Discuss! ep1 I'm not being a fake or a show off when I say I can kinda get where Watanuki is coming from wanting to get the spirits literaly off his back. So, I pretty much already identify with Watanuki. LOL she really did trick him into being indebted to her. I'm wondering if there's some great Fate or something that he will have in the future. Makona is adorable! Animation: Stick boy is stick like! lol most of the character from this show must have been zippers in a past life or something! Music: Meh nothing special Characters: So far I don't hate anyone lol All in all: It's Clamp so I know it will probably be good if a little screwed up. On to episode two! First of all, I WANT Yuuko's wardrobe. Second of all Ooo morals in anime! I totally get what Yuuko meant when she said that liars have to fix their own problems for their own reasons. A few years ago, I had that problem. I was never THAT bad though! But after a certan point, it's more natural to lie than to tell the truth... especially if it concerns a stressfull topic. I thought it was sweet how Watanuki got her to the hosiptal and sat by her side for a while. Interesting ring. I wonder if anything else like that will show up. Also, if the ring hadn't have been cracked already, would the smoke have shown at all after she put it on? Something tells me kitchen labor is the comic relief for this show. And I'll watch the other two when I get up. It's two AM lol. |

Episode 1: Writing this as I go. So sorry if it gets a bit long. xD;; Man, how chill is that opening. ^^ Throughout the whole thing as well art-wise I was just going, 'oh, hey CLAMP.' Butterflies: check. Gothi-loli: check. Noodlemen: check. That misty smokey stuff they like to put everywhere: check. ^-^ Nostalgia. xD Loved Watanuki rolling about on the ground trying to get the... ayakashi thingies off him. (Er, if that's Watanuki. I know the three main characters are Watanuki, Yuuko and Doumeki, but now that I come to think of it I'm not 100% sure which is Watanuki and which is Doumeki) Oh there we go, it's Watanuki after all. Watanuki's spazz fits are extremely adorkable xDD "You move funny" indeed! WHAT IS THAT. I WANT ONE. I WANT A MOKONA. *v* [/girl] Oohhhhh crap. That eye doesn't look friendly. I wonder if that girl could actually see things or if she was just an attention-seeker? HMM. This first episode shows a lot of promise. Already it's a lot more interesting than X, which was my most recent attempt at a CLAMP anime. Onwards! Episode 2: XD Man, Watanuki and/or Fukuyama Jun-san need to c h i l l I love that Yuuko's roped Watanuki into being her housewife xDD Yuuko = Queen of Cryptic Advice asdfghjkl; I totally forgot that Nakai Kazuya-san is Doumeki *www* This show suddenly got much better to me~~ woah Yuuko is really frigging tall OH, I TOTALLY CALLED IT. Her bad habit is lying. I guessed when Yuuko said her bad habit was to do with her mouth, then my hunch solidified when Watanuki talked about the black smoke coming out every time she answered a question. Though, on her first visit I guessed that her bad habit was that she was an adulterer ^^;; I thought maybe little finger being stiff = something to do with red string of fate = something love-related? Like she was getting in the way of other people's loves or something? lol. This makes a lot more sense. Hmmmm! I fully agree with Yuuko that the world is what you make of it. I'm really curious as to how far her fortune-telling stretches. As for the ring, sisgood, I think it wasn't cracked before Yuuko gave it to that woman? I rewatched to check, and it's a bit hard to tell ^^;; There seems to be a line across the red jewel, but that could be the bit of metal it's set in. Well, it doesn't matter either way but it's interesting! I wish it had shown whether it was cracked before, as I assumed it had been fine and then the lies had cracked it. And yeah, I'm with you sisgood; up until age 15 or so I was a quite serious pathological liar, almost to that level, srsly. OTL;; I really had to sit myself down metaphorically and decide to get out of that pattern. I make it my policy now to never lie to anyone I like lol. Honesty is really a matter of habit. Episode 3: Ooh. I was TERRIFIED of Kokkuri-san when I was a child xD;; This should be a good episode. ....... AH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!! Omg, Watanuki in those ears AND THEN DOUMEKI'S TOTAL LACK OF REACTION. XDDD Poor Watanuki getting messed with XD Oh, hey super-ominous building. I REALLY, REALLY WANT THAT MOKONA CHESS SET HOLY CHRIST Also, it's quite impressive that those ears look so elegant and cool on Yuuko and so hilarious and dorky/cute on Watanuki lol OH SNAP. IT WAS A TRAP. O________O Did NOT see that coming. Their running animation is (unintentionally?) hilarious. Oh I see, that's why she had Doumeki go with him. I wondered. "Things can only get more interesting from here." <----- My sentiments exactly, Yuuko. Episode 4: Oh! Doumeki's birthday is close to mine :3 What a typically vague fortune-telling. I call fake. And now we get to see some real fortune-telling from Yuuko :D Ooh. And that old lady is the real deal, eh. That episode went really fast. A nice 'settling' episode. I guess there'll be more plot next episode? Even if there isn't, at this level of immersion I don't mind. I'm impressed; maybe it's just my mood today or something, but I'm finding it extremely easy to get immersed in this show so far, despite the noodle people designs, slightly choppy animation and CLAMP pretentiousness (not that CLAMP pretentiousness is a bad thing lol, it's part of their charm, just that usually I affectionately eyeroll at it whereas in this show it only absorbs me more). Episode 5: Wow, Doumeki's pretty boss at archery. Watanuki. Watanuki. What are you doing. Warning bells are ALL OVER that food stall. xD;; ... Oh. Maybe it's not as bad as I thought lol. I was imagining some kind of Spirited Away scenario! fffffffff I have so much love for foxes >3< [/favourite animal] That was really cool, how they suddenly disappeared with no fuss or fanfare. Yuuko can really put away the sake, huh. xD One bottle of that would have me pretty goddamn tipsy! If the full moon is such a problem, I wonder why Yuuko doesn't just send Watanuki the next night? ^^;; Maybe the boxes have to be returned within a day or something lol. Oh there we go, Watanuki actually lampshaded it. I have no complaint then! That whole shiritori scene was so much fun *3* And I learnt something new about the origins of the game. Ohhhhh I see! THAT'S why it had to be on the night of the full moon! And there was even a point to the Haja arrow! ...Man, my story-telling expectations are really low nowadays if I'm so impressed by that ^^;; Ah ha ha ha, bless the little kitsune ^^;; (if you use a word ending in 'n', you lose, so he lost on the first word lol) Argh, that was a really enjoyable episode as well. To think I worried that I might not make it to 6 episodes today. *sticks episode 6 on* Episode 6: "It's ok. We're taking a wormhole." I LAUGHED. Oh ho, internet addiction is it? Interesting. Yuuko must know that it's not that easy to just stop. I'm sure she must have a plan. Ah ha ha ha! Goemon reference! (Pretty sure she was quoting Goemon) I really like that in the end, it's acknowledged that even Yuuko's supernatural abilities can't do much against the power of addiction unless the person really decides to change. Really good. Aaaaaand now I'm caught up! So glad I decided to make the effort to do this simulwatch ^w^ Thanks guys. Looking forward to reading all your thoughts. |

