| i think it sucks that kishi is going to make madara lose his fight with these losers. could've pitted him against sasuke or naruto or something but the five kages are just boring. and was the naruto headbutt supposed to be like dramatic or cool? cause i just bursted out laughing. |
| The best part of these recent chapters is that Sasuke isn't in them. The worst part: knowing that Sasuke will get uber screen time when he reappears. I ended up bumping the manga up to an 8 after this chapter. Naruto is so much better when Sasuke isn't in it. -sigh- I really hope he doesn't come back for awhile. | I don't want Madara to lose. The power difference feels too great for him to lose on anything except a gimmick. Which brings us to Naruto-Tobi to fill in the gap until Itachi reaches Kabuto and somehow ends Impure World Resurrection. Either way, I'm very interested in seeing Naruto 1v1 Tobi. |

They are characters, but I agree that they haven't been developed. But besides Kakashi, when has Naruto ever had good character devlopment or history? I've learned to just accept that this manga naturally has shitty characters and that the only thing keeping it standing is the fact that it has awesome fights (unlike Bleach). |

Part 1 of Naruto had awesome character development with Neji, Hinata, ect. Part 2 had the development of Shilkamaru, Jiraiya, Nagato, Itachi, and even Naruto himself. So shitty characters? I think its done a good job. |

So shitty characters? I think its done a good job. Maybe I've just bee spoiled by Seinen anime, but part one's characters did nothing for me. They were cliche and seemed to have only been created for plot progression, rather than for progressing the actual characters themselves. And I'm not saying that's a bad thing. If the series has a good enough plot for this to be done, it works, and when Sasuke's not in the series, I have to say Naruto does have that kind of plot. But when you get into the more mature counterpart of character development, plot is no longer the epitome of focus. Minor characters, like Hinata, Neji, and Rock Lee, have basically been dumped because they no longer provide the plot with anything useful. The only reason they'd ever be brought back is for their character to be developed, regardless of the plot, and this...well, this doesn't "roll" in shounen too often. That's why I say Naruto has shitty character development; because it's never about the individual character; it's always about the plot. The only exception that I've seen with this in this series is Kakashi's Chronicles. |

| The individual character histories and development are kinda crummy in Naruto, but I don't begrudge it for that since it's a shounen battle-manga. But the lore of the Naruto universe is extremely well-thought out. Much more-so than the other two of the Big Three, which is why I prefer it over the others. |

| I'm sure I can place a bet with anyone here that this battle between Madara ad Naruto will end anti-climactically. We won't get any awsewers next week. I'm really hoping this multi-Madara mystery is wrapped up soon. :( After investing a number of years into this series, it's dissapointing to view it going in circles conbined with (predictable) 'new' material thrown in as an attempt to keep up guessing (though perhaps I have just read/watched too many shounen's and seinen's) - Kishi can do better then his recent offerings. I was impressed with the four Kages (mainly Tsunade) in a polite manner, telling Naruto to not patronise them. I was equally impressed a few chapters back when Itachi pretty much told him the same thing, he does need to have faith in others... I know Naruto's actions are saw as 'noble', but really, main characer law aside, who would want to invest the weight of the world on a 16 year old who believes he is a profit? Some progress anyway - decent chapter. |
