross would be a good one to watch, but the reason why its in about 80% of people ptw is because there is just so much of it spanning over a long period of time. So I would go with K-ON as it will offer you some laughs. Unless you arn't into moe. In which case you will hate it. I liked the ending song to that season. Have yet to watch season two however.

Rather empty over here but some quality entries to be found.

Natsume Yuujinchou - Delivers a nice atmosphere. Just started it myself but this has a great feel to it.
Spice and Wolf - If the economics aren't your thing, there's still great dialogue.
Tasogare Otome x Amnesia - I've seen worse ghost stories and the fanservice doesn't take it overboard.

Natsume Yuujinchou. They are both amazing in their own way and I highly recommend them.

lol I keep getting ninja'd, I love that we recommended the same anime though.

@Zylixae

there's a lot of good stuff in your list (nice style btw); I strongly recommend:

Aria -calming and beautiful, one of the best sol series
Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu -interesting plot&setting, awesome characters
Mawaru Penguindrum -fate, love and penguins...and tons of symbolism
Ghost Hunt -good balance of horror and comedy, a hint of romance and great characters
Shiki -vampires done right
Usagi Drop -sweet and heart-warming
(and if you liked S1 of Darker than Black watch Gaiden and forget Gemini exists)

Accel World - It's pretty much a straightforward shounen battle animé, though the lead character may turn you away (for various reasons, believe me). If you love battles, then this is for you.

Ano Natsu de Matteru - High school romance with a pretty unique twist. It's one of the great shows during its season, and it still is one of the most endearing stories I've seen. You can give it a go if you like romances a lot.

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu - Now, I must warn you: I'm completely biased for Baka and Test. It's easily one of my favorite shows ever, if not my favorite at all. It'll give you tons of laughs, with a little romance here and there. Also, their parodies of famous shows are funny as heck. I say you should try this and give it priority. If you liked it, you can watch the OVAs and the second season.

Bakemonogatari - Beautiful dialogue and animation. It's fluid, and it's entertaining. (Also, I loved the opening themes.) You can watch this for a good time, though I must warn you: the spiritual prequel (Nisemonogatari) is pretty much Bakemonogatari + innuendos. Nevertheless, Bakemonogatari focuses on a not-so-cookie-cutter romance that's pretty interesting in my book.

Tegami Bachi - This show is all about tears. Not Ano Hana-style tears, more of "I-sympathize-with-the-lead-character" kind of tears, mostly because the lead character cries. A lot. You might actually find it funny at some point (like me). Despite that flaw, it's a great show about relationships expressed through letters and whatnot.