Don't hold back because of me, I'm prepared for intense sessions today and tomorrow ^^. e: episode 1 Can't really add much to what you two said. The opening is quite soothing and I already like it, that's always a plus. And the whole style of the show does indeed scream "CLAMP", but I'm not hating the stick people even though they are probably the most annoying clamp antic. The dialogue is a bit too pseudo-deep for me (meaning she deliberately talks in an overly mysterious way), but I canget over that as well. I'm really liking those spirit shows and this seems to have a different style from say Natsume or Hanada Shounen-shi so I'M pretty sure I'll enjoy it and maybe it'll even succeed my expecation. Oh and <3 Mokona <3 episode 2 An okay episode, but kinda predictable. It soon becam obvious she was lying (btw I associated the ring finger with a pinky swear (classic anime stuff) and from there it was only a step to broken promises/lying) and additionally I couldn't help but wonder how that truck driver could not have seen her. It was broad daylight on a big street with a clear view (nobody should have seen the black smoke) and she was standing there for like a minute. Guess I'll have to raisy my level of suspension of disbelief ^^. I also just saw that Kunogi = Koko from Jormungand. Looking forward to her becoming a main character! Together with Alicia/Erza Zoro/Hijikata and Lelouche I can already say I'll enjoy the VAs on this one. episode 3 The Doumeki/Watanuki combo is interesting indeed. Really enjoying Nakai Kazuya's voice acting too, he makes it easier to deal with Watanuki more or less constantly freaking out about something ^^. Also agreeing on the "it can only get more interesting" part. This episode with the main cast assembled was already more enjoyable than the first two. Looking forward to more of that! episode 4 This was quite enjoyable, probably the best episode so far for me. After the first episodes I wasn't sure, but by now I've raised my expectations again. Even though the plot was predictable the real deal was still impressive to see. And I agree with Sandileina on the "nice setting" part. I hope there are more calmer episodes like this to come and not always with some big, mean spirit. I'm not too fond of the spirit designs so that may be one reason. episode 5 Another very enjoyable episode. Loved the foxes (would have loved to taste that Oden too) and the shiratori part was fun too. This is really going more in a direction of my liking. The moonlight birds were pretty cool too. Nothing much too add, except I'd be up for some more Doumeki anytime ^^. episode 6 That internet woman had some serious facial expression issues. Creepy. However the topic of addiction was well handled and the "morale" is more or less my own opinion about it. And I knew I remembered that sentence from somewhere, thanks for bringing my attention to the Goemon reference Sandileina ^^. By the way I'm also surprised at how easy this is to marathon, but I'll stop here for today as I have to catch up on other stuff too. |

