This thread is a preview of Kaiji Season 2, which will air in about a year or two. I have already finished the entire season 2 (manga of course), and it's quite surprising that they still have plenty of things to throw at you. This time, Kaiji gambles for real, there are less stupid games but more "actual" gambling. Kaiji also loses a lot due to....OVERCONFIDENCE in his abilities.
But the start of season 2 is pretty strange,
because for a long while there isn't any games/gambling, but more psychological tension.
So, right at the start, you will see the Chairman spewing his usual brainwashing stuff to his followers, telling them that he wants even more money. In fact, Kaiji doesn't even appear for quite a while.
Now, the scene shifts to the Yakuza guys, they're looking for the people who are STILL in debt from last time. Yep, and Kaiji is still one of them.
He finally finds Kaiji, and this time Kaiji is a lot different (His fingers and ear are all re-attached...costing most of his earnings in Season 1).
Kaiji wants to gamble, he is sure that he won't lose. The Yakuza thinks he's completely mad, but Kaiji threatens him to take him in for the third time.
Yakuza takes him in, but of course, not to gambling spots. The Yakuza explains that Kaiji only get 2 chances to repay the debt, and he used them up already. Kaiji is immediately drugged and put to sleep.
They take him to forced labor camp to work in order to pay off his debt.
So now Kaiji is even more screwed, because to pay off his debt, he has to work there for 15 years.
He gets paid a couple of times a month, but the income is only 9000 yen a month. There is a catch however, there is a "one-day ticket" that can be bought for 50,000 yen. It can allow any prisoner to go outside for one day and do whatever he wants. Kaiji decides to save up money for this ticket, so that he can go out and gamble for more money.
But it's not as easy as it seems. Why? Well, even though they do get free crappy food everyday. The beer, the coke, the fried chicken, the "good" cuisine isn't free, and costs money.
Can Kaiji resist the temptation???
He couldn't. Like any human being, he gives in, and buys the beer and chicken.
Day after day after day, he gives in to temptation. So his income falls to only 400 yen. So it means that he needs to save even longer to get the ticket, and plus, he cannot drink any beer or eat any of the "extra" cuisine during this time. Which proves to be impossible.
Well, looks like he's never gonna get out.......so here you go, the beginning of Kaiji Season 2.
I'd LOVE if somebody would translate ANY of the Manga. But the excuse I always hear is that Fukumoto uses such complex kanji and writing that NOBODY wants to translate it.
I haven't seen someone go for under the fingernails in a while. That's actually one of the most sensitive spots on the body, very vulnerable to torture. I feel even more sorry for Kaiji now

Akagi is scanlated and translated by American Hikkikomori Kyokai. I hope they continue their work. I'll start reading it after I finished the anime =3
Btw, is there already something like a fixed date or an estimate for the next season?
A second season seems luckily somewhat to be confirmed, but in the meantime we can have fun with this. But I agree with reverse who posted this on animesuki: Raito's actor from the Death Note live-action does not fit at all for Kaiji xD
They should make an Akagi movie though.....I mean like a huge-budget completely over-the-top Gambling action. With crazy special effects of Akagi turning into a demon and 3D Ron effects or some insane stuff like that. Then I'd watch it.

after reading the manga, I am very excited. It is incredible, it will was surpass the first season, which is already a masterpiece as it is. Season 2 will be groundbreaking.
Is there going to be a Season 2 for sure? Has it been announced or something?
I would VERY much look forward to it, but I don't want to get my hopes up just because there is more manga material, that's true for too many unfinished series who never get a S2...

You're right. I was basing my assumption off the youtube video. But that's before I realized it was an april fools joke.