ep 3 Does it say way too much about my experiences/the stuff I watch that I knew exactly why there would be a Doumeki/Watanuki combo? Good episode. If you guys ever see a 3d person run in this anime and steal all of Yuuko's clothing, that would be me. The Angel game reminded me way too much of Ouji boards... yeah, don't screw with those either. I'm hoping that those headphones make another appearance... so cute! (And Chii wants her ears back lol) I didn't expect the black snake to be a "good" guy either. Nice twist! Ep 4 And that is the difference between a real and a fake. I had never heard of that method of pendulim forture telling. The ones I had heard of were point at the thing you are looking for and point towards yes or no for question based telling. You may have noticed that the actual forture teller had no sign advertising her tallent and took no money from Watanuki. That's actually pretty typical of the real tallent. They just live quiet normal lives, It's rare that a real tallent gets famous for what he/she can do. Really enjoying this show! It's cool that my experiences add extra understanding of what is going on for me. ep 5 LOL if there are anymore episodes like this I'm gonna hafta do a reccomendation for Natsume Yuujinchou and xxxholic. (There's a cute little fox child in that one too and I THINK it's the same voice actor!) This may be my favorite episode yet due to the feel of it being so much like Natsume. Anywho, I'm wondering when Japan decided that Friday 13th was unlucky. I thought that was just a Europian superstition. Loved the hot-pot stand, it was interesting finding out about the game and the story behind it. I've heard of something like those birds but I cant remember where from. Any ideas? ep 6 LOL It's Kazahaya and Rikuo from Gohou Drug! (Legal Drug) I hope CLAMP gets on the ball with that manga soon. I own all that's out and want mooooore. So, the Lush can get hangovers, hu? Quick recovery! Looks like Watanuki reaaaaly hates that tunnel. I so knew that the bat was gonna be used later on. I was a bit squirmy when I found out it was an internet addiction. I'd say mine is more generalized into a technology addiction. If I'm not on my computer, Im on Kindle or watching TV. I do keep the house clean and have somewhat of a social life but I am a little worried that it will effect my family down the road. Over the years though, I've been pretty good at reducing use of the thing I am addicted to so hopefully I can ballance everything. Giving up something cold turkey = Hard Reducing the time you spend doing something = not hard. Huh, I exepected a smash not a cut. She is so going out to buy another computer. Watching ep 7 If I ever get asked what Lolita looks like, I'll show them a picture of that rain spirit. I love the way this anime tells the stories. So far it's al episodic but I get a feeling it won't always be so. Yet more Doumeki/Watanuki duo in this episode. I had a feeling that that little girl was just a couple of baby-steps from becoming an evil spirit. I have to give the animators credit. There is no "eye shine" to speak of in this but I can still tell at a glance which people have something really wrong with them. Usually in anime, it's the people that don't have "eyeshine" but in this anime, it's those subtle tells that are naturally in a person's face. I love that. It was sweet how Doumeki stood out in the rain waiting for Watanuki for so long. Is it just me or are there slight Watanuki/Yuuko overtones in this anime? ep 8 Oh wow. How in the world did an idiot like that survive even to her twenties? "It would be dangerous for anyone else but me but I'll be fine because I'm special and have strong luck!" Give me a freaking break! It was nice seeing another rendition of the monkeys, or demons paw and it was well done. But I must confess, I smiled a little with that idiot's little house of cards came tumbling down. For someone that studied folklore, she really had no clue. Yeah, the one time I thought anything close to that, "oh nothing will hurt me. I have protection and it won't be dangerous!" I ended up in a BAD SPOT. I won't go into detals as it is a little unbelieveable, but let's just say I had a very stupid friend that did some very stupid things and got himself in a lot of trouble. I tried to help him and damn near got myself killed. And I'm now caught up! :3 |

Episode 7: Ahhh, this felt really peaceful. A nice, standard little story. I guess the amewarashi will come back in a later episode, since she's in the OP? That'd be nice - I like what we saw of her so far. Really wonder what Himawari-chan is though? I assumed she was a normal girl, but I guess not if what the amewarashi is anything to go by. Episode 8: Aaarrrgh, how can you study folklore etc and not know about the Monkey's Paw story >_______< Such a bad idea, silly girl. ... Oh, ok, she does know about it and is just... ignoring it. XD;; She deserves what she gets, most likely. Man, even though we all knew it was coming, that ending was quite chilling. Props to the animators indeed. Episode 9: ....... WHAT IS THAT xDD oh my god I'm dying slightly I WANT A PIPE FOXXXXXXX Hmm, looks like maybe this time round it'll be like what I thought episode 2 would turn out to be? GO LITTLE PIPEFOX, saving Watanuki from the truck xD Oh man, it's ridiculous how much I want one~ I'm guessing that Doumeki's grandfather will turn out to be important later, since he keeps mentioning him every few conversations lol ... Wooowww. That's a sinister-looking guillotine to go with the equally sinister concept for an amusement park attraction o_0 Nnnn, I wish I hadn't read spoilers for the end of the manga ages ago >_< When I read them I didn't think I'd ever get round to watching the anime, so. Fortunately I think the spoilers I read only pertain to events that happen after the anime adaptation(s?) so in a way it's kinda cool that I can watch this with 'hindsight', but it's also... like, I wanna go ASDFGHJKL; about bits but I don't want to spoiler things, so. XD;; [/silly little problems] Episode 10: Oh, Doumeki's grandfather is dead? There goes my theory then xD;; Oh well Whaaaaaaat Mokona's face when he was eating the thing :O Creepy! Doumeki's so cool, though~ HMM. I really wonder what/who Himawari-chan is. I'm really glad I didn't read any spoilers for that ^___________^ Aaaaand I met my 4-ep goal! 8D It's possible that I might not be able to watch anything tomorrow since it's my last exam in the late afternoon and I'm unsure what I'll be doing afterwards, so I'll watch episode 11 now so I'll only have three to catch up on if I do miss tomorrow, or only one to watch tomorrow if I can make it. :3 Episode 11: AH HA HA HA HA HA, Doumeki casually nicking the ohagi. XDD OH CRAP, did not see that coming O___O I thought it'd turn into a normal 'Silly Watanuki, she likes you and not Doumeki', but of course this is xxxHOLiC. xD This is so weeeiiirrrd, she just disappeared into the sky in tears ..... WHAT XD WHAT ARE THOSE LITTLE DUDES ON SURFBOARDS XDD Ohhhh!! I didn't even know that you get female zashikiwarashi. She's adorable. Wonder how she knows Watanuki? Anyway, nice episode again. Even the episodes where not too much happens are just lovely. The whole show has a really strong, intriguing atmosphere. ^^ |

episode 7 As I personally love rain I quite enjoyed this episode. a loli girl as a raingod of sorts was a bit of a weird choice, but whatever. The stuff below the tree with the dead girl was well handled as well, definitely agreeing on the storytelling part with sisgood. I'm not sure though if this will really stop being episodic. Longer arcs will definitely come up, but I'm not expecting and underlying plot to develop, except the character relationships. I'd also like to see more Doumeki. I like the nice, quiet guys (like Sanada Ryuu from Kimi ni Todoke for example) and it was indeed sweet of him to stand in the rain for 10 hours for Watanuki. episode 8 Well, she was a bit too stupid to make this really believeable. However the retribution at the end was well done and the whole story quite creepy, even though it was obvious that something along that lines would happen. episode 9 OH YES, I WANT ONE TOO <3. Dat Pipefox really was cute as hell even with the tendency to strangle people ^^. The rest of the episode was like an alternate version of that other episode. Not one of the more impressive episodes, but still okay. I guess we will see another pinky story at some point for some reason. episode 10 Well, considering the kind of show we're dealing with I wouldn't put some kind of appearance or importance of Doumekis grandfather out of the picture, even with him being dead. As for Himawari I agree, I'm really curious what her role is here. And Mokona had a good feast too this episode ^^ episode 11 This was a weird trip. First the obvious she-likes-you-not-him situation, then the girl grabbing Doumekis soul / Ohagi out of his stomach. Then those gang creatures in the sky and even the rain girl appeared again. Quite enjoyable though. This really is a very easy show to marathon for some reason. |

I'll catch up in the morning. I did a major overhaul of my anime list (getting all the code to work right was fun and took FOREVER... even with major help from that graphics club I'm in) but I did it and it sparkles now. *-* Then today I was over at my besties house which is always a guaranteed fun day for me. :3 I may try to finish a day or so early as we are leaving for a week-long trip to the family beach house next Thursday and the internet speed SUCKS. Ah well, I'll get to check how my layout does on slower internet lol. Yeah, five people, three computer like devices, and one is a facebook junkie. Should be fun. Thanks! I like your list too. It's a nice layout, not too busy, and the graphics are nice. Mine is all thanks to Shishio's Custom Lists and Profiles (CSS + BBcode help) Club. They had codes I had looked for HOURS on bing and google on and they had some list up for grabs, one of which had a gif animation background in front of a solid. I mostly worked off that one from there and customized it. I also finally broke down and got a decent replacement for Photoshop. (Well, it's actually two programs working together but...) |

ep 9 Consider me another member of the I can has a pipe fox now? Club. SO CUTE! And that little sqeaking sound it makes! Cuuuuuuute! Also, unlike other pets, this one will actually save your life... by strangulation XD. I'm hoping that's the last of the "stiff pinky" stories. ep 10 Aww. I was hoping to see more of the pipe fox. Creeeepy episode. Interesting how so much of Japanese magic and western are similar. I knew it was a barrier from the first lighting of the candle. No, I don't dabble in that crap, I've just been around idiots that have... and got posessed for their trouble. College was interesting, to say the least. Anywho, there was probably some truth to the second story. Things like fudas, religious symbols, saging a house, ect... MAY drive out the weaker entities. However, the stronger, more dangerous ones... it will just piss them off. My suggestion, move. Quickly. It's always handy to have a sensitive friend scope out a house before you throw down money for it. ep 11 aww She's adorable! Kinda needs to learn that appropriate gifts do NOT involve essentially killing people though. XD I think she's a better fit for Watanuki than that other girl personally. So THAT's what those weird things on surf boards were in the OP. I don't like em. ep 12 Oh that was creepy! I agree with Sandileina, I love episodes like that! The way she was talking, it sounded like Watanuki or a relative of his had known her or something and perhaps trapped her in that room. Nice prank though! ep 13 Huh. I had never heard of anything like this before. It did hit a certain note with me though. It's always the quiet ones. Yeah, they're quiet mostly cause they don't know how to express themselves. I didn't start to learn till my twenties and am still learning to a large extent. Almost forgot... YAY PIPE FOX! Think I'm stopping here for the night. I'll watch two more today and that club movie that I have less than an hour left to watch on. |

Episode 13: YES MORE PIPEFOX Wonder what is up with that girl. The three of them look nice in their yukatas ^-^ GO DOUMEKI. Grabbing the box-cutter like a boss. Nice roll, Watanuki. AND I WANT A PIPEFOX EVEN MORE THAN I ALREADY DID. Overall an interesting episode. Gonna add episode 14 later - my laptop's being weird so I'm gonna restart it. Episode 14: Huh. That was a weird episode. Not that creepy exactly, but just... weird. Not much more to say except I wonder if we'll ever get to see Doumeki crack a smile xD;; Oh, and I love the new ED song! |

ep 14 @ Sandileina How can you not watch the next one when it's a cliffy! You either had somewhere to go, or have more self control than I do lol. Love the new ED. Hoping for a new OP. I'm sick of it. To say that there is some truth to the ideas behind this anime is an understatement. Thinking positively, imagining yourself getting what you want/need and then putting all your effort into getting that thing. You will live a way happier life. (And win prizes at drawings lol) ep15 If you've never tried it, star fruit is REALLY tasty! I identified a lot with the older sister in this one. Some things happened, some people screwed up BIG time, my parents were little carpets and refused to do anything for me, and the long and short of it is that I had no third grade even though I did NOT skip a grade. It was a small one room school, I was the only one in my grade, and the administration were cheap SOBs, so I got first and second grade workbooks. My parents were horrified but didn't pull me out that year and I went from there to one of the most highly accredidated schools in the state (private and small btw). Yeah, fourth grade was fun. My one saving grace was that I was a bookworm and read at a sixth grade level at least but that was due more to mom than school. My class mates saw me struggling so hard, taking home WAY more homework than everyone else and crying over a long-division test. (I hadn't ever seen it before. My teacher was a angel though and slipped it off my desk and gave me a short-division test instead. Only A in Math that year.) So they got the idea I was stupid. And it stuck. I have a very high IQ. I did graduate on time with a good grade point average but by that time, I had stopped trying to do my best. I coasted along. That one year of me being behind everyone else had convinced everyone that I was dumb. And then I got to hear that I was dumb till I finally snapped senior year and told them all the hell off. I have a mental block TO THIS DAY when it comes to math. It's taken years to get over that, my dad being a butt, my first boss being verbally abusive and a few other things. And I'm still not all there. The old saying, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me" is a LIE from the pits of hell! As it is, my kids are all gonna have at least one belt in a martial art so that I know they won't be bullied like I was. (After all, I'd rather not go to jail for punching a five year old.) Sorry this was so long but it needed to be said. *steps off soap box* |

Episode 15: Well, it's good you got that off your chest? I like how Watanuki and (somewhat) Doumeki try so hard to solve problems, then Yuuko just casually glides along and solves them. xD It feels good to watch - you get to have both the difficult struggle and the easy solution without compromising the story. ^^ Episode 16: Oh hi, massively suspicious package. Oh, not too suspicious. AWWW WHEN THE PIPEFOX KISSED HIM AFTER RETURNING TO NORMAL It's ncie to see Zashikiwarashi and Amewarashi again ^-^ Lawl, a Ring reference. Generally cute episode. Interesting that Watanuki can travel so easily between planes. I assume that most people can't do that? |

episode 12 Definitely a creepy episode, and even creepy in two stages. First the prank and then the real thing, very well done. This has some of the more creepy anime episode I know, but my favorites among ghostly creepyness are Ghost Hunt and Mononoke for the moment. But this has good chances of joining them in the top 3. episode 13 wait, what? They're not following up on that cliffhanger ending last episode at all? BUT WHO CARES IF THE PIEFOX RETURNS <3 This just made my day! And then it evolved to the Kyuubi, lol. And it awesomely saved the day and everyone was happy the end. Quite enjoyable episode. episode 14 Well, if they ignore this cliffhanger again then I don't know what to think anymore. But I'm pretty sure they'll show us more next episode. So far this has really been weird and kinda slow. Not bad, but not one of my favorite arcs. Still looking forward to the conclusion! Oh, and I don't dislike the new ending, but I preferred the old one. I also love the OP so I hope they don't change it, at least not to something that sounds very different, I think the current one fits the tone of the series quite well. episode 15 I liked the power of words theme of this arc, it really got interesting in that second half. When she was downtalking the older sister I kinda wanted to punch the younger one just a little bit in her face, but thanks to Yuuko all ended well. I was a bit weird how they talked about how one should not expect failure before trying but after getting rejected by Doumeki she said she expected it. Didn't make much sense to me ^^. Gonna throw in another session tomorrow. I wanted to watch more today, but it's already very late because there were more currently airing shows to catch up with today than I anticipated. |

I know I mentioned this before but I'm trying to finish on Wendsday as we leave for South Carolina beach on Thursday morning. Keep going at your own paces though. I just calculated wrongly when I thought we would be through with the series by the time we left on our trip. My bad! Ep 16 Yeah at first I thought, oh crap, someone wants revenge for something. But then it turned out to be from that sweet little sprite. Too funny watching the full grown fox glomp him all the time. Yuuko loves to trick poor Watanuki. Awww kisses from a pipe fox. Think if I fry up some tofu I might attract one? I like that cute little sprite way better than his actual crush. The ring was a great movie yeah. Lesse, my favorite flower seven feet tall, the pipe fox, that cute sprite, only negitive about this episode were those idots on surf boards. Good episode! Ep 17 Ah, the power of a placebo. Nice to know that I wouldn't reject happiness. If someone offered me money out of the blue, I'd take it no questions asked and throw it in a foreign account ASAP just incase it was drug money or something lol. I have a student loan I'm still paying on! Neeeed money. Ep 18 When that cat came out of the picture, I did have an Oh crap moment. But it turned out she was friendly lol. Very cool episode with the lanterns and the parade. Loved seeing the little fox and the sprite again. They surfers were actually helpful this time! :O Very cool looking tree. LOL Watanuki is gonna have a hell of a hang-over! |

Cool, no worries ^^ Good luck! Episode 17: Oh! Nisio Isin wrote the screenplay for this ep. How odd. I did think at the time that it was waxing unusually lyrical even by Yuuko's standards lol. An interesting ep. Yuuko continues to be some kind of counselling goddess. XD Episode 18: THE END BIT OF THAT NOTE. So funny when Doumeki was reading it, then Watanuki's reaction to Maru and Moro learning to write their nams was just really sweet. ^w^ YES LITTLE ODEN FOX, YESSSSSSSSSSSS. >3< Argh, so gooood. Oh, a little bit of plot right at the end? :O Loved this episode. One of my favs so far for sure. Man, this show is really easy to watch~ |

Yeah, don't worry about us and enjoy your trip. How long are you staying by the way? If we plan on watching the sequels too (I know I am) we'd take our time with finishing until you're back. Or am I the only one who plans on watching Season 2, the OVAs and the Movie after we watched season 1 ^^? e: episode 16 Oh my, I really couldn't say in which form the pipe fox is cuter. That he can transform makes just so much more desperate to have one ^^. I agree, the kisses were absolutely adorable. It was also good to soo Zashikiwarashi again, not so good to see the annoying surfboard dwarfs again though. And those talking daffodils sure were creepy in their large forms. |

I'll be back late next Thursday and I can start sequels/oavs/movies then. While I'm gone, I'll be lucky to keep up with my favorite spring shows. I DO go to bed later than everyone else though so hopefully it won't be a problem and I won't have major catching up time. Thanks for the well-wishes. I'll have a marathon tonight. |

Hehe, when I was in Paris over eastern I also managed to somehow keep up with the current shows by watching them in bed when the friend I was visiting was already sound asleep ^^. Have fun with your marathon session :) episode 17 Very interesting to know Nisio Isin did this episode. The dialogue was unusually intriguing and seemed to have more content behind Yuukos excessive usage of words than usual. The whole talk about accepting happiness was interesting and good to watch (it better be when it takes up half the episode ^^). The fashion glassed seemed to "work" in the end so everything should be fine. A good episode. Considering I have until next Thirsday at least I'll stop there for tonight. |

I'm gonna watch the sequels/OVAs/film for sure lol~ Episode 19: HAHAHA, that little snowbunny was so funny running around like that. xD Ahhh, what a fun episode. I don't mind the surfboard guys! I find them funny~ ^-^ Since I have episode 20 pre-loaded, I'll watch that, then take it easy with the last 4 eps over the next few days. ^^ Episode 20: Oh wow, I want that picture frame. O_O Aaaaand that's really creepy, the way it turns slowly around. She killed the girl in the photo, right? ... Yep, right. A lovers' quarrel? Oh, no, a bit more normal than that. Oh well, either works lol, the focus is on the murder itself so it's not too important :3 These episodes go by so fast! I seriously wonder how this series will end? Only four episodes left. |

ep 21 LOL superstitions. Yeah. Nothing to them. If the cow thing was true, all Americans would go around saying MOooooo after Thanksgiving. The clippers were creepy. I may be looking over my shoulder some when I clip my toenails tonight. Eps 22&23 I'm not really sure how to feel about this story. It almost made me cry in a few places. I still have my mom (who is wonderufl btw) but I can understand why he made the choice to stay with her. After episode 22 I couldn't tell if she had hidden intentions, like maybe she planned to take him with her into the afterlife so she wouldn't be lonely. I was sorry I didn't get to see pipefox kisses in this one though! Domeki really knows more that I gave him credit for. As for the ghost lady, it wasn't hard to tell she was from another era. Hardly anyone in Japan wears kimonos everyday anymore. I would guess that Watanuki was having the same symptoms as the womans son did. But thankfully he didn't actually contract TB. Maybe she killed herself when her son died or something and was a lonely ghost ever since. Ep 24 I thought that little boy might be a ghost. Too bad he was though. Their interactions were really sweet and actually might be my favorite Watanuki/other interactions from the show. It was sweet how the little boy gave Watanuki something to protect himself. LOL the birthday BBQ. Too cute/funny how Yuuko always makes him do all the work. Great series! I'm giving it a final score of an eight. |

episode 18 Quite a lot of action in this episode, but thanks to old acquaintenance all turned out well at the end. Man, would I love to have a sip of that nectar just once *gg*. The end seemed to foreshadow some upcoming events, I wonder if they will actually start this season or only in the sequels though. episode 19 Well, even though this episode was fun it clearly showed me that many of the jokes get old for me. Be it Watanuki freaking out unreasonably in the presence of Himawari, the surfboard guys attacking Watanuki because Zashikiwarashi likes him, Watanuki always being forced to do everything for everybody etc... I guess I just expected some development for some of those and just now realize I probably won't ever get any. However the snowman fight was fun to watch and certainly an interesting idea. episode 20 Yeah, the picture and the melting frame were creepy. The reason behind it was quite generic, but the episode managed to focus on the act of murder instead of the circumstances as Sandileina said. I wonder if that woman will really never leave her house again. |

episode 21 Well, interesting take on superstitions. I'm not superstitious personally, but sometimes it can be fun to follow them nevertheless ^^. What really creeped me out this episode was when he woke up with hooves, that was freaky. Glad it turned out to be a nightmare. And it was interesting how he turned into a cow while staying a human too. Overall a pretty good episode. episode 22 It was a mixture of hilarious and creepy to see Watanuki going after that MILF. And it wasn't hard to put 1 and 1 together and see that he's slowly getting sicker/dying because of that woman. The only question is if she knows that this is happening because of her and if yes if she does it intentionally and with bad intent too. Plus Yuuko being out of town is mysterious too. Those phonecalls with a lot of white noise always make me feel uneasy thanks to Silent Hill, Another and various other games or series/movies. episode 23 It seems that she didn't have any ill intentions after all, but nevertheless she always cost Watanuki his life. Doumeki heroically saved the day and maybe even triggered some development in his relationship with Watanuki (I'd love that, the old joke has already gotten boring). Overall a pretty sad arc, but a good one. Can't wait to see what they have in line for the final episode of this season. episode 24 I certainly didn't expect a side story episode at this point, but it was quite lovely. I suspected the boy might be a ghost quite early, but it was still a touching side story. Overall this series was constantly entertaining and easy to watch, but only at some occasions above a solid average. I'll give it a high-ish 7 (72%) and hope the second season keeps the standard up or even gets better. I'd say we schedule the 1 hour long movie as soon as sisgood is back from vacation. It's supposed to be a sidestory of season 1 so I figured we should watch it before continuing on to season 2. Any objections? |

Good news for me is that streaming is better than I had hoped here. I've already managed to watch two of my thursday shows and a third is loading. Sooo... not bad! Episode 21: A rather silly episode ^^;; But Doumeki was hilarious, casually breaking into Watanuki's apartment. I would say it's the weakest episode of the series, but it's still nice to watch atmosphere-wise. I agree sisgood, I'll be looking over my shoulder the next time I cut my nails (I almost always cut my nails at night xD;;) |

Argh I'm sorry these last eps are taking me so long xD;; I'll be done by the time you guys decide to start on the sequels for sure~ (whenabouts where you guys thinking of starting them? :3) Hope you had a good trip sisgood! Episode 22: WATANUKI, JUST GO TO YUUKO'S AND GET THE PIPEFOX. Man... What is up with that woman? :O Is she some kind of... non-sexual succubus, mother-version?? xD Did her son die of TB and now she's somehow accidentally/maybe on purpose cursing Watanuki to die in the same way? Entirely agree with you on the creepiness of the phonecalls though Higashi-san xD;; I was only going to watch one ep tonight, but I think I'll try and finish episode 23 now too int he hopes that this story is concluded, because I'm really curious! Episode 23: Aaaaand Watanuki still goes to meet her without the pipefox. OTL;; Oh sweetie, have you learnt nothing? ... Man, kudos to Fukuyama Jun-san for the constant coughing Srsly, Watanuki, go bake Doumeki something tasty or something in thanks. You owe him several times over and you've never properly said thank you. Go, go, go. ;3; Incidentally, I'd love an explanation for who/what Maru and Moro are lol D'aww. Doemeki looked so shocked/secretly pleased. I suppose that'll do, though it's not what I'd call a proper apology. ^^ As far as the woman is concerned - she's not necessarily from an older time, though it is somewhat likely what with the kimono and TB etc. Her kimono looks very expensive, and I wouldn't say that it's at all uncommon for the wealthy housewives of Japan to dress like that still ^^ Especially in more rural areas. I'm not sure where xxxHOLiC is actually meant to be set, come to think of it... Googling didn't turn up anything. Did they say during the series, do either of you happen to remember? In any case, I guess the mystery of the woman will be unsolved, which suits this series very nicely somehow :3 |

Da Movie Ahhh so it's about one of THOSE houses, hu? I've never figured out how the people that build houses like that don't get lost in their own houses and die of starvation or something. Anywho. I made a discovery. I like the dub better than the sub. *gasp* I liked the plot quite well. Some people really are freaks about their collections and they become really the only things they care about. It was Fa-reaky how the house re-arranged rooms like that and I never figured out if that night scene (with the bunny in the moon) was real or a dream. Heck, I'm not sure if the battle wasn't fought more in their minds. But, eh. The ending was sweet and I'm glad Yuuko mentioned the museum as I thought the old lady had gone there to die or something. Crossover at the end! I wonder if that will continue through the second season. If so, Tsubasa next? |

Episode 26: Man, those hands were creepy O_O Like you two I knew the boy wasn't alive, of course, but it didn't matter. The story was nice. And the idea of giving Watanuki a piece of his bone was really interesting. Basically overall, this show shouldn't work very well. The dialogue is often pretentious. There isn't much character development or plot development at all. The characters are often out of proportion and strange-looking. The stories are sometimes predictable with some silly ideas. Yet I find that none of that matters, somehow. The show has such great atmosphere and personality that honestly, I didn't stop enjoying it. I have a great fondness for it, and there were some really great moments and some really memorable characters. I'm torn on the score - 7 or 8? I think I'm gonna have to give it my highest possible 7 (77%) after all though. I look forward to the film, but I don't think I'll have time today after all >___< Am applying for multiple volunteering opportunities/part-time jobs etc as well as other stuff that's keeping me from watching anime the last couple of days or so. I'll start the film now, and hopefully get a decent way into it in order to finish tomorrow! Looking forward to reading your thoughts on it! Sorry guys! ^^;; |

The film: My immediate thought: WOW, the colours are so bright! XD Oh man, Production I.G., y u make things so beautiful <3 I like the sound of pigs as they eat. Very Spirited Away. xxxHOLiC is certainly good at creepy. All those collections are so cool/interesting/weird/good-looking. And that pianooo. *-* Really fantastic scenes. ASDFGHJKL; *seiyuugasms* Is that Midorikawa-san?? ... Hmm, neither MAL nor ANN has his voice listed. I'll check the credits. Yuuko is such a boss~ Argh, ok. Srsly, my eyes are closing of their own accord. I have 14 minutes left of the film, so I'll post this now and then post the final bit plus my overall thoughts tomorrow. OTL;; I'm really enjoying it so far, again mostly for atmosphere and concepts~ |

That's ok. I'm still a little behind myself. In fact, I should probably be watching a movie right now but instead I'm loading Kuroshitsuji II lol. No hurry. To make it easier on you when we DO start, how about reducing the number watched per day? We tend to marathon anyway so how about just seven a week? Oh, and the movie is pretty short too. Just take your time though. :3 |

@Higashi-san, no problem, no problem ^_____^ Sorry that things are so busy atm! Shall we tentatively say to start series 2 in about a week's time perhaps? I wish you luck~ Ganbatte ne~ The film continuation: Oh crap, Yuuko got turned into a painting. O___O BETTER POWER UP THAT FLAIL, WATANUKI. ... :O I didn't expect that girl to be alive at all. I assumed it was that spirit's dead little sister or something. That's... really cool that the story didn't go down the usual route. And I feel really sorry for the spirit now. (I actually completely forgot that she'd made the request in the first place... That's what I get for watching a short film over several days... XD;; ... Oh! Hey Syaoran XD Kanpai indeed. I really liked that film, though it did take me a long time to finish; but that was definitely more due to busyness than because I didn't like it or found it boring. I actually thought that as a stand-alone story it was excellent. It's actually kind of a shame that the Tsubasa Chronicle crossover bit was included, because they removed it from the series so it felt a bit random here. But everything looked utterly gorgeous, and the music was nnnnnnn SO GOOD (including the credits song - OH wait *rewinds* ... oh. Hmm. It wasn't Midorikawa-san after all XD;; it really sounded a lot like him), and the atmosphere/creepiness was just as good if not better (albeit slightly different) than the series. I'm trying to think of something to criticise, but I'm struggling tbh! srsly I have to download this ending song. Normally I'm not a fan of Suga Shikao, but really, this is great ^_______^ @sisgood: Yeah, the whole collector thing was outstandingly interesting! As for the bunny in the moon, I'm pretty sure that was part of Watanuki's dream (at least until the confrontation, when it was magic I assume), because he mentioned about how he saw 'this room' and 'that room' in his dream, and I think that was the same sequence in which he saw the rabbit in the moon :3 I don't know if I can handle the Tsubasa Chronicle anime though XD;; Either they change the plot from the manga, in which case I imagine it's rather silly with big plot holes, or they stick faithfully to the manga in which case it's a total clusterfuck that you need extensive knowledge of other CLAMPverses to properly understand. ^^;; As for scoring the film... Well, I honestly kind of feel like I want to give it a 9, but if I think about it there are several minor elements that just add up to me not being able to give it a 9, such as the collectors randomly helping the old lady to look after the mansion (did they get their collections added to or are they just doing it because... they... got scared? Or what?), the random crossover at the end after the anime removed such elements on purpose, and a couple of veeeeeery minor padding/pacing issues down long corridors etc (not bad really, more my own personal preference; I just happened to feel them quite strongly ^^;;). I think I'll give it a very good 86%, and I look forward enormously to the next installment in the series :D |

The Movie I finally found time to watch it and I'm positively surprised. This was definitely even better than the average series episode and I agree that the story worked perfectly for a standalone Movie. It looked and sounded a notch better than the TV Series, as Movies tend to do too. The whole setup with the house isn't something new, but I always enjoy those and this one was done quite well. Definitely one of the scariest stuff from the franchise so far. The Inbetween scenes were also great, my only issue would be with those other collectors. Either just not include them or seriously include them, they felt too irrelevant for how much airtime they got in the movie. But generally this definitely was a great experience that makes me look forward more to the series. As for the Tsubasa Chronicle crossover, I didn't particularly mind (I did ask myself the same question about the collectors joining the museum at the end though) and I would probably be interested in rewatching it. I've seen it 5+ years ago and barely remember anything, and even though I definitely didn't get the various other Clamp connections I remember not being bothered much and still being able to follow the main story. Plus I never got to see the OVAs because it would be useless without remembering much about the Series. So, yes, I'd possibly be up for that in the future. But first let's set a date for starting Season 2. Sorry for delaying it so much, but I'll need to delay it a bit further. I'm going to Berlin tomorrow until Sunday and after that I have some work to finish up quickly plus I want to catch up again to all the weekly series. So next Friday would be an optimistic date for me to be able to start Season 2. But if we set the pace at ~1 episode a day you two can start earlier and I'll just catch up with 1 or 2 marathon sessions as soon as I can. |
